Party Time Liquor (Beer Store)
1835 LARPENTEUR AVENUE EAST
“I've shopped at every craft beer orientated Liquor Store in the area (E. Saint Paul, Maplewood and even Oakdale). They really got a sweet thing going on here- really fun store to shop, friendly help, best craft beer prices, always plenty of new beers every week I come in. I also like that they have a TON of craft beer in their coolers.“

“Located in the old Champp's building just off of 35E and Larpenteur. The interior was kind of as I remember it, dining area to the left and bar area on the right as you walk in. Plenty of TVs in the place. Service was good and fairly quick considering it was lunch rush time. Food was pretty good. Decent selection of beers. Decent enough to stop in if you are close.“

“Wow, great place. It looks a little run down from the exterior but inside the place is great. Great selection of bombers. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I could have spent the rest of day in there. They also offer tasting on Thursday nights. Worth the trip if you are remotely close. I will definitely be coming back.“

“I don’t think there is a better selection of bombers in the Twin Cities. They always get in the best stuff, and since it’s a pretty low traffic place, there is always opportunities to get the beers you want. Great liquor store. Also the guy with the goatee that works there knows SO much about craft beer and is incredibly helpful.“

“If it were not for the staff at this location, and solid selection I wouldn’t come here. It suprises me how high people have rated the ambiance and value. I will say that I am extremely excited to hear that they will be moving to a better and bigger space in the same mall. Like I said, the place is dark and cramped, in a tiny little strip mall, from the out side one might just decide not to go in... But once you get in the people there are willing to do anyhting for you and help you get what you are looking for even if its something outragous. Prices are slightly above average, selection is pretty fantastc!“

“Located in a "shopping" center, to say this place isn’t much to look at is an understatement. It’s fairly small on the inside but unlike most liquor stores beer is clearly the thing here. It must take up half the floor space. They have a number of coolers for the BMC and some craft sixers as well. They have a fairly sizable pick six as well as a nice Belgian section. The service was friendly as well. But compared to what I’ve just seen at Blue Max and Zipp’s this place is third best. They do have a few goodies I haven’t seen at other places but I don’t think this is Minnespta’s #1 place.“

“Stopped by March 28, 2013. pretty much no craft beer. A few dozen common Belgians and domestics. In no way is this location a good place to find craft beer. The salesperson even said go to falcon hts location. Don’t bother.“

“Have been to the other 2 locations and, although this one is to far away to justify repeat trips, it has the same great selection and low prices as the other stores. If I can find a sour ale I haven’t tried yet, I am happy--therefore, I am happy!“

“Small place that packs a big punch. Singles are cramped in a tiny section, but for an out-of-towner, this place really delivers. Great to see that there’s a discount, I believe 10% for mixing a six pack of beer. Seems like they get quite a gew rarities, but that’s just mere speculation. Had a mixer of Surly for me, which I didn’t see anywhere else. When my girlfriend and I pulled up to the establishment, as it’s pictured, I wasn’t expecting much, but they did surprise me. They had some older beers on hand, too, albeit, they were all mainly from 2011. Had a nice selection of European craft, but there was so much local stuff to be purchased, I didn’t bother. Great store. Not prententious, and definitely, relatively good prices. It’s good to have family in this neck of the U.S. Friendly folks working the register. Just remember that it’s a small space that packs a punch.“

“Couldnt even find the place becuase the sign on the front of the building was gone, I walked in and was immediately greeted by staff, who kept their distance and offered help timely but not annoyingly. Their selection is cramped in space but vast in quantity, lots of singles lining two big racks, with signs indicating new arrivals, and seasonals. Marked down beers which had sat for a while, offerings from Overseas including obscure beers I’ve never seen before. Surly cans kept in the cooler, picked up a BA Quad i’ve never seen before and chatted a bit with the help, was willing to offer suggestions. Really cool place, but tend to prefer a different store in the twin cities, would definitely come back though.“

“The guys working here are excellent, and if you can get there for a tasting in the dingy downstairs area, that’s worth it. The selection is truly excellent, with particularly good singles shelving. I find the place a little cramped and I’m sometimes less thrilled with their non-U.S. selection than their American selection. This is one of the two or three places in the top league of Twin Cities beer stops.“

