“Pinocchio’s is really two entities in one. The Beer Garden is a small, narrow walk-in that houses a row of takeout beers in coolers that includes many singles of local crafts and rare brews. There is a small bar with a few stools that nestle up to the dozen or so taps that regularly include some heavy hitters from the likes of Russian River, Von Trapp and Hill Farmstead, to name a few. Some top notch locals are usually available, as well. The restaurant is considerably larger and you can get all the tap beers offered in the Beer Garden to enjoy with their tasty menu items that include lots of pizza choices, wings, sandwiches and entrees. The ambience is standard pizza shop with plenty of tables and a moderate sized bar. The staff is always friendly and attentive and fairly knowledgeable about the beers they serve.“

“After being a little underwhelmed by Capone's, this was my next stop, as it was on the top rated place list for Pennsylvania. The beer garden is more for the restaurant part of this establishment, but you can get beer here (table service). The tiny beer shop in the back is where the action is. About 14 taps available, mostly local and regional. Tiny standing room only bar, and a handful of stools and barrels near the entrance. It doesn't take much to fill this place up. Crowds make it difficult to see the coolers, nd there's a whole wall of them. Singles available. Local crowd gets loud, all the more louder in such a tiny space. Good service though, and I was finally able to get to the coolers when a few people left. Decent pricing.“

“Bottle shop, to go, and restaurant. Small tight parking lot right in front. I stopped by for lunch. I really enjoyed my four meat pizza. Service was good. Beer selection was good. Pricing was reasonable.“

“Parking was a bit of an issue, Pretty large eat in area and a downstairs bar with windows to the fermenters and a nice smoker out back .... bartender was very friendly, bbq was delicious ... beers were average and drinkable ... I’d def come back for the food and hopefully the beer gets better over time“

“This is the third Iron Hill location that I have visited. It is clearly up to corporate standards. It is swanky and modern, and there is a nice bar in the front. The Happy Hour runs from 4- 6 pm, but you get $2 off your drinks only if you order them from the bar.The food is good, I had the "Wednesday’s Meatloaf", and the vegetables that came with it were fresh. They did not bring bread with my entree. The beers hear were excellent. I had two, then sampled two others. They certainly understand brewing- and they are creative. Kate was our server and she was good“

“Large, woody facility with brewing operations visible behind glass. Adequate TV’s for sports viewing but unobtrusive if unwanted. 9 seasonal taps + 7 house beers + a RIS available in cans. 4 beer flights [4 oz] available at $6.“

“Not much for a beer bar, but at least the 4 taps are not Coors or Miller. The liquor selection is incredible! The food is slightly high in cost, but they have great happy he pricing and the staff are awesome.“

“This is the place to go south of Philly. A great bottle selection of what they say is a thousand and that’s what it looks like. The tap selection is top notch, about 20 with a constantly changing list. The food in the restaurant is very good. The guys in the beer garden are great, very friendly and knowledgeable. Samples are always offered. he prices are very reasonable. Not easy to get to but worth the effort.“

“Visited for a late lunch on a Monday. This is really 3 places in one, with the restaurant space and the macro beer space up front and the craft beer “garden” around the corner. I ate lunch in the restaurant space, which is laid out Diner style with ~ 10 bar stools, and many booths and tables spread about. There were 24 or so taps, great selection of regional and national craft beers. Each beer was offered draft or via growler to go. They also sold a wide variety of empty growlers from a cheap 32 oz medicine bottle to a fancy Brauler. I had a mini pizza which was fresh and tasty, the cheese steaks also looked solid. Next to the restaurant is a small macro beer, which there is no reason to visit. You need to walk around the corner to access the “Beer Garden” which has a great selection of craft in the coolers, a small 3 or 4 seat bar, and a few well chosen taps. The place is cramped, though everyone in it was in a great mood so it was a lot of fun. Overall experience is great.

