COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a huge white head that settles into a lacy cap. Complex aroma of yeast, caramel and funk. Earthy with a hint of hoppiness and some barnyard. Medium body with light carbonation starts and finishes bone dry. Super complex and superbly crafted, though I would expect nothing less from one of the worlds great beers! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Colour: Amber/orange with a thick foam head. A bit too much for me. Nose: Very spicy and earthy, with some leather and herbs. Dry and crisp. Some fruits like citrus and apple. Very complex. Flavours: Bitter, dry, fresh with some orange peel and (again) citrus. Additional dry-hopping is well noticeable. The bitterness slowly makes way for some yeasty flavours and some candy sugar. Finish: Long and intense. Bitter-dry, fruity-fresh and malty-sweet. Complex finish. Verdict: Unique among the Trappist beers. It takes some getting used to, but once you do, you’ll embrace it with open arms. Amazing beer.

bottle. Pours cloudy orange with sediment and huge head. Aroma of citrus, bubblegum, yeast. Taste is banana, earthy, bitter. Interesting, but a little watery and does not stand up to its trappist cousins.

From bottle. Floral in aroma, bitter flower on the tongue. Full bodied and complex. Superb representation of the style.

Big, off-white, frothy head. Citrus, earthy, basement aroma. Dry with a spicy, maybe pink peppercorn taste to it. There’s not much I can add that most dont already know. This is a great beer! Thank you, Walt for introducing me to this years ago.

Was excited to try this. Pours amber with a huge head - looked very appetizing. However, it seems to be lacking in flavor. Maybe I had hyped this too much in my head, but I am somewhat disappointed now. Glad I tried it but would not go out of my way to get this again.

Delicious, but not as special as Rochefort. Mild hops combine with wood and yeast flavors to make something very ’classic’ tasting and enjoyable. Truthfully, perhaps a little overpriced when compared to similar tasting beers but still very good.

Bottle from AV3, nice orange pour with a full glass of head, too much carbonation. Aroma is great, some tart fruit like a sour, grapes and other vinous notes. Taste is like a dry sweet wine with some earthiness, not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

S: Earthy bret, stone fruits and grapes. P: Has a big thick white foam and a brown golden color. T: It strikes with bananas but quickly goes into spices, earthy musk, grassy hops, and just a bit of cloves. M: light to medium body, nice soft carbonation. O: Solid
