COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Toronado Pub in San Francisco is celebrating their 25th Anniversary this weekend and we brewed a special beer just for the blessed event. The pub with the notoriously rude bartenders set the bar for craft forward beer bars for two and a half decades, and they like us. So, to show we love them too, we brewed what could be considered “Double Nelson” and it’s called “Toronado 25th Anniversary Ale.” The beer came in at 8.88% abv and is clear, clean and shockingly floral. The Nelson Sauvin hops shine and the alcohol is so unnoticeable that it too could be considered dangerously delicious.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2022 Can from Total Wine in Folsom, CA at 8.8%. Citra, Sourthern Cross, Nelson and Pacific Jade hops. Pours translucent orange gold with a decent white head. Aroma is floral, citrus and cooked caramel. Med body or better. It is hoppy, but not painfully bitter. Melon, grapes, unusual citrus and a lot of perfume/floral. Malt is rather cooked caramel. Hard to explain that, but it is different from plain old caramel. It's heavy duty flavor, but a bit on the malty side.

Long wanted to try this beer and finally got to do so during the 10th anniversary of San Diego Beer Week. Draft at O'Brien's Pub. POURS a quite hazy muddy gold hue with minimal white head. I think this beer precedes the "haze craze" -- interesting to see it so murky. AROMA is mellow but has notes of sweet grains, dank, citrus, vanilla, with some of that onion / garlic hop presence...what hop is that? FLAVOR of sweet juicy citrus, soft peach, apricot, dank hops, soft vanilla, and lots of other subtle taste bud elements. Moderate bitterness and exceptionally well balanced, all while hiding the moderately high ABV really well. There is no real stand-out feature here, but everything melds together exceptionally well here making this an excellent beer. This is the quintessential presentation of the Nelson Sauvin hop!
