Delicioso y complejo aroma a malta tostada, ciruelas maduras, pasas, chocolate, vainilla, pan de centeno, plátano, caramelo, especias... En boca es sedosa, cálida, compleja, primer trago dulce con notas de malta tostada, frutos secos, fruta madura madura, pan negro, banana...el final es ligeramente amargo, seco, con notas de cacao y especias. Aroma is malty, caramel, bready, dried fruits, brown sugar, yeast, touch of spice. Quite sweet initially, some bitterness develops, becoming well balanced. Medium to full bodied, smooth, light prickly carbonation. Aside from the theatrics on opening, this was enjoyable. Monday, February 19, 2024

Taste has toffee, cola, chocolate, rye bread, some caramel, ripe pears, plums and bananas, hints of syrup and honey. Dry finish with roasted malt, cocoa and hints of coffee. dorain	2.3 Abbaye des Rocs Grand Cru Aus der Flasche (bbe 08.02.2020) im 2023-11 getrunken. Bei diesen dunklen Belgier hat die ürsprüngliche Süsse komplett abgebaut und es wirkt irgendwie Körperlos bzw. unstimmig. Sicher kein schlechtes Bier aber es hat die lange Lagerung nicht so gut überstanden. Komischerweise schaffen andere Belgier eine solche lange Lagerung und werden so deutlich besser als frisch abgefüllt. Nun ja das Gran Cru gehört nicht dazu. Schade! Sunday, January 14, 2024
corkyrory66	4.7 Abbaye des Rocs Triple Impérial Cognac BA (Batch 2) Deuxième édition de cette bière foncée en fût de cognac .. avec deux différences au départ sur l'édition 1, d'abord un abv supérieur d'un petit 0,5 %, ceci la porte au joli niveau de 11 %, ensuite une maturation longue de 12 mois au lieu de 4 pour la 1. Visuel superbe aux teintes cognac vieux (belle idée ..). Entame avec une très belle présence du cognac et de fruits confits. Longueur avec une pointe de noisette, et une présence accrue du boisé. CONCLUSION : nette progression en termes de barrel aged sur la 1ère édition, mais où est la magie de la bière de base ? Intensa ed avvolgente nei sentori, al naso si percepiscono aromi fruttati, di malto tostato e lievito, con sfumature dolciastre (caramello e zucchero candito). Inizialmente spiccano la frutta matura e la frutta secca insieme a scorza d’arancia, liquirizia, cioccolato e note speziate. Aroma of Belgian candy sugar, gentle cognac influence. Flavour profile reveals a lovely deep sweet toffee character with a cloak of cognac adding a welcome depth. A lovely beer this. En nariz notas de levadura, cítricos, especias, paja... En boca tiene cuerpo ligero, bastante carbonatada, algo pungente, primer trago ligeramente cítrico, con marcadas notas de levadura, cereal, pan, pimienta. Emana un aroma vivo y seductor, levadura belga, malta, naranja madura, albaricoque, especias... En boca es tan elegante como robusta, tiene buen toque dulce, amargor medio y un interesante final especiado. También es algo seca y licorosa. Sin duda una cerveza sexy y atractiva. Muy rica. En boca es de cuerpo completo, profunda, llena de matices, toques frutales, maltosos, achocolatados, especiados, licorosos...todo un deleite. Aroma: zoetje, fruitig, (granig-)moutig, hop. Gemiddeld mondgevoel. Smaak: wat zoet, granig-moutig, beetje citrusfruitig, gemiddelde koolzuurprikkel, verfrissend, zachte hopbitterheid. Droge finish. dragnet101	3.9 Abbaye des Rocs Brune Bottle from Beers of Europe and marks my 100th Belgium rating. Turned out to be a gusher which I wasn't prepared for and lost a quarter of it. Once in the glass it has a murky amber brown look with quickly dissipating head. Notes of liquorice, caramel, dark malts, prunes, hint of balsamic vinegar, light brown sugars. Warming alcohol heat on the way down but I didn't detect it in the taste. Very good depth to this - rich but not overdone. Medium to full bodied, some stickiness on the palate, fine carbonation.