82 = ★★★½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Quite impressive selection of bottles and draft..staff is helpful and willing to be honest and guide one into what are solid selections to try..have some rarities that are worth seeking out..only real issue is fairly high prices..but it is worth it for the most part for singles..most bombers are way overpriced...didn’t try food..Can get growlers filled as well..“

“Just bought from the beer store side. Did not eat in the restaurant. Incredible selection! Higher prices than I am used to in GA but lots of stuff I’ve never seen before. Everything is available in singles. Also have draft for on site consumption and to go in growlers but I was in a hurray and did not pay very clise attention to the selection.“

“Only complaint on the ambiance is the noise...somewhat busy night for the dark humor rising release though. Excellent service, damn good food, and very tasty specialty beers...house beers are boring just like the WC location. Prices are slightly high. I like how the bar is more separated here than in WC.“

“This place is a local gem. We started going here for an annual holiday outing about 5 years ago. Have gotten to know the owner and he always treats us great when we come in. I also find myself having to make a stop in this place whenever I am in the town of media. Very unique beer selection. The menu could be a little more descriptive - sometimes you really don’t know what to expect from the beer based on the menu description. Food here is very solid - wide selection and reasonably priced. Think we will continue the tradition for years to come.“

“Great selection and one of the few viable locations to find craft beer in Delco. My only real complaint is the pricing. The markup is massive. Let me give you an example. A Trappist Rochefort 10 retails for $10 or $11 at Pinocchio’s. The same bottle at Total Wine & More, down the road in Delaware, retails for $6-$7. If you are looking to buy a single, it might be ok to pay the convenience tax of grabbing it here. I’m generally not ok with this. The best option here is to get a growler filled. Most drafts will run about $20... but it’s fresh and there are many options. In sum, if the pricing was a bit better, Pinocchio’s could achieve greatness.“

“Great pizza ship / bar / package store. Had four great drafts where several were only $3 for Philly Beer Week. Pizza was outstanding. Beer Garden had tons of beer of many varieties. I did not pick up anything outrageous but did make a very nice mix of 7 brews for $24.“

“Stopped in on June 3, 2012. Cafe style joint with a great tap list. Huge bottle selection. Cheesesteaks. Cool spot. The take-home beer store is incredible - about 800 or so to select from. Cigar City, AleSmith, Russian River, Port/Lost Abbey - lots of goodies!“

“i wish it didn’t take me a half hour to get to this place! i would certainly be here more often if that were the case. cheesesteaks, pizzas, and beer. i can’t really ask for much more. the beer selection is not easily matched and everyone behind the counter knows what they’re talking about. with 20+ taps, being able to sample is a must... and they’re glad to help out! i’ve heard people complain about the mix-a-six prices, but that’s easily offset by the cheap food prices. i don’t think the bottle prices are any more than other shops in the area. right on par with a place like capone’s. i recommend you stop in if you’ve never been, you won’t regret it.“

“The good: top notch selection at excellent prices. Quick growler fills with rotating taps. The bad: too small and crowded to expect even decent service from the guys running the place. Also, they will pour pints so it becomes really difficult to access the coolers with people hanging out for hours at a take-out shop.“

“Only commenting on the bottle shop part of Pinnocchio’s. Small space which is mostly taken up by beer fridges. I’m OK with that. Great quantity and quality of bottles available. I picked up a mixed sixer of stuff that I don’t recall seeing closer to me in Philly as well as a growler of Founders Breakfast Stout. Plenty of taps to choose from and the prices were quite reasonable for PA/Philly. While it is a bit south of the city if you are out that way for any reason I reccomend a stop. I usually go a bit out of my way to be able to stop in but never second guess my decision.“

“One of my favorite places. Yes, it has the feel of a diner/cheap pizza joint. But there are TV’s with sports to watch, friendly waitstaff and great pizza and beer. So, I dig the vibe. Selection is great for those of us in Delaware who want a quick hop to the land of better selections. The service, as mentioned, is always friendly and helpful. A couple times I just mentioned that I was having a hard time picking between beer A and beer B, bang, two samples brought out without asking. Taps rotate fairly quickly, making me want to go back very often.“

