76 /100 5880 TX-121, SUITE 101 Nice view of ponds near the beer garden, large place, modern decor, busy as hell, Tall ceilings, more that 30 beers on tap, many other local breweries. I liked their stouts |
64 /100 5880 TX-121, SUITE 101 Brewpub in Granite Park, corporate feel with good food, large loud place, had the nachos and burger, Hefeweizen was nice, lots of parking good service |
48 /100 7800 WINDROSE AVENUE At Legacy Food Hall in Plano. Lots of 'bars' within the complex, but it was the same 6 or 7 beers at each one. Tried one beer that sounded the most interesting, and it was pretty lousy. The venue overall was cool - lots of food options, but I'm going to keep this rating to the brewery piece only. Was here for the NDSU Bison FCS Championship pre-game party on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, the day before the Bison won their 7th championship in the past 8 years. Horns up! |
64 /100 Bavarian Grill (Restaurant) 221 W. PARKER RD. Visited for lunch on a Thursday. Located in a large suburban strip mall, though they do a decent job of decoration with trees and plants that really soften up the parking lot vibe. Outdoor tables as you enter. Interior has a small bar area, though is mostly dedicated to tables. Style is very traditional German with knick knacks all over and a model train doing circles at the ceiling. The beer selection is German and pretty vast, though focused on all the breweries and styles one would expect. Food was solid, service was great. I am sure this place would be a lot of fun with a group sitting outside. 64 = ** (Just ok) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
46 /100 7800 WINDROSE AVENUE kind of an odd place rate. This is in the Legacy Hall complex. Ambiance for the complex is great; for UA - it is just a bar. place is busy; horrid service - very slow to get a beer. gave high marks for food b/c you have 20 options. great happy hour prices. shockingly low choices - didn't even have much of their own brews?? |
60 /100 Total Wine & More - Plano (Beer Store) 721 NORTH CENTRAL EXPRESSWAY #200 Similar to Dallas store, good selection , just check your prices at checkout , I’ve had numerous overcharges |
68 /100 The Ginger Man Plano (Bar) 7205 BISHOP RD STE E1 Pretty good selection, with enough local beers in good shape to keep me coming back. Service were good at the bar, but gave up trying to sit on the patio despite great february weather, due to slow/non-existing staff attendance. |
82 /100 Total Wine & More - Plano North (Beer Store) 8700 PRESTON RD, #113 Nice store with plenty of local beers, including seasonals. Also plenty of singles, which is a must when visiting a city for a couple of days only. |
76 /100 Total Wine & More - Plano (Beer Store) 721 NORTH CENTRAL EXPRESSWAY #200 This is one of the better beer stores in the North Dallas suburbs for selection. Prices are reasonable. Staff has lacked knowledge. Still one of my first stops for beer in DFW. |
100 /100 Empire Beer and Wine (Beer Store) 901 W SPRING CREEK PKWY 145 Swung by an accident and found a gem. The newest craft beer and liquor store and it’s amazing. Too many great choices of my fav craft beers. People are great and prices are fine too. 100 plus for cuatomer service. |
100 /100 Empire Beer and Wine (Beer Store) 901 W SPRING CREEK PKWY 145 Best beer selections in Dfw. Service is second to none. I haven’t seen these many local beers in one place. This place really rocks. My go to place now. |
80 /100 Spec’s Liquor - Plano (Beer Store) 5930 W PARK BLVD Wide variety of bottles and labels. Don’t have to know anyone to be offered an limited release stuff, priced about the same as other stores around. |
70 /100 Spec’s Liquor - Plano (Beer Store) 5930 W PARK BLVD Visited early evening on a Thursday. By Spec’s standards, a relatively small store. Beer is on the back shelf, and the long cooler wall. Selection is decent, prices are good with a good range of Dallas locals, national craft and imports. Features a shelf of warm singles that also featured most of the local Dallas regulars. Overall, a solid store though the Spec’s closer to town has a far superior selection. There is a nice looking deli on the other back wall. 70 = ★★½ (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
