58 /100 1115 16TH ST Bar with about 9 own beers. Dark and loud. Pool table and tvs. Flights available, but at $5-9 per beer it is hardly a great deal. Average beer. No food. |
52 /100 Il Giardino Ocean Drive (Restaurant) 1236 OCEAN DRIVE Just a restaurant in Ocean Drive with nothing really notable either on tap (Corone Extra, Blue Moon, Modelo Especial, Peroni) or in bottle (Bud, Michelob, Modelo, Miller, Corona, Heineken, Stella Artois, Sam Adams - ok, Sam Adams, etc), but at least it helps surviving the heat and the burning sun |
66 /100 210 11TH ST Great ambiance and their own beers on tap; worth visiting |
30 /100 Yard House - Miami Beach (Restaurant) 1681 LENOX AVENUE I've been to a lot of Yardhouses and you pretty much know what you're going to get. A bunch of bartenders who don't care about beer and know nothing about the hundred-something beers they have on tap. That's all fine, when I find myself in these places I typically zero in on the local tap section for a flight of ticks at least. This one had a pretty generic list - couldn't see even six beers I hadn't had to make a flight, so just ordered the one local Wynwood IPA. It was quite an Odyssey to get to that stage though. First, walked in about 2pm, sat at the bar. Sat for 5 minutes before realizing I was likely on my own here, so got up and walked down the bar to get my own menu. Five minutes later bartender shows up to ask if I want anything, and have to ask for the "extra local beers menu." All yardhouses have a set list of like 50 or so beers that never change, and that all beer nerds have had most of. Then they have another 20 or so local beers. Typically these lists are about 5 blonde ales and maybe a few peach hefeweizen type beers from a few of the larger local breweries. Lowest common denominator stuff. Then some local IPAs that you can get anywhere else in town. Novelty beers is not Yard House's forte.
Anyway, I ask for the local beers menu and the guy directs me to the QR code, with a degree of irritation. QR code brings me to exactly to the same menu I have in my hands - the basic 50. Finally, 5 minutes later, another more competent guy shows up and I ask him for the extra menu. Ten minutes goes by while he prints one, in which time I ponder, "If they don't want to sell the beer on these taps, why have them at all?"
Finally I get the list and order an IPA. I drink it in like five minutes and leave. A horrible Yard House, even in the "Let's give smiling service" sense of the holy North American chain restaurant. |
66 /100 Lost Weekend (Bar) 218 ESPAÑOLA WAY A good place for a drinks stop whilst walking Ocean Drive, it’s less than a 5 minute walk from OD, and has sensible pricing. It’s a sports bar, but being a weekday afternoon in November, the place was quiet so service at the bar was quick & friendly. Not many beer styles on tap but they have a wide selection of bottled/canned beer available in the fridge. I tried one of the few crafts on tap, namely:- Miami Pale Ale by Biscayne Bay Brewing of Doral, Miami. Give them a look if you want to avoid the crazy high prices of the bars on Ocean Drive. |
70 /100 1115 16TH ST Sort Abbey Brewing out as I’m a craft beer fan. Ideally located near Lincoln Road Mall, so makes a great break from the shops. As it was the middle of the afternoon on a November weekday the place was quite, so service at the bar was quick & freindly. Range of beer styles available on tap when we were there was a bit limited (no stouts/porters) but would recommend for a craft beer if in the area! |
70 /100 Yard House - Miami Beach (Restaurant) 1681 LENOX AVENUE We came here on 21.12.2018. We always have liked Yard House as it is reminding us about the early days, when we started to like US craft beers in Palm Springs and San Diego. Although it is a chain and commercial this place is professional. Good beer quality, selection could be a bit better and service was well educated. Food was good as always (great Taco Shrimps). A more than solid place. |
60 /100 1115 16TH ST We came here on 21.12.2018. Small and very dark beer bar. They claim to be a brewery as the beers are brewed on their behalf somewhere in Florida. 9 own beers (mainly Belgium style Dubbbel and Tripples) and 5 guest beers (Apricot from Los Coast). Tried the Dubbel, which was quite good. They have a small but good Belgium bottle beer selection - Duchesse de Bourgogne, Delirium, Rochfort etc. Place is too dark, bar not very comfortable and music was too loud. Seems smoking is permitted. Service was knowledgeable in pouring the beers. They are using Pabst Blue Ribbon beer coasters ???? (a reason Ben might like this place). Just an ‚ok‘ place. |
