“Old run down restaurant look and feel, run down but clean. No bar, but plenty of tables scattered around. 8 beers on tap. Beers was ok. Had the seafood chowder, it was good. Near Mast Landing and Star & Stripes.“

“If you are visiting Maine Beer in Freeport this place is 2 miles away and well worth a visit (along with Mast Landing a little further up the road). The beers are great. Their strength seems to be pale ales and IPAs, and they also offer stouts, sours, pilseners, ciders, etc. There is a small food menu and outdoor seating is available.“

“2022 New England Beer Tour, Stop 3 of 12, Oct. 13, mid-afternoon. Very easy to find brewery (U.S. Route 1, for heaven’s sake) with ample parking right outside the front door. Beautiful tasting room features, along its four sides, a bar offering their current eight tap choices (perfect when getting two flights of four glasses each), a refrigerated carryout section with bomber upon bomber of fresh beer, a glass wall overlooking the brewing operation and the wood-fired pizza oven and serving area. A well-stocked merchandise shop is along the entryway. This is a classic layout that had the consistently best beers of any stop along our trip. I’m very glad Maine Beer distributes its ales back in my hometown as everything deserves revisiting, though the setting can’t be duplicated.“

“Another whale slain. This is a large space with two levels of seating, an outdoor "beer garden" and somebody waiting to seat you. Bar is large, but understaffed given that everything routes through it. Upstairs bar exists but was not open when I was there. No flights, but they have half pours for most beers. About 20 taps running, including a bunch of brewery only stuff. Pizza's smelled nice, but you could not take it up too the beer garden, which is simply stupid IMO. I tried two new beers and an old favorite (Dinner) and none really lived up to expectations. I feel more or less the same way about recent bottles I have picked up. The beer world seems to be passing these guys by. That coupled with the annoying lack of service to raters and the weird food rules made this a substantial let down.“

“Visited in Sep 2018. Small tap room but looks like they are rapidly expanding/under construction. Beer selection is fairly standard.... all their normal stuff and a couple bottles. Their beer rocks and I love it. They have some seating outside, brick oven pizza outside but not really a menu or food selection. Overall not a place to hang out (as of now) but worth a stop“

“Beautiful place about 20 minutes north of Portland. Modern, clean and immaculately designed tasting room with a very nice outside patio. 8 beers on tap when I visited. You can do flights of 4 for $10, flights of all 8 for $18, or order 5 oz pours singularly for $2.50. Beers were the freshest I’ve ever tasted them, and the hoppy ones were especially fantastic. Service is very friendly. Some bottles available in the fridge to go as well. They do pizza as well, and have nice looking pretzels. If you’re in Portland or anywhere in ME, this place is a must hit.“

“The brewhouse has quadrupled in size since my last visit five years ago, in a shiny new warehouse space behind the original building. The old brewhouse is being converted in a very large taproom as we speak. For now, the old taproom is small and simple with a few tables across from a small serving bar. The outdoor space is much nice in good weather, just a few picnic tables under the shade of some awnings, plus a wood fired pizza oven. The beers, of course, are spectacular, and I'm glad they've expanded since I can get them now in Charlotte, NC. Great staff, at least two of who have DC roots. A must-visit while in Portland.“

“Enjoyed 2 flights here of very fresh, tasty beer. I've always been a fan of MBC, so it was nice to finally visit. The outdoor seating is nice, smallish tap room inside. Friendly service. The brick oven pizza truck outside was great.“

“A good brewery taproom. The place is quite clean, almost sterile, and well put together. It is fairly small, though. The draft and bottle selection is somewhat limited compared to many other brewery taprooms, but that's just their MO here. The pricing is fair. The staff seemed reasonably friendly. There was a food stall of sorts set up outside. Overall, I'd say this place is definitely worth a stop if you're driving past, but maybe not worth traveling out of your way to visit.“

“Everyone below me has written perfectly what it’s like visiting this spot. I do however wish that their social media presence was a little more conspicuous and frequent. That’s chump criticism, in all honesty. Located awkwardly off the highway, its position is slanted downward on a concealed hillside. Bar-hands were either hurriedly friendly and helpful or a massive pain in the ass to deal with. I refuse to drop in during special releases as that usually means I’ll be stuck in an unmoving line all bleeding day. Worth checking out. They tend to have really neat food trucks, as well.“

