COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Humle: Mild

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2021 Copenhagen 16/10 2021. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. As Bryghuset No5 Cacao Bock'. Label in No5's usual shining star in light beige and maroon. Pours opaque dark brown with a mid-sized off-white head. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing. Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with sugary fumes and a light grainy sourness. Dark sweet malts, brown sugar, cocoa and chocolate. Metallic alcohol peeking in. Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture. Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness bordering on being sugary. Followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish and lingers for a while. Finish is sweet with a light boozy burn. Nice fit between sweet chocolate and slightly boozy Bock.

(33 cl bottle bought at the Friis-Holm stall @ Copenhagen Food Fair; BBD: March 20th 2015) Pours a hazy, deep brown bordering on the black with medium tan head that dissipates immediately leaving nothing but a glass full of "cola". Aroma has woody, toasted notes that could well be cocoa beans. Oily texture, medium carbonation, medium body and an astringent finish that reminds me more of the alcohol than of the chocolate unfortunately. Flavour is toasted with little sweetness and a faint, acidic quality that could come from the wheat malt. I would have been interested to see what role the cocoa could have played in a stout.

Draught@CPH BF 2013. Ambery brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, some toffee, mild herbs as well as some slight alcohol. Flavour is chocolaty along with some coffee, mild roasted notes, some toasted and toffeeish notes as well as some slight wooden notes to it.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and chocolate. Taste is of malt, caramel, nuts, chocolate, and fruits. Chocolate finish. Medium body and carbonation. DISCLAIMER: this bottle was confirmed as "infected/off" which made the experience a pretty tart one, so my scores reflect that. I will update if I ever feel like taking another chance. :-)

Sample at ØK 13. Tiny off-white head to a dark, brown body. Aroma of roasted malts with a chocolate touch. Mixed taste of plums, raisin, liquorice and chocolate. Sweet ending of chocolate. Fine bodied. Okay, a bit too sweet for a higher score (Copenhagen 25.05.2013)

@Ølfestival København 2013 - very dark brown beer with a little foam left; slightly dusty with notes of cocoa and black chocolate, hints of hazelnuts; full-bodied with some sweetness below soon overwhelmed by a robust bitterness; some residual sweetness, lot of chocolate, plums and notes of alcohol as well