38 /100 1115 16TH ST The only brewery option in Miami Beach, so maybe worth a visit on that note alone. The place is a dive bar with a pool table and very darkly lit interior. 9 of their own beers on tap, with outrageously priced flights available - such is Miami Beach: 4 for $18, 6 for $26, and 8 for $32. Belgian beers are way too sweet and estery, and barely drinkable; imperial stout was cloyingly sweet. Just not good beer quality. Service was friendly, however. |
86 /100 Yard House - Miami Beach (Restaurant) 1681 LENOX AVENUE I was very impressed with this place. As a tourist I’d never heard of Yard House before so didn’t know it is a large national chain. Presumably this venue is like others around the country - it’s a large sports bar style place with booth seating around the sides, a bar in the middle and some low and high tables in-between. There is also a patio here but late on a summer afternoon is way too hot to consider. We were there during happy hour and had some bargain food and pints at $2 off usual prices. The food menu is upmarket pub style. Service was excellent when we visited. As for the beers, with somewhere close to 120 taps there is bound to be something for everyone. I noted a bias towards Florida brews but there were beers from everywhere with the list organised by style. I think many of their taps are regular fixtures on the menu but there is also a short list of special seasonal brews as well as rotating taps from some of the local brewers. All up somewhere I’d be very happy to revisit next time I’m in town. |
56 /100 1115 16TH ST Not somewhere I’ll be racing back to. They have a handful of their own beers on tap plus a couple of guest taps. Also a few cans/bottles from other makers. Service was patchy when we visited. The main downside is that it is quite a small dark venue and smoking is permitted. There were only a couple of smokers when we visited and it wasn’t busy so I’d hate to be there if it was full of smokers. The only food options seem to be crisps and peanuts. The beer I had was fine but as a venue I’m surprised it rates so highly. |
76 /100 1115 16TH ST Good beer and good service. |
78 /100 1115 16TH ST Great visit on my last day in Miami. Had 7 very good beers (flight of 6 from the brewery plus a finisher), place has great service, and a super atmosphere. Great mix of music playing. Very glad I found time to visit before leaving the USA. |
66 /100 8 oz Burger Bar - Miami Beach (Restaurant) 1080 ALTON RD Can’t really fault it knowing that it’s a burger joint. About as solid a lineup of beers as can be expected, but come here for the food...not the beer. |
76 /100 1115 16TH ST What I liked about this place is really felt like a respite from the rest of Miami Beach, just kind of a quiet bar which was a nice place to stop for a couple beers. The selection was six of their house beers (contract brewed off premise) and just a few more taps. Their Belgians were really quite good and the other beers were mediocre but at least not riddled w/ off-flavors, albeit all of them were a touch on the sweet side. This is basically brewpub fair from 2002 right down to the very friendly bar tender who explains each beer to you as if people don’t know what an IPA is these days. Prices were maybe a touch on the high side but that’s Miami Beach for you. They did offer a sampler of all six house beers for $22 though so not bad if you just want to try everything. This is not exactly a ticker’s paradise but I could see myself coming back around if I need a quiet beer in the area again. |
74 /100 1115 16TH ST Small little brewpub in a trendy and busy area, parking is a nightmare. Service is great with the owner about will chat you up about the beer and plans. Service is great, but no tasting flights. He will however do 1/2 pours for you at a bit of a premium. Beer is actually pretty good. Not much to choose from so I don’t know if I would go back, but I was happy to have gone. |
86 /100 1115 16TH ST Extremely gracious owner. Beers were top notch. Excellent for the styles. Didn’t eat. Worth a stop definitely. |
74 /100 1115 16TH ST Fun way to waste a 5-hour layover at MIA. Small, dark interior, kinda British styled ambiance. Mix of 5 house brews along with many other taps and bottles from around the country and world. Very friendly and attentive staff, I never had to flag anyone down to either ask a question or order a beer (and I was at a table, not the bar). No gruff attitude was copped by the fact that I didn’t finish any of the flight tasters of their house brews (which are overly sweet as a rule, and mostly simple)...I was polite about it and they were too. I didn’t drink anything 4+ here, but I enjoyed sampling both tap and bottle stuff since there was plenty of things I’d never had. |
66 /100 Whole Foods, Miami Beach (Beer Store) 1020 ALTON ROAD Decent selection. Plenty of stuff that is not distributed on the West Coast where I live. Brooklyn, Cigar City, Founders, and some other Florida stuff. Talked to the beer guy there and he was knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are standard Whole Food prices. Place is crowded, but most Whole Foods are. |