“Second time visiting this place, first was three years ago and I’ve still yet to get through my place rating backlog, so going at it again. Gorgeous clean white open feeling space in this small to medium sized taproom. 8 beers on tap, with very reasonable pour prices. All 8 as 5oz pours for 18, singles for 2.5. Not really crowded at 11am on a Friday when they opened, but there were about 10-15 of waiting to get inside, so their popularity is certainly a thing. A few of those were just picking up bottles and leaving, but most stayed and had beers. Big tables allow communal seating for about 30 people, and there are some games (Jenga, Connect 4, Stratego, etc) hanging out to play with your friends. Snacks are available, as well as enormous pretzels for $5, and there’s a pizza truck outside. Beers here are excellent, though if you’re not a fan of hoppy things this may not be the place for you. 7 of the beers on were IPA or IPL, and the 8th was a wheat, that was lightly hoppy as well. Given that they’ve got a few stouts in their regular lineup, this could have just been an anomaly. Either way, go here. There’s also beers to go, at $5-7 per 500ml bottle, which is probably $2 cheaper than I see them at home, and likely a bit fresher. And there’s some things that aren’t on tap. Very much worth the stop. “

“Very nice clean tavern styled restaurant, nice old New England feel, not rustic, just nice soft and quaint. Though a quiet atmosphere, still nice to take kids. Mostly Maine beers on tap. I did see Old Rasputin, Smuttynose and La Fin Du Monde at times, but the food is very good here.“

“Food is always amazing here. Management is smart enough to keep up with the crowds. Ask them for a non-iced pint glass if you want that. Value is good for what it is. Always clean. Calzones were the main dish I almost always consumed, phenomenal to me.“

“Odd, that I added this but this is probably one of the best kept secrets of Southern Maine. Owner is very adamant about keeping his cigar humidor clean and very well organized. He is extremely enthusiastic about getting you whatever beers you’re looking for. Only place I ever saw Sam Adams’ Utopias for sale outside the brewery itself.“

“Located next to an econo-lodge, good place to stay for any Dinner pick ups. Decor is simply wooden bar table with register, floors, and approximately three large coolers with beer. Another wall lined with beers in cases. Indoor windows overlooking the brewing area on the floor below. Outdoor patio also to picnic however I am unsure if you can drink outside. Value is a ten as you can’t get these beers for any cheaper. The selection is obviously excellent if you’re looking for Maine Beer Company beers.“

“Kind of dead on Friday night in Late September. Looks like a local version of a chain restaurant that is need of some upkeep. They had 8-9 beers on tap and 2 on cask. I wasn’t a big fan of their previous beers and the one I had last night did not change my opinion. At least it wasn’t terribly expensive. I’d only go here if nothing else is open nearby.“

“After having been a fan of their beers for years, this is kind of exactly what I would have expected their tap room to be like. Minimalist and clean. Has 8 beers on tap, and they were all hop forward. Big window into the production area is about as close to a tour as they seem to have. Lots of enegry efficiency / environmentally friendly stuff going on. Bottles to go of some of their beers. In addition to the tap room arean, they had a food truck outside and a nice outdoor drinking / eating area out there too, which I would venture to guess is seasonal. “

“Great little brewpub with great service and price for the "All In" flight, which featured all 8 beers they had on tap. The selection this time around was full of IPAs, considering the time of year, but some variation in color on my flight tray would have been nice. Still, friendly staff and great service make this a place to visit.“

“This place was pretty nice. Nice upscale indoor area and an awesome looking outdoor section. The tables were granite topped and nice. The staff was very friendly and will definitely talk and be polite and offer suggestions. It’s pretty awesome. The beer selection wasn’t the best. 8 beers on, all pale ales or IPAs. Wish there was something a little different to break up the monotony. The value was excellent. $18 for all 8 in a flight? I’m going all in! I’d definitely come back here, this place was awesome.“

“It’s a tap room so it’s not going to have the most robust selection, but the beer was fresh, the space bright and clean, and the water was cool and clear. Plus the beer at Maine Beer is so darn tasty that it’s hard not to like the place.“

“Came mid day on a early spring Monday looking to kill time before I could hit my hotel room and sleep. Somewhat small tasting room, but adequate for my needs. Grabbed two of the 8 beers on tap. 7 of the 8 were also in a cooler for take home brews. I Grabbed a few bottles for aforementioned hotel room, stick for the beer fridge. Solid.“