“I was very worried wjen I walked into the "To Go" door of Pinocchio’s only to find a fridge of Labatt’s and Bud Light. Fortunately, the guy at the counter directed me around the corner to the "Beer Garden To Go," where a treasure trove of beers were waiting, as well as a handful of taps. I had barely selected my first beers when somebody thrust a glass of Lagunitas Holiday Ale into my hand. That made Christmas beer shopping much easier. Selection was extensive and very solid. Definitely woth the short trip from Philly.“

“Tiny place, barely room to look at the coolers and have anyone else in the space moving around. Selection is very good, service is adequate, pricing was decent for what I purchased. I would recommend as this place based on selection. I made just a quick stop and would frequent again if in the area.“

“We popped in on a tuesday afternoon for a beer and some lunch in the dining area, then a browse through the beer store... food was incredible for what i would consider a pizza joint... has the feel of a diner with some beer taps, albeit pretty awesome beers on tap... as for the store, fairly priced incredible selection, some rarities as well as some big brands... gotta sell lots of the BMC’s to sustain the craft business, seems like they understand this... Cant have one without the other, married with children theme song, you can learn a lot from that show...“

“other than the fact that its clean, it has little in the way of ambiance...it feels like a diner/sports bar and is far too bright for my taste. however the restaurant service is friendly and fairly quick. i had a very tasty pizza off of the menu which features traditional pizza shop offerings...I’ve gone on to try several sandwiches and appetizers on future visits...all were excellent. now on to the beer...very nice draft selection with a mix of imports and crafts...some local rarities. and the bottle shop is excellent...only capones can rival it in this area. lots of hard to find bottles here! prices in both the bottle shop and restaurant are fair for beer and food. i highly reccomend a visit! they also offer growlers which seemed to be priced a bit high but my experience in that area is limited so i could be wrong.“

“Lightning fast visit with a local friend, as we scored some pie for his boy. Friendly, family-oriented vibe to the place. I didn’t sample the food myself, but was assured that it was quite tasty. Bottle shop offerings looked impressive, without the range of rarities you can find at Capone’s but with perhaps a wider gathering of what’s available via distro in PA. Nice, if relatively limited range of taps and growlers to go, of which we picked up two tasty ones. I look forward to going back next time I’m in the area. UPDATE: bumping my score up after more time in the bottle shop. Awesome place.“

“This location fits in with the format of the Iron Hill in terms of the look, food, and the beers available. They had the typical 6-8 beers that you usually find at an Iron Hill plus 4-6 that were specific to the particular location. This one is my least favorite so far. I wasn’t feeling any of their specific beers, the tripel was especially tragic, the service was not particularly good, the ambience was off, and $5-6 for a pint seems a bit much for the Philly suburbs. It’s not hard to believe the place used to be a grocery store. There’s parking available in the back and on the street. I might go back if I’m in the area to visit the other good beer bars.“

“The best bottle shop in the Philly area--and that is saying something. A comprehensive selection that is constantly growing and being restocked. Tim and Dan run a great spot where you can get growlers filled, try samples, and even have a glass or two along with some pizza. The prices are better on most and not far off on others. If you haven’t been you should stop in... it just might become a regular stop.“

“I can’t speak for the food, but it’s worth a stop if you are in the area for the bottle selection. They have a good selection of stuff from PA plus some harder to get breweries like Cigar City, Port Brewing, Lost Abbey, Hair of the Dog, and Alesmith. Unfortunately they aren’t too kind on the wallet. Expect a fairly substantial mark up. If you have some noteworthy trade fodder, apparently the owner has a shelf of goodies available for trade only. The staff was very helpful and willing to give samples of what they had on tap too.“