80 /100 1115 16TH ST Cool laid back place. Went twice while in Miami Beach. Prices are not bad, especially for the area. The house beers were $7 each. I also had a Brooklyn Pilsner on tap for $6 and Founders Breakfast Stout in the bottle for $8. Bartenders were very nice, especially Natalie. Hope I spelled here name right. No food available, but take this suggestion. Go to Yardbird Southern Table next door. It is a little pricey, but the food and cocktails are there fantastic. |
72 /100 1115 16TH ST A nice kind of gritty place, very distinct from all the splashy places in Miami Beach. Wooden benches, smoke in the air, dark. Very friendly and informative staff who explain the beers. Their own beers (contract brewed) are decent. About 4 on tap, They also have an okay selection of other beers but nothing rare. Definitely the best beer place in Miami Beach. (About a 20 minute walk from the action.) Worth a visit. |
70 /100 1115 16TH ST Okay little place but had a little trouble finding it at first since there is larger bar next door with bigger signage. Selection is mostly their own stuff with a couple of other taps and bottles mixed in. Not really a destination place but worth a stop if you are close. |
66 /100 Whole Foods, Miami Beach (Beer Store) 1020 ALTON ROAD Surprisingly great celection of craft beers. Kept me stocked up while my stay in South Beach. Only place during my trip tu USA where I’ve found Stone Enjoy by IPA. |
72 /100 1115 16TH ST Nice place in the middle of South Beach, Miami. Quite nice selection, laso with local AQbbey Brewing beers. God value in happy hours. Will come back when back in Miami. |
62 /100 1115 16TH ST Decent little place for Miami Beach. Small and dark. Wasn’t impressed with the offering of house beers, but they have a number of additional taps. Worth a visit if your in the neighborhood, but not worth going out of your way for. |
70 /100 1115 16TH ST A dank little beer joint on 16th. A selection of their own beers with a moderate bottle and tap selection. That being said, an incredible bourbon selection with decent prices. Just polished off some William Larue Weller. |
68 /100 1115 16TH ST Much smaller bar that you could imagine on their website. Therefore, it quickly gets crowded over the weekend, but that gives this bar a good vibe. Not bad at all... |
76 /100 1115 16TH ST Visited early evening on a Tuesday. Smaller, dark space with a nice bar to the right, and tables scattered throughout. This most certainly does not have a Miami feel, though it has a lot of character. 4 house beers are featured, as well as a well chosen list of 10 or so of guest taps. Decent bottle selection as well. Most impressive was the Whiskey (in particular Bourbon) that was available. Friendly service, good overall vibe. Certainly a place to hit while in Miami. 76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
82 /100 1115 16TH ST This cozy brewpub features 4 house brews, an additional 10 taps,1 rotating cask ale, and a very choice selection of 20 "world class" bottles. The bottles include 2 Rocheforts, 3 Chimays and 2 Westmalles.
Easy to find and walking distance from the beach (about 1/2 mile}. Small but has a remarkable variety of seating, including 7 seats at the bar, one large u-shaped couch, a few booths and tables.
Great service. Clean. 2 good sized plasmaTVs. No food. |
50 /100 Gulf Liquors (Beer Store) 1681 ALTON RD Has a rather limited selection - worse than a typical grocery store in the Carolinas _ BUT they may have the best selection of beers in Miami Beach. PPerhaps better than the pitiful Whole Foods selection (pitiful for a Wholle Foods, that is). Strong point is the selection of Belgian brews in large bottles as well as 4r and6 packs (and a few small singles). No Cigar City or other quality Florida brews. Friendly staff. Located one block north of Lincoln. |
92 /100 1115 16TH ST If I ever win the lottery, this is the type of place I’d open up! |
74 /100 1115 16TH ST Nice bar, friendly service and a good selection of beers both bottle and draft. Sampled four of their own brews. Good experience and recommended. |
88 /100 1115 16TH ST Visited Abbey Brew Co. 5th feb. 2013. Nice place in a nice neighborhood. Service was exellent, we met the owner of the bar as well, very nice people. Selection isn’t huge, but it’s quality, mostly belgian/abbey oriented (like the name says). The place expanded and redid the interior a year ago typically brown bar style, nice details. All in all easily one of the best in Miami! |
64 /100 1115 16TH ST Visisted a few times in May ’10.
Dive bar type of place on the opposite side of the area to the beach.
