The culinary, not botanical, definition of fruit is used: fleshy, seed-associated structures of plants that are sweet or sour, and edible in the raw state. Includes pome fruit (apple, pear, quince), stone fruit (cherry, plum, peach, apricot, mango), berries, currants, citrus fruit, dried fruit (dates, prunes, raisins), tropical fruit (banana, pineapple, guava, papaya), figs, pomegranate, as well as fruit peels/zest.
It doesn't includes nuts, chile peppers, coffee, chocolate, spruce tips, rose hips, hibiscus, or any flavorful fermentable sugars and syrups (agave nectar, maple syrup, molasses, sorghum, treacle, honey)