90 /100 Total Wine & More - Plano North (Beer Store) 8700 PRESTON RD, #113 Visited here in early October ’15 while in the area for business. A notch above any other Total Wine I have been to thus far, At least four aisles of beer to choose from. Just about any Texas brewery you can think of can be found here as well as most major west coast brewers. Large selection of imports and a complete section of nothing but seasonals which was nice. Several displays of higher priced bombers and 750 mls for those so inclined. Several hundred singles - which is what I am looking for when on the road. Solid retailer, will swing by when in the area again, |
80 /100 Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar (Restaurant) 3601 DALLAS PKWY Visited here in late August ’15 while in the area for business. Trendy upscale restaurant with lots of brick and dark wood. Nice big bar area which is great when dining alone on business. Very prompt service and delivery, food was out in less than five minutes. I had the salmon and it was fantastic. Tap list was pretty solid, moistly Texas stuff, split into prices, your commons, craft and then more pricey high ABV stuff. Prices were not outrageous considering the area. Friendly, talkative clientele as well. Highly recommended. |
70 /100 Spec’s Liquor - Plano (Beer Store) 5930 W PARK BLVD Solid liquor store with an excellent beer selection. Not much else to be said for it, though. |
40 /100 BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse - Plano (Restaurant) 1101 N. CENTRAL EXPWY. Usual BJs layout - bar area, regular seating, small "private" room. I’ve been to a few beer dinners in the private room that usually focus on one brewery or style of beer paired w/ regular menu items. |
78 /100 The Holy Grail Pub (Bar) 8240 PRESTON ROAD #150 Small pub in a shopping center with a decent amount of taps and a lot of liquor. A small menu of soups, salads and sandwiches at average prices. A few TVs with the volume muted. Decent place for a brewski.
|
78 /100 The Holy Grail Pub (Bar) 8240 PRESTON ROAD #150 Food menu looked very good but I was not eating, just stopped in for two pints. Happy Hour $4 Texas pints. Dark pub that could be anywhere. Lots of knowledgeable staff and plenty of taps. |
48 /100 The Holy Grail Pub (Bar) 8240 PRESTON ROAD #150 Looked like a a double sized version of the old monk inside. Decent music, but the noise level on a Sunday night on the patio that is also a wind tunnel was intense. The food menu looked great, but the two things we had were just ok. Selection is well thought out, but you will not find any whales. My girlfriend loves this place, but I could do without. Service was awful. |
90 /100 Whole Foods Market - Plano (Grocery Store) 2201 PRESTON RD great beer selection,,,, lots of single beers,,
WILLOW HILL HOME BREW CLUB,, |
94 /100 2001 W SPRING CREEK PKWY Great local pub, with ~15 craft beer taps. An unusual find in an old renovated building. Pub atmosphere, nice large covered patio, U-shaped wrap-around bar. Menu items are pub+, the burgers were fresh and tasty and the beer was served in proper glasses. Very much worth a look. |
86 /100 Vickery Park, Plano (Bar) 1011 E. 15TH I really liked this place. As soon as we walked in, I knew this was going to be good. Punk/indie music, lots of dim little lamps, candles on each table. Several craft taps, lots of bottles, and a properly trained cocktail mixologist. They have Foosball and table shuffle board. Good prices for draft beer. I feel at home here. |
82 /100 Fillmore Pub (Bar) 1004 E 15TH ST Excellent bar, excellent pub feel, excellent beer selection. Can get busy later at night though. |
64 /100 4900 W. PARKER RD. Mostly just a man-cave kind of place, decent beer on draft and in bottles, but the food isn’t all that great. Waitresses are nice and pretty, though. And there is always a comfy seat available. |
