Went to Good Beer Co in Santa Ana last night and was super impressed. Beers are mostly pretty good.

While checking out brewLAB today in Carpenteria I was told about another new brewery: Poseidon Brewing Company in Ventura

Any of the San Diego locals want to chime in on any of these?

Valley Center Brewing just opened in Valley Center on Saturday.

K&B Wine Cellars has been listed on the westcoaster list as a brewery for a while but I can’t find any info on them actually brewing anything. They have a type 75 license, which is "License Type: 75 - ON-SALE GENERAL BREW-PUB". No idea what that means.

Prodigy Brewing seems to be open but doesn’t have a tasting room nor can I find much info on them besides the fact that they made an IPA and served a couple of beers at the SDBW Brewers Guild fest. They have some foeders and claim to be doing sour beers.

*edit: I got a reply saying that they don’t have a tasting room yet but after they move they will (or possibly open a tasting room offsite?).

Division 23 has an active license but I don’t know if they ever opened. Their facebook page was last updated in July and their website doesn’t work anymore.

Abnormal Beer Company seems to be open and has some pictures of their brewery on their facebook page but no mention of any house beers. Are they still working on building the equipment? It looks like a situation similar to Amplified Ales where they’re inside of a restaurant that they don’t own. It’s called Cork and Craft.

*edit: looks like the brewer license for Amplified is in the name of the California Kebab restaurant. So I guess they do own both the brewery and restaurant. Not the case with Abnormal.

Kensington Brewing Company seems to have slipped under the radar. They got their license back in May, have beers on tap around town, and claim to have a tasting room but no hours listed anywhere.

Border X apparently opened a second location a while ago and is moving that location. It’s a bar, not a second brewery I don’t think.

K&B brewed some beers awhile back, including some collaborations with local homebrewers but I’m not sure if they have done anything since then.

Agreed. Just remember to bring quarters for the paid parking.

also have recently visited:
Artiflex (San Clemente): mostly solid, nice setting, worth visiting if you’re in San Clemente

Beach City (Huntington Beach): large selection and enjoyed most. If in the area, a good place for a brew and watching a game

Barley Forge (Costa Mesa): went for the soft opening, the beers were OK, the parking sucked.

Abnormal beer is housed inside a restaurant called Cork and Craft. They just started brewing, but did not have any house beers on tap as of last weekend. The guest taps are ridiculously good and the food is tasty.

Just stumbled upon Mars Brewing, ironically in Riverside just a few miles from Area 51. Not clear if they’ve applied for licensing or if they’re just homebrewers.

Ryan (I assume rcubed is Ryan), what’s the story with Julian Brewing closing?