“Great medium-sized tap room that looks out over the brewery floor. Friendly, knowledgeable staff that are pouring 8 taps of top-quality MBC beer (although Dinner won’t be on unless it was released that day!). There’s beer to go on the side wall with a pretty impressive selection of their brews. It can get crowded pretty quickly, but it’s worth sticking around and finding a seat.“

“Maine Beer Co is nice and easy to get to from Portland by car. It just a 20 minute drive from town, although we did detour via the rather delicious Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster Company for food first. Our visit was on Tuesday afternoon, so it was relatively quiet instead. Although small the tap room is bright, clean and quite open. You can look straight into the brewery through a window. They had 8 beers on tap during our visit. The highlights were lunch and Adopted Bastard. The had some merch and about 5 different bottles to takeway. Not a huge selection, but the beer is of excellent quality. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. A pleasant tap room with some rather delicious beer.“

“Drove near here so I thought I’d stop in. Kind of drab and boring inside, and spread out so even though there was a bit of a crowd it seemed dead. Service was OK. A couple of beers on that were not at the other location I visited, one of which was the best Gritty’s I’ve had. Cheap prices on beer. Did not try the food here.“

“Small tap room featuring 8 beers. They don’t have food aside from Pretzels, but those pretzels (and especially the mustard) were damn good. Food truck outside, but didn’t get anything. Maine Beer Co. is my favorite brewery so I was very happy. A little sad they didn’t have Dinner there, but they produce great stuff. Pretty cool merch as wel.“

“I was here during their Dinner release. These was just mere coincidence, as I had no intention of picking up a case of an insanely good, and attempting to fly it back to Seattle. With that, I can say that they did a great job of managing their release. How do I know? I was talking about the process with the guy blocking the front of the building. Basically, they closed off the tasting room during this time, which I thought was a good idea so they could keep the release running smoothly. Anyways, my wife and I ended up killing some time along the coast, and headed back, after the release. The ambiance was decent - very open, airy, and as the rater below me said "farmhousey". There’s not much going on in here, other than a view to the brewery and people hanging out. There’s a cooler for to-go bottles. Draughts were fine, as they did have Dinner, on draught, and fuck, that is a mighty good beer, but they didn’t have a single thing that I couldn’t find in stores, including older bottles of Dinner. There’s nothing to experience here, and really, it’s not in a remote location, so even with a "farmhousey" feel, it just doesn’t have a lot of uniqueness. I think this place is rather mediocre, even though their beers are exceptional. This place is worth a stop if, and only if, you have nothing else on your schedule. Otherwise, just enjoy the fresh bottles you can easily find in stores. Oh yes, there’s no food available.“

“Nice place. Farmhousey vibe in the tasting room with a nice view of the brewery below. Half liter bottles available at solid prices, 5 ounce samples for $2.50 each. Most beers at my visit I had already tried with one pilot batch beer which was pretty solid. Prices OK, plenty of parking and nice staff. These people make great beer. Maybe don’t expect a lot of ticks, but still worth a stop.“

“A comfortable place with great possibilities....the service was adequate, but the food lacked flavor.....no simply tons of salt flavor, but as if things were frozen.....the calamari had little to no taste yet looked impressive. The beer seems to share common yeast and many taste very similar....I was just expecting much more.....average, little more at the moment.“

“No tours or growlers. Extremely clean outside and tasting room. Windows in the tasting from let you see the workings of the brewery. We got the "all-in" flight - 5oz pours of all 8 beers on tap for $18. Sleek, modern style with shirts, hats, glassware, and bottles for sale. The service was exceptional. The woman at the bar played with our kids and set them up with paper and crayons.“

Impressive tasting room with a shiny new bar and brewhouse behind glass. Several taps available for enjoying, a cooler full of bottles to go. Chalkboard behind the bar will walk you through the particulars. No growlers or kegs for sale I tried ;) Friendly attentive staff on this moderately busy afternoon. Pricing is a tad better than retail. I would return if ever in the area.“

“Small taproom with view on the brewery. A bit cold for ambiance, but the beers makes it for that. Nice staff, super efficient. My only down point is the price of the beers to go. Altough quality is there and I’m willing to pay for it normally, 24$ for the equivalent of a six pack (in terms of quantity) of a simple pale ale like a tiny beautiful something, is not something I will do on a regular basis. But the beer is good, yes absolutely...“
