The Hop Shop (Beer Store)

“|Small beer shop in central location. Good selection of local and international beers. Polite staff, guy was his first day in shop. Anyway he knew a lot about beer and was helpful. Ambience is nice, there are 4 beers on tap, so if you want craft beer in town, this is your choice.“

“2022 rating: visited the brewery shop, located in the courtyard. There were a lot of red beer crates and some locals enjoying the beer right on the spot. No English or cards at the shop, so very local experience. Still managed to get our beers and the prices were cheap. Didn't have to buy a full crate, so things have improved compared to 2015!“

“I have no idea in which part of city this brewery is 'cause we just did drive-in, grab beers, drive out. No English spoken. Cash only. Some drunks were drinking in front of gate, but this seemed to be ok 'cause they were selling beers to drink on site. As a brewery tick, quite ok.“

“A little neatly organized shop with many craft beers from basically everywhere. I saw some from Saarland, other germans and also lots of international. Everything is sorted by styles and nothing is really missing. So selection is pretty decent. Prices are ok. There are also 4 taps with varying beers. When I visited on a hot day there were 3 "light summer beers" with low abvs and a pale ale. From what I saw the best place to get beer in Saarbrücken considering its central location and huge selection!“

“In the middle of nowhere, amongst a gardening area, it's still worth a visit. The ambiance might be rather rustic, but the good beer and the excellent Flammkuchen are worth their money.“

“Don't get fooled. This is not yet another run of the mill Irish pub with Guinness, Kilkenny and a few lousy local macros. Located on the charming Skt. Johannmarkt, this pub has a good selection of craft beers, both German and international. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Fair prices. I would definitely like to come back one day.“

“Irish Pub wie 1992. 5-6 Craftbier Flaschen. In Saarbrücken schon weit vorne... wo anders eher nicht“

“Brauhaus ziemlich Abseits in Saarbrücken, aber der weg hier raus lohnt sich. Ca 8-10 Eigene Taps. Dazu jede Menge eigene Flaschen. Auch Biere, die garnicht auf der Karte stehen. Nach aktuellen Specials fragen! Dazu leckere Flammkuchen aller Art, auch All you can Eat. Biere absolut too, insbesondere die mit Frucht. Essen ist auch gut. Da muss jeder Bierfreak mal hin!“

“Craftbeer Bar auf Saarländisch. Craftbier nur 1 Vulkan. Ansonsten 2-3 Flaschen. Eher rustikaler Laden...“

“This place advertises itself as having "craft beer", but it is a little generic in that sense. When I went, there was nothing craft available on tap (the old Punk IPA tap was now just decoration), and only one bottle. It was a double IPA and not too bad. The only other patron was a loud, drunk local who told me I should drink the local swill - and that I should do so with a straw. The bartender spent most of her time either out the back or out the front, I think trying to avoid this guy. Hopefully they can improve, but there is not much demand for craft beer in Saarbrücken unfortunately.“

“When I went, they had a long list of "international" beers, but nothing interesting.“

“Flammkuchenhaus located about 5-10mins outside the city in a suburban gardening area. As Erzengel said parking can be quite difficult. Tasting tray of the 5 tap beers. More than 10 more bottles in fridges. We did All-You-Can-Eat Flammkuchen which was quite nice to try many different. (But keep in mind, as Flammkuchen take some time especially when crowded your feeling of satienty kicks in faster when you slowly eat a Flammkuchen every 20min). Beers are average, for me many lacked some body, a few exceptions. All bottles to go as well. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.“

“Fantastic "Flammkuchenhaus" in a suburb located between lots of gardens. Parking can be difficult, but the Flammkuchen are amazing! Always at least 10 different bottles available, very friendly and helpful service. Great Food & great beer! They only accept cash!

“Neat place, quite a large selection, even some ticks. They prepare beer cocktails, which is something I really value. Food is nice, pretty much in the British Isles’ tradition, and kitchen is always open. Decent selection of craft international ales, and also some alcohol-free brews. Oh, and they speak English, which is not particularly common around here.“

“Perhaps the best selection of beer in town. There is a rotating special beers board. Listed beers aren’t all permanent. Also has burgers and entertainment.“

“Clean and cosy brewpubrestaurant, whose owner was really amazed to have Finns on visit (and not even exchange students!). She welcomed us to have a look at the brewery equipment, which was really just located next to the kind of old school living room, which worked as a brewpub/restaurant. When going by opening time we we’re the first ones, but an elder couple came slightly later as well. Having Finns on visit was apparently the theme of the day then, since the owner spoke loudly about how nice it was in the kitchen and also with the elder couple. Very cheap beers as well. This one was about 10 kms outside of the city centre, but well worth a visit if you’re around Saarbrücken.“

“I am in a brewery, hw much better can it get. Intended to purchase some beers, but they only sell in crates. Bummer, but they gave me free sample for free. Happy.“

“Modern pub with some outdoor seating located just north of the Cathedral. Draught beer is from Karlsberg. The food was excellent value for money.“