“Tremendous store - stopped in on Dec. 8, 2011 for the Beer Geek Christmas party. Tons and tons of beers, and a lot of harder to find beers. Lots of 12 oz beers available in singles, which is always nice. Smaller shop, but terrific selection. Good glassware available as well.“

“My favorite bottle shop in the twin cities was recommended to me by Skyview. Pretty much everything is available as a single at reasonable prices and there’s a huge selection of bombers and 750ml bottles along the back wall. I was able to load up my trunk with plenty of stuff I can’t find in Wisconsin. A nice selection of glassware is hanging above the singles. Service was excellent!“

“Made my way to Heritage before going to the Muddy Pig. This is an older store located in a suburb of St.Paul. I wasn’t really looking for anything specific, so I entered the store more on a "just looking" mission than one "looking" for something mission. They do have a lot of beers here, a lot of which are found at other stores. The one thing I thought was nice was that they had a large selection of singles. Prices were fair, and the store looked clean. As far as the service...I didn’t take advantage of any do to the fact that I didn’t need any. If I make it back there I’ll try to chat with the beer guy. Over all a nice stop if you live in that part of town. “

“Stopped in on 12/9/10 for their Beer Geek Christmas. Greeted and helped right away by an employee and even offered some nice samples of Bell’s Batch 10,000 and Tyranena Double Down and Dirty (score!). The store has a wide variety of beers with most styles represented. They even had some Surly beers that I have not seen in a while including Abrasive and Wet. Ed introduced himself and we chatted a while about upcoming releases. I was very satisfied with my visit and will be back in the future! The only downside is that it is a little far away from me. “

“While I realize that there are many specialty beer stores out there in the world, the number that I have been to have paled in comparison to Heritage in every way. Each time a receive a "tip" from a fellow beer enthusiast regarding a store to check out, I am inevitably let down, because of the standard set by Heritage. Everyone who has been to Heritage understands the service is unmatched, but the real gem for me is the right-hand side of the last aisle. I am, of course, referring to their selection of Belgian beers. While Chimay is making its way into nicer grocery store selections, Heritage carries all seven Trappist brewery offerings, as well as many non-Trappist abbey-styles. Cantillion is not even on the map for most beer places, and Heritage must have at least four to choose from. Don’t be fooled by the macro neon signs out front--we all know people can’t make a living on craft brew sales.“

“Love this place! Selection is choice, tasting room is great, and the service is amazing. First time I walked into this store, I was greeted, and asked if I was looking for anything specific. I honestly don’t remember what I said, but I do remember how we spent the next 15 minutes walking around the store talking about numerous beers, styles, etc. I was taken down into the storage and tasting rooms, practically a personal tour complete with a tasting of some delicious brews that was just finishing up. When it comes to good beer, I honestly cant see myself going anywhere else.“

“Ill start out with my only complaint - this place should be closer to home. Unfortunately, its still a destination, but that hasnt deterred me. Joe and Eddie are great, and they really know their beer. Ive been here a number of times, and theyre quick to offer new recommendations and suggestions. They also do a great job of mixing things up and getting some new and hard-to-find beers that I havent seen elsewhere. Wonderful selection -from domestic crafts to a slew of imports- and reasonable prices. I just stopped in yesterday for their Beer Geek Christmas and was even treated to a number of beer samples from the private cellar -Tyranena BGW 06 Spank me Baby Barrell Aged and their Imperial Pumpkin. Every time I walk in, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Generally, Joe or Ed will start off by saying, Waitll you see what I just got in... or You gotta check this out... I know I just mentioned this, but these guys really know their stuff, and the customer service couldnt be better. Cheers to Heritage L“

“Definitely the best stop of a four-part bottle shop trip east of St. Paul. Tons of great sour beers, Surly and JP selections, and international beers. While there are some moderately rare finds here, the real strength is a kickass local and international selection of beers. My wife and I really enjoyed meeting and talking with joebrew, who was really helpful in helping me pick out beers and a great host. 10% off a mixed six-pack is a nice touch as well. A very highly recommended beer stop just north of St. Paul.“