74 /100 Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar (Restaurant) 3601 DALLAS PKWY Pretty nice restaurant with a pretty good selection of beers on draft. Food is pretty good, though a little pretentious and pricey. Friendly servers, and always a good seat. |
84 /100 Total Wine & More - Plano North (Beer Store) 8700 PRESTON RD, #113 Classy liquor store, lots of craft beer. Nice, intelligent people. Usually a little cheaper than other places. |
78 /100 The Ginger Man - Plano (Bar) 7205 BISHOP RD, STE E1 Nice outdoor patio, lots of draft beer, friendly bartenders. All at a decent price. |
76 /100 BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse - Plano (Restaurant) 1101 N. CENTRAL EXPWY. They make their own beer, and it’s pretty good, even for a chain. The food can be solid. Service and staff are nice, for sure. |
80 /100 Total Wine & More - Plano North (Beer Store) 8700 PRESTON RD, #113 A welcome addition to the area. Selection does not blow you away but is easily the best in far north Plano or Frisco. A lot of singles as well. Guessing its much like all the other total wine stores. Pricing is pretty good overall. |
76 /100 Fillmore Pub (Bar) 1004 E 15TH ST Dark woody Irish pub, large beer list of mostly bottles but also have a few taps, and local stuff, walking distance to several nice restaurants as well |
60 /100 Kegs and Barrels (15th St) (Beer Store) 1905 W 15TH STREET Since Plano began to allow hard liquor sales and a new owner took over resulting in nearly 100 percent staff turnover, this place has really gone down hill. Beer is definitely now playing third fiddle to wine and liquor. With Specs, Mr. G’s and Total Wine and More only a few miles away, this is not a store to seek out any longer. 2010 rating One of my go to beer stores. One of the main employees is a RateBeer user with nearly 2000 ratings, so you know he knows his stuff. Nice selection. Not the best in town, but they have most of the beers available. Very nice selection of sakes as well. They have a nice selection of singles and will usually break six packs if you ask them. One of the better Plano beer stores. |
64 /100 Kegs and Barrels (15th St) (Beer Store) 1905 W 15TH STREET Used to be a go to place but with hard liquor sales taking over the beer section not nearly as nice as before! Typical c store |
88 /100 Whole Foods Market - Plano (Grocery Store) 2201 PRESTON RD Nice selection of brews that seems to be increasing as of late. Better selection than a few of the other Whole Foods stores that I’ve been in. Decent prices...unless you want a single. |
78 /100 The Holy Grail Pub (Bar) 8240 PRESTON ROAD #150 Visited December 2012.
I guess they do trivia on certain week nights, which was just starting as I walked in. I enjoy trivia but I’m not all that great at it. Also, it was a two hour commitment that I wasn’t prepared to make. And if you’re at trivia night and you’re not playing trivia you won’t be able to enjoy yourself with the MC making jokes, playing 30 seconds of a song at a time, and reading questions/answers. I guess you could have fun if you’re the type that thinks they are hyper intelligent because they’re on their smart phone all day looking up answers on Google, since there’s no rule that you can’t be a dbag know-it-all (so long as you aren’t yelling out answers) if you aren’t actually playing. All that said the food and beer were pretty good. The beer list wasn’t all that impressive, mostly Texan beers, but there was enough interesting stuff that everyone can find something good. We tried two different cups of chili, a bit of chili ticking if you will. One had ghost peppers in it and the other had a different combinations of peppers. I’m not a big fan of ghost peppers to be honest but sometimes someone will roast them just right and they’re not bad. The non ghost chili chili was definitely better. Service was friendly, prices were high, the usual for an upscale beer place. |
50 /100 Central Market - Plano (Grocery Store) 320 COIT RD Large selection but not as robust as the Dallas, Southlake, or Ft Worth stores. They have a small mix sixer section for trying new brews. |
