Kauge (2508) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 6, 2016
Tap at Bar Volo. 6.6%. Wild strawberries and maybe blueberries with sugar. Really nostalgic. Plus piney notes. A bit of an alcoholic note too. Tastes bittersweet, of berries, pine and resin, roast. Flowery hops. The booze shows, which for 6.6% is a bit funny. Carbonation mellow. Some harshness in the dry finish. Not exactly the kind of BIPA I enjoy the most. Has a kinda old-school British character.

On cask at cask days 2014. Very hoppy, wonderfully expressive black ipa. I don’t know how much the cask presentation helped this but I’d have to say that this was one of the best black ipa experiences of my life. Great stuff.

(On tap at Bar Volo, Mar 20 2014) Pours black with a dense, frothy tan head, some lace. Lovely aroma of chocolate/roasted malts and a lot of hops, resinous but also some fruit character, grapefruit/tropical. Flavour has somewhat sweet dark malts, moderate roast, a fair amount of resinous, grapefruit pith hop character to start. Towards the finish, moderate hop bitterness combined with some roast, fairly dry and reasonably refreshing ending. Mouthfeel is quite full and carb soft, very nice to drink. Top notch black IPA, good balance of hop and roast character. Recommended.

On tap at Bar Volo, pours black with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, piney hops, and some citrusy notes - nice and roasted. Flavour is a wonderful balance of roasted malt and piney hops, with a fairly astringent finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Wonderful stuff.

sudomorph (1307) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 30, 2013
On tap at Barvolo. Poured black with a mocha head that thins to a film and leaves great lacing. Aroma is roasty with floral and tropical notes.Taste is a bitter roasted with a touch of herbal on the finish.Medium body and carbonation. Slightly slick texture but fairly smooth. Drinkable but slowly. Overall tasty and drinkable. Solid flavour. Would order again for a change up.

TheJester (2541) - Cavan Monaghan, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 13, 2013
On tap at Volo. Too dark to see what it looks like. Probably black. I’m gonna say black. Aroma is the typical mix of chocolat/java and resiny hops. The flavour is solid, if unspectacular. But the body is great - full and creamy. Maybe some oatmeal in there?
