62 Definitely an old timey English pub atmosphere and the building is pretty inconsistent among central Auckland's many towers. Service was quick, perhaps only because I was their sole patron at lunchtime on a Sunday. Only one of their beers on tap and no flights available. Nonetheless the quality was good. Worth a stop in Auckland, in fact I might book a hotel room there next time. |
54 A pub style, good food, good service, 2 locally made beers plus some others on tap, excessive price charged for the beers even for NZ standard. Located on central Auckland, can be a good place to stop by. |
86 My first brewpub visit in New Zealand ... and was most impressed.... great tasting beers and friendly staff... |
62 This place was absolutely dead when we visited, around 8:00 PM on a Sunday. It was me, my wife, the bartender, and one other dude. Pub-like vibe, with rugby on the TVs. Not a huge selection, I think only 3-4 house beers were on when we visited. Average Auckland prices. We skipped out after one beer to find something a bit more lively. Oh yeah, they have an attached room with slot machines. |
70 Very classic bar/pub; at the time I visited they had put brewing on a hiatus. Very friendly staff and chatted with some folks visiting from Australia, had a great time. |
58 Could not disagree with some of the other posts on this place. Neat and tidy and clean, food was hot and a reasonable price. Beer range however was disappointing only had 2 of their beers on. |
54 Visited in August 2014. A centrally located place with ok food and some own beers. The own beers were ok but nothing special. Not a must visit but if you are nearby, why not? |
50 British pub with sub-standard beer. Televisions on the wall. Pop radio and wood paneled booths for ambiance. Didn’t stay long. |
62 A tidy pub of modest size with it’s own on-site brewery out back knocking out some tasty offerings. Three fonts of their own brews and five other kegs with more commercial stuff. Also a fridge or two but I didn’t inspect the range too closely, what with being in a rush and all. Fairly noisy but with a good atmosphere on my fly-by Friday night visit. Definitely somewhere I’ll revisit to try the rest of the range and update these here notes. I reckon it’d do nicely as a place to pass a few hours on a lazy weekend afternoon no problem. |
66 I figured I’d start my New Zealand trip by staying at a brewery, what a great concept. It’s an old listed building with lots of character. Staff welcomed me with tasters of their whole range, and a tour of the brewing equipment, which is visible behind the bar, with a number of brightening tanks in the basement as well. At the moment it’s still a tied pub, so it has to serve macro stuff, and can only serve three of their own - hopefully this will change soon when their contract is up. |
