86 Best selection in Columbus and a fun dive bar format - easiest place to find difficult beers (Three Floyd’s, especially.) Have to have 40 or so taps. Loud music, darts, pool and great beer - what else does one need? |
64 Bob’s Bar is tucked in a strip mall pretty far due north from downtown Columbus. The interior reminds me of a ton of South St. Louis bars- shotgun-style, low ceiling tiles, neons, blaring classic rock. The beer menu is behind the bar, scrawled in too-small marker on a dry-erase board. We eventually did see some new vanilla stout from Columbus and ordered a few of those. The service was hard to gauge because the place was packed with younger, drunker people celebrating St. Patrick’s Day (I had totally forgotten about the holiday, coming to Columbus for the NCAA basketball games). I’d like to come back and try this place when it isn’t as loud and crowded. |
86 Holy hole in the wall! This is a Columbus destination must and can best be described as the non-beer-bar beer bar. From the outside looks totally generic, hilarious sign. Walk in and looks like a complete local place. Sit down at the bar and greeted by some very friendly bar tenders who are not only knowledgable but have good suggestions. A really nice draft list of about 20 beers, local beers and very varied. A big bottle list of regulars and an even better list of seasonal bottles. Got to play some naked photo hunt as well.
I call it a non beer bar because half the people there are just locals drinking miller lite and crushing shots. However, top to bottom the beers stand with most top places. Not as many bottles as Bodega but no d-bag hipsters either so its a trade off win.
Go to this place when in Columbus. |
70 If you like beer this place is more than worth a visit when in Columbus. They carry a large selection of draft beers and a massive selection of bottles. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and will get you into the right beer. They regularly carry many of my favorites from Stone, Bell’s, and Founder’s -- Hopslam and Founder’s Breakfast Stout in particular. |
78 This is my favorite bar in Columbus to get good beer. There is always something different.
They sell bombers but for me when Im going to Bob’s I want to try 2 or 3 different beers.
The beer selection is the best in town. They have all the common Unibroue, Hoppin Frog, DFH and lots of other beers that you would never expect to see in a bar.
The atmosphere is nice and calm. Lots of folks that look like this is their local watering hole. Not crowed. There are a few booths to sit and enjoy some good beer. Free darts and a coin operated pool table or two.

78 Good selection for Columbus. Wish the place was bigger. |
64 This joint definitely has a very large selection with many taps and loads of bottles. Some drawbacks are parking, frosted glassware and they don’t keep the kegs cold prior to placing them in the kegerator. The service is okay to be nice about it. You will sometimes go for 15 mins with an empty glass. Lots of room for improvement but shows potential. |
84 Great place, great tap list. I love the pool tables and jukebox, atmosphere is completely unpretentious making it a great place to go and kick back and just relax and drink. Service is very friendly. I’ve gotten myself into some trouble here on occasion and I want to apologize to the bartender that had to kick me out.... but I still love Bob’s Bar! |
88 Every time we’re in Columbus, a trip to Bob’s Bar is a must. Parking is only thing lacking. The beer selection is impressive and service is always friendly and knowledgeable. There are plenty of beers to choose from and the selection can be viewed in the glass coolers behind the bar. There are 27 taps always rotating tasty brews. Founders Breakfast Stout and Ruination were on tap when we stopped by which made us very very happy. Overall, it’s a great place for people who appreciate good beer. |
74 Atmosphere is just above average, but crowd is pretty good. Bottle selection is excellent and some good drafts. Price is very reasonable. Seek this place out. I love that they claim to be the cultural hub of the midwest. |
