What’s new - Part 2

It’s right next door to the shop with a separate entrance. Brewing equip is behind the taps and cold box. 7 barrel system, split into 3.5 barrel fermenters. I think there were 4 beers, each with variations of hops/yeast/additional ingredients. All beers under 7% at this time.

While the beers might be more interesting to homebrewers, the beers are much more interesting than what White Labs is doing.

Just saw this in the local beer failbook group that I’m in. No idea how far along he is in term of fund raising but the name of the place is (kind of childish) Filthy Perro.

Someone pointed out that Thompson Brewing is selling all their equipment and leaving the property. He’s selling the whole setup for 75k, which is kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

Kat Daddy in Moreno Valley seems to be closed now too. The story is kind of funny really. Super nice guy that made some really god awful beer. At some point he wanted to move so Brew Rebellion took over the operations and there was an agreement to pay some royalties. I guess after the first week of truly killing it the Kat Daddy guy demanded a higher percentage, at which point the Brew Rebellion guys walked away. Now the facebook page and the websites are gone.

Then there’s Area 51. Last time I talked to him he said he was getting pretty close to throwing in the towel since he wasn’t making any money.

The 9bro9 is losing some truly world class breweries.

Not that I’m going to be sad that Kat Daddy is no longer cranking out garbage, but like you said the guy was super nice and it’s too bad he did that and cost himself a lot of money.

I’m surprised that the Area 51 guy would actually consider closing. Seems like the kind of guy that would go down with the ship.

What I find most baffling, though is that Thompson is somehow doing well enough to upgrade. Wowe.

Well, the Facebook post says they are...but that could be bullshit.

I need to make it to Brewligion before they close, too. I also just need to make it out to your place at some point soon so we can open 200 beers in a sitting.

Ah, well, my loss then.

Unfortunately I am no longer sure if I’m going to be able to make it. I’ll be down the following weekend for Veritas pick ups for certain, though.

Depending on what time the party starts and what time I get out of bed I might be meeting celticaleman to bro out in his garage Saturday morning and then head to Cal Poly to tick their beers, if you’re in the area.