“It’s a pizza joint, a busy pizza joint! It kinda has a weird ambiance if you are looking mainly for a place to drink a beer, but if you want pizza, beer and a family atmosphere, this is it. It has the feel of an old school dinner, and should not be considered a bar even though it has numerous taps. It’s a pizza joint! Food is that of a pizza joint, pizza and spaghetti. Value for mone, is good. Now onto the good stuff! Staff are friendly and attentive. Beer selection is great and good value. Great pizza and an all you can eat at 6.95 who can beat that? Bootle shop is amazing with a great selection and great knowledgable staff. If you want good pizza, good beer, friendly service and a great 6er to go this is your place.“

“The Beer Garden is a very small room behind the pizza shop. One wall is fridges for individual bottles, and the spouts for growlers are in the back. As a local, my experience is that Pinoccio’s food is mediocre at best, and you’re better off getting your pizza almost anywhere else in town. The parking situation is terrible here. On the upside, the staff at the Beer Garden are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and were able to answer my questions better than anywhere else I’ve been. The selection here is incredible, and a sign boasts 800 kinds of beer. Pennsylvania’s ridiculous alcohol laws make it almost impossible to buy individual bottles, so this place is a treasure trove of beers you can’t find anywhere else in PA. Unfortunately, the prices are at least 20-30% higher here than if you take a short drive to DE. Very expensive. This is a good place for Pennsylvanian’s to get those hard-to-find treasures and answers to questions, but at a high premium price.“

“Stopped in while visiting family in South Philly. Super nice and knowledgeable staff. Very good selection of beer. Majority of their beer is already in a cooler and I’m a fan of keeping them on a shelf. If you are in the area, they have an excellent selection. “Visited a couple times now... I sat at the bar, looks like there are twenty taps or so, easy to find something that will make you happy. Kind of reminded me of a dinner, typical pizza place. Pizza is tasty. Only 8 or so bar seat but good amount of tables available. Family friendly... The actual bottle shop is what most impressed me. Andrew/joe (employees) were very helpful and knowledgable... Lots of west coast goodies that I cant find in the DE/MD area and growlers! Growlers are a good price but bottles are expensive.“

“Twenty taps, growler fills and over 800 bottles of beers and counting would be enough to peak any BM’s interest. Add to that some extremely knowledgeable, patient staff who are fun and VERY generous of their time, etc. and you have a "don’t miss" locale. That’s what Pinocchio’s Beer Garden has become for me and should be for you. Tim, Dan, and Trey have taken so much time - to educate without attitude, to help me find things, and just generally do anything they can to help me enjoy craft beers. They are true "beer advocates." Pinocchio’s Beer Garden is a small place attached to their restaurant. It is not uncomfortable and the restaurant is next door if you want to sit, etc. Another great aspect of the place is their effort to keep their clientele informed. They maintain a mailing list, facebook and tweeter updates and a fully searchable list of their beers on their website. I can only imagine how much DAILY work is required to keep these current. Parking is sometimes a problem and the traffic in Media can be annoying, but once you are in, you’ll be back again and again.“

“Quality brew pub in suburban Philly. The food is varied, and of high quality. Their house beers are good sessionable choices, but their rotating beers take it to another level. They have a great rotation of German style (the Altbier was awesome), Belgian, and IPAs that are all worth a try. A winter visit is a must if the Bourban Porter is on tap! Great proximity to another great beer bar (Quotations) and bottle shop (Pinnochio’s) make this a part of a fun night for a beer geek.“

“A quality beer destination in the suburbs. Pretty good food, especially the Neptune Burger (topped with crab meat). Very different kind of tap list from most of the places in the area, as they do not carry local beers. Gives the place a very different flavor for a change of pace. Almost always have Aventinus on tap, in the correct glassware, so that is a major plus for me. Lots of Bells products too, last stop there netted me a Third Coast Old Ale. The proximity to Iron Hill and Pinnochio’s (for take out bottles) adds to making it a great stop for a fun night of drinking. Highly recommended suburban stop.“