70 /100 Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar (Restaurant) 3601 DALLAS PKWY Newer restaurant in Plano-North Dallas area. Unique menu with fresh herbs grown in the restaurant. Beer menu has several Dallas area brewers (Community, Real Ale, Franconia, Rahr, Revolver) and some decent U.S. regionals (Founders, Ballast Point, Firestone Walker). Busy and loud. Decent stop for a good dinner and a few beers. |
74 /100 The Ginger Man - Plano (Bar) 7205 BISHOP RD, STE E1 Been here a couple of times. Parking is always fun here (!). Decent beer selection but this chain seems to be resting on its laurels and has been bypassed by several establishments. Ok if you’re in the area. |
66 /100 Fillmore Pub (Bar) 1004 E 15TH ST Medium sized Pub/Restaurant in downtown Plano, stumbling distance from the DART station. I’d imagine street parking might be a bit hard to get on a weekend night. For some reason this place reminds me a bit of the Old Monk in food, atmosphere and beer selection. Basic year round selection of beers (with a few Texas, a few Belgian options, and typical national brand craft offerings) with a selection of a handful of rotating option (albeit only 2 when I visited). Food was a bit expensive for what it was, but was decent quality. Crowded atmosphere. Not a bad stop, but not a place to seek out either. |
84 /100 Kegs and Barrels (15th St) (Beer Store) 1905 W 15TH STREET Ericanders recommended I check this place out while in town and I do what Eric tells me. Well, there’s a solid selection of brews from Austin, lots of Blvd from MO and plenty of other offerings of interest to keep the geek in me wondering how I’m going to walk out of here with less than way too much beer. The bottles seemed to be split between cold storage and room temperature. Certainly a recommended stop if you’re in this part of town. The staff was friendly and helpful. I’ll be back here if I make it to this part of the country again. |
82 /100 Kegs and Barrels (15th St) (Beer Store) 1905 W 15TH STREET Really good selection. Prices are competitive. Good service. Wish it was closer to my house. |
72 /100 Central Market - Plano (Grocery Store) 320 COIT RD Nice selection. Friendly service in the beer section. Grab whatever singles you want. |
76 /100 Spec’s Liquor - Coit Road (Beer Store) 1453 COIT RD. Good sized store with deli in back. Not a huge selection but what they had was very nice. Found quite a few regional offering that I have not seen elsewhere in the area. Prob the best selection I have seen in metroplex so far. |
68 /100 S&K Beverage (Beer Store) 101 W SPRING CREEK PKWY, # 621 Your average sized liquor store with smaller than expected beer selection. Had nothing I have not seen at every other store I visited in the area. Would not go out of my way to here. |
74 /100 Kegs and Barrels (15th St) (Beer Store) 1905 W 15TH STREET Small store specializing in been and wine. Had a decent selection but lacking the special releases I was looking for. Had a larger import selection compared to some of the other stores in the area. Worth a stop as it is just down the road from 75. |
72 /100 Spec’s Liquor - Plano (Beer Store) 5930 W PARK BLVD Nice selection of micros, local/regional TX brews, and imports (with Belgian focus). Prices were a little bit higher than somewhere like Whole Foods, but the employees were very helpful and attentive. The beer manager even has a locked cage for one-offs and rare beers (not necessarily expensive, just hard to find) to help prevent hoarding. |
82 /100 The Holy Grail Pub (Bar) 8240 PRESTON ROAD #150 Lots of great beer on tap. Nice cheese plate. Is a little dark inside. Decent seating area outside. Nicest beer place I’ve been to in Texas. |
78 /100 Central Market - Plano (Grocery Store) 320 COIT RD This place is just like all of the Central Markets in Texas. Has just about all of the beers that are available in the market, with a few of them available in singles. Also a great selection of wine and cheese. |
92 /100 Kegs and Barrels (15th St) (Beer Store) 1905 W 15TH STREET Awesome. I’ve watched the selection of places to buy good craft beer in Texas grow over the past 5 years. This is a great exqmple. Great selection of crafts and lots of imports as well.i will definitely be returning. |