Was, as others have touched on quite smokey.
Beer selection was Ok, nothing special, but as good as it tends to get in this neighbourhood.
I think I tried 3 of the house beers, contract brewed somewhere else in FL I believe, all pretty average but drinkable none the less.
As others have touched on can get very smokey in here.
Bar tend was a friendly older guy from Philly who I chatted with for a good hour or so.
Elsewhere - I probably wouldn’t bother coming here, Miami South Beach one of the best of an average bunch! |
74 /100 1115 16TH ST Nice small place. Perfectif you want to enjoy something different from the Miami club culture. The people that work there are very knowledgeable and serviceable. They’re own beers are pretty good. The selection is not immense but fair and adequate to the size of the place i guess. No food due to no kitchen. They do allow you to order from nearby restaurants or bring the food in. Overall a very enjoyable place. |
72 /100 1115 16TH ST Visited on December 2, 2012. Apparently they recently renovated and made the place bigger, heard something about them opening again in December of 2012 with the new place. Fairly small place, with some big screen TV’s showing sports. Sincen they allow smoking wasn’t the best place for rating. Nice and attentive and fairly knowledgable girl working the bar when I visited. Got me the 4 beers they had available as an 8 USD sampler. Didn’t eat or use the restroom, but the place was nice enough I’d say. Easy to get to if using the S-route/119 bus and getting off at the 16th street station. Decent amount of Belgian beers on bottles, as well as some other beers on draught. If you’ve only visited pre-2012 I’d say take another swing by, and if reading reviews pre-2012 bear in mind that was likely before the place grew bigger. |
58 /100 Gulf Liquors (Beer Store) 1681 ALTON RD It is a liquor store and it is on Miami Beach and besides Whole Foods there really aren’t that many stores to buy beer other than Bud and Sam Adams. This place does tend to have a few decent beers (mostly in the Belgian pocket, quite a decent number of 750s) but the problem is that they aren’t stored well and many things are in bad condition. They are pretty good about taking things back, though. |
76 /100 1115 16TH ST For what it is, a beer bar in South Beach, it’s in the top 5 for the area. If you have an aversion to cigarette/cigar smoke, you might want to skip it. Kitchen is a microwave and a chip rack, so you might want to eat before going. But alas, in South Beach it’s in the top 5. You go for the beer and you will have a good time. |
50 /100 8 oz Burger Bar - Miami Beach (Restaurant) 1080 ALTON RD If you want good beer and good food in South Beach, you don’t have a lot of choices. This shoudl be on the short list only because of lack of alternatives.
Ambiance was small-town burger joint, nothing suggesting good beer. Service was sometimes earnest, generally uncaring. Prices were good for South Beach. The food was, in our opinion, quite good, but I understand why some other reviewers did not care for it. |
36 /100 8 oz Burger Bar - Miami Beach (Restaurant) 1080 ALTON RD Weak. The service here is wretched -- you basically have to tackle your waiter or waitress to get anything. The burgers on which they pride themselves are mediocre to poor, and served on enormous puffy buns that rob what little flavor they have. The beer selection is okay, but the draft stuff tastes funky and skunky. Skip this place. |
76 /100 1115 16TH ST Great little find off the beaten track. Beer list is almost as small as the bar, but quality. The owner also brews some of the beers, so it’s worth trying. Place gets packed, and seating can often be difficult/impossible. Food is basically bar munchies (e.g.: White Castle microwavable sliders) -- edible when you’ve got the drunken munchies, but otherwise unimpressive.
A solid beer bar. |
66 /100 1115 16TH ST Visited on the weekend that the Food Network took over South Beach... traffic was a bear and a half. Parking situation is deplorable- not their fault, but part of the experience. Parked about 10 blocks away, and did not expect to stay long. Once I got in, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of taps, the quality of beer, and the good service (David took great care of us). The bar was dim and small, and was great for conversation. The bear in the room was the cigarettes- smoking is allowed inside, and it got bad, even at opening time. After we got to talking to the owner, Ray, and the bartender, things got better and we ended up staying much longer than we thought. Would go back at opening to hang out. Tried the Imp Stout and the IPA, both were pretty good (brewed @ FL Beer Co), and apparently had just missed the quad. I will be back to try it someday. Overall worth the trip, if you’re in the area. Park and walk, and wear walking shoes. |
92 /100 1115 16TH ST Tiny, dark, intimate, perfect! In South Florida, this is the the spot! |
