60 Quite large, close to the BrewDog bar which bit more interesting probably. Carpet, old stools and bit sticky. More macro cask and kegs, prices are acceptable as elsewhere in airport. You could do worse in an airport. |

It´s always nice a last cask ale before the flight.
Next one please! |
50 Big pub at Gate 10-ish, many taps and hand pulls but nothing interesting found one new one one that was rubbish. Dirty bar and tables vs old sticky beer traces. Food locks stabby but OK vs Burgers and other. I would go for a British Breakfast if served in the evening;) |
56 Visited a couple of times. |
62 Airside Spoons, there's one in every airport, right? Nothing much to recommend it but always popular. Couple of cask ticks snaffled, quality was OK |
56 Standard Wetherspoon place located airside of Edinburgh airport. Always good to see some Cask ticks when waiting for your airplane! |
62 Big open plan place, not much of an ambiance, suprisingly interesting, choices, suprisingly fair. prices. Ok for a pint before your flight. |
58 Visited on 16th September 2018. Large open plan airside Spoons. Tried to recreate a trad pub feel and haven't done it too badly. Just a proliferation of wheelie cases gives it away. 5 sticks, a Nottingham and 2 Stewart beers on show. 1 of Stewart beers not on. Sigh. Quality of beer ok, £4.15 a pint. Reasonable bottle and can selection. Its ok and at least you might grab a tick here. |
54 Ok, by 'Spoons standards it's far from their best pub. But then again it's not their worst either. Despite being busy, we found a spare table at the back, and once seated it was quite relaxed and quiet compared to the hubbub on the concourse outside. They've made some effort to recreate the bookshelves-and-alcoves look of their real pubs, and if you look in the right direction you can almost convince yourself you're not in an airport. The beer range is not too bad - there's five rather unexciting casks beers (but hey, five different cask beers in an airport bar?!), but the bottle range seemed pretty decent, with several Scottish brewer's that (as a Sassenach) I'd not tried before, for instance Six Degrees North and Drygate. Unfortunately the prices are pure airport, about 50% than higher than in their high street pubs (but as this is Wetherspoons, this just brought the prices up to what is charged in the other high street chain pubs). It's worth noting that unlike their non-airport pubs, you don't get a free drink with your meal. Service was speedy enough but not overly friendly (but I guess I'd struggle to maintain a smile having worked in an airport all day). All in all, it's better than it's got any right to be, and it's certainly the most pleasant place to pass the test in Edinburgh airport. |
56 Post-security airport spoons, too much of an open area to really get comfortable. However, four handpumps plus their usual keg/bottle range is better than anything we get around these parts, so I’m not complaining. Serve pints early as well. Prices are rather steep, as one would expect. Good for a few farewell for now drinks. |