“This store catches you by surprise, while not much to look at on the exterior, that is it’s only downfall. Great selection and am told it grows weekly, and not just anything, but selectively. The tasting room is awesome, Ed cracked a bottle of Founders Breakfast Stout to try. How many stores will let you try a beer you can’t purchase there. A must stop every time in town... “Seriously, if you need to read a review of this store to shop there...then you suck. Stop reading this right now and go! This place is amazing! Whatever it is....they have it. Whatever you want to know, Ed and Joe will tell you. I have never been to a better liquor store ever. And this place is bursting at it seams! It’s so small and still has the best selection around. The addition of the tasting room in the basement along with their first class beer tastings makes this place worth the trip no matter where you live. I have 4, yes 4 stores within WALKING distance of my house, one being Cellars on Lex/Larp and I am still willing to drive out so see Ed. By the way did I mention the prices can’t be beat...?“

“I stepped into this store at the very last minute (Before closing on a friday) to pick up some beer on my way to a buddy’s place a year and a half ago. From that moment on, I was hooked. Herritage was just starting out (well re-starting) and there wasn’t a lot to choose from at that time. Ed (the owner) gave me a few free samples to try out and we talked for a bit. From that day I have rarely shopped anywhere else. Everytime I step into this store, I see something new. The customer service is by far the best I have ever encountered and the knowledge of Ed and Joe leaves me in awe. I love stopping in and having Ed and Joe help me choose new experiences. I have another liquor store that is 2 blocks from my house. I will gladly drive the 3 miles out of my way just to buy from Herritage. Even while grocery shopping at the Cub Foods on cty b and rice, (there is a cub liquor right there), I will take the selection, knowledge, and LOW PRICES over convenience any day. Their prices are as fair as can be and you feel like you are talking with a long time friend when you stop into Herritage.“

“My good friend and former co-worker Joe is the beerbuyer here and has put together a top notch beer selection. While small, the selection is excellent with numerous area exclusives (finally scoring a bottle of Cantillon 50ºN-4ºE without trading overseas was a huge plus). On another note, Ed (the owner) provides some of the best customer service I’ve ever seen. I mentioned that I was looking for a certain liquor and he contacted the monastery in France to begin tracking it down. I’ve never seen someone go through that kind of trouble for a special order and the effort is greatly appreciated.“

“Interesting liquor store. They are clearly new and making the best out of what they have to work with, which from the outside is a worn out building. Inside is clean and well organized, if small. More interesting is the basement where tastings for beer, wine, and liquor are held, and this area is more like a lounge than a liquor store. Service was excellent. Anyone who shops in the Twin Cities knows Joe, but Ed, the owner, was very friendly and helpful, and clearly values your business. The selection is not quite as big as Cellars Roseville 1 or Blue Max, but this is not a problem because what isn’t there is mostly stuff you wouldn’t want anyway. I saw quite a few beers I have seen no where else in the Twin Cities, so where they might not match Cellars for quantity, they are more like Blue Max in that you are likely to find something you have never seen before. I will admit I’m not crazy about the location, but that won’t keep me from coming back.“

“I’ve been to this store a few times now over the past month, and every time I come back there’s always something new to be found on the shelf that is not at any other store within the metro area. This selection is going to only increase, and will definitely surpass all of the top stores shortly. The service is excellent, Joe knows all of the beers, and he’s one of the main reasons that this store will eventually accrue an awesome selection of rare limited release beers. The other employees are very knowledgeable as well. There is a very good selection of Belgians and a very good selection of domestic beers as well. They also offer a make your own six pack deal, which is a nice touch, along with a large selection of singles. If you ever get a chance to sign up for a tasting here, I highly recommend it,, as the room is perfect for such an event, and many great beers are sampled. I can only see this store improving, and if you’re ever in the Twin Cities, this place should be the one stop you make for beer.“

“This store is going to pack a lot of quality into a very small area. Everyone who has been or is a shopper at Cellars Lex-Larp knows Joe and knows that this store is only going to become more of a destination as he continues to get it set up. Selection is already very good with lots of the unique Belgian and Italian offerings for sale and the domestic singles shelves completely set up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the imports shelves are full right now. Basically, they’re going to get in on everything that comes to MN, although they might not be quite there yet. Currently still a good place to find the new beer that the other guys have run out of, but that probably won’t last too long. Joe’s service is always top notch and I have had nothing but great service from the few other people that have been around when he’s not there. He did a lot of legwork to get me a special case of Danish beer and has saved things for me a few times too. The tasting room is gonna be awesome! I look forward to seeing this store become as cool as it’s going to be.“
