En bref, Orval est une expérience gustative incontournable pour tout amateur de bière à la recherche de qualité et d'authenticité. Probablement la meilleur bière celons mes gouts.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2024 Not sure how I don’t have a record of this one. This was one of the beers that started me on the beer exploration journey ~20 years ago. Bottle into Belgian goblet - alas my Orval glassware broke many years ago. Amber with lots of carbonation. Aroma is slightly funky / barnyard. Tart, dry distinct taste. Perhaps some bat guano and hay in the most delicious way. Very nice if you are into that kind of thing.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2023 0.33l bottle from a small shop in Leuven. Starts with a big frothy head, dropping slowly. Opaque amber body with a hint of red. Moderate yeasty aromas, like a stable. Taste is mildly sour, with a hint of grapes. Like champagne. This champagne-like impression is strongly supported with the dry aftertaste and the strong, fizzy and stingy palate. The beer is obviously very good, says beer judge in me, but somehow there is something in the aftertaste I do not like, so the scoring is a compromise between my objective and subjective parts.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2023 Im Glas orange-kupfer und opaltrüb. Die weiße, feinporige Schaumkrone ist dabei unglaublich langlebig. Die Duftaromatik zeigt sich süßlich, getreidig bis brotig malzig mit einem zart würzigem Honigton und kräuterartige Hopfennoten sowie einer leichten Brett-Note. Der Antrunk kommt kräftig rezent, moussiert schön und ist dabei süßlich, fruchtig, getreidig malzig und zartherb. Am Gaumen macht sich ein süßlich-würziger Charakter mit fruchtig-floraler Basis und einer leichten Brett-Note breit. Dazu kommt eine zarte Säure und ein weiches Mundgefühl. Das gute Spiel zwischen fruchtiger Hefe und leichtem Brett weiß zu gefallen. So zeigt sich dieses Bier durchaus harmonisch und interessant, wobei ich es eine Spur leichtgängiger erwartet hätte. Aber da hakt eben die Brett-Note etwas ein. Die Sache mit der zweiten Gärung ist sowohl interessant, als auch speziell. So fällt diese Note nicht zu extrem aus. Was man noch anmerken muss... je mehr Temperatur dieses Bier bekommt, desto besser ist es auch.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2023 Flaska från 2023, drucken bara 4 månader gammal. Härligt djup orange hazy färg med mycket hög kolsyra, skummar rejält och ger riktig fint och tätt äggviteskum med små bubblor. Doften är mycket fruktig och blommig med brettkaraktär. Lite parfymig citrus, mandarin, lavendel. Kolsyran är påtaglig i smaken, känns friskt och skummar i munnen. Blommig smak, brett och med en härlig beska i avslutet, även en mjuk alkoholton gör sig påmind. Kroppen är medium med ett torrt avslut. Ett supertrevligt öl som känns ganska unikt. Den höga kolsyran, fantastiska skummet, säregna flaskformen och brettkaraktären ger en njutbar upplevelse som sticker ut och stannar kvar i minnet!

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2023 Mega mocny aromat banana, barwa rubin nieprzejrzyste, wysoka jasnokremowa piana, z butelki aż wyleciało. W smaku mocna goryczka taka kwiatowa, mega dużo nut drożdżowych przez co mam ciągle skojarzenia z pszenicą, ciągle w tym piwie kręci się nuta bananowa. Całość lekka i wytrawna, trochę goryczki zostaje na posmaku, nawet w sumie więcej niż trochę - wyważone a zarazem zdecydowane i intensywne piwo, przyjemne bardzo, chętnie wrócę, choć to moja pierwsza Belgia.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2023 Bottle from 2013. Lightly hazy gold, sour nose, funky Brett flavor, big and crunchy but very smooth. Really undescribable and tasty-delicious, much more evolved than younger bottles I've had before. Just get some.
