Amstein (Beer Store)

“I ordered them online so have not yet had the chance to see their store; nevertheless, based on their online selection, it is an excellent place with an incredibly huge amount of beers not only from Switzerland but also worldwide UPDATE: finally I had the chance to visit them in person...it is THE beer heaven!!!!“

“Large storage hall with beverages of all kinds. The beer corner is smaller than I anticipated, but was well stacked with Belgian, German and British beers. Not the extremely rare stuff, but a very broad selection of beers, that are difficult to get in Switzerland. The prices for those beers are insanely cheap (compared to other Swiss prices). The shop is difficult to get to, if you don't have a car, so delivery might be the better alternative.“

“It has been quite the experience to finally visit Amstein! For decades, Amstein has served as one of the sole importers of Belgian (and some other countries) beers to Switzerland, which is why the selection in the shop is very similar to what one can find in places such as Drinks of the World. So far, I have never seen a shop in Switzerland offer better value for money than Amstein. There are some classic Belgian sours for around 5CHF/3.75dl, which is outstanding. The selection seems to be changing over time, where I was able to order Cantillon a couple of years ago online, the bottles aren't available anymore - even at the shop. Similarly, Amstein doesn't really go after the newest hypes but seems to focus on the German and Belgian breweries they have good connections to. The shop is a little hard to reach as it is way outside of the town of Vevey but is definitely worth the hassle if you want to pick up a couple of bottles on the cheap.“

“I go often to this place by public transport. It is outside Vevey but it is ok to reach this place. The choice of beers is perfect and the prices are ok and cheaper than others places. The only critic that I coud do it is the choice of Swiss beers that it could be better and that They don’t have Ayinger anymore.“

“A very good supplier to work with. They are very kind and professional. They also know how to treat a good commercial partner. Their choice includes a lot of very well known and esteemed brewers. If you need a special beer and a reliable supplier, don’t hesitate.“

“Amstein ist importing beers since 40 years ! The main supplier of most swiss beer shops. About 400 beers from more than 30 countries. Many from Belgium and England but also Brewdog, some US and Swiss craft beers. A place to go.“

2009
Good selection of BFM including the last vintage beers; almost full range of Trois Dames; no more Thomas Hardy 1994; good selection of Cantillon (e.g. Iris 2000 etc, at great price!), fewer Unibroue, almost no more French beers, somehow less beers than in the past. There is a Bon-Secours of 18 litres (watch out! the beer is 160Fr, but the deposit for the bottle is 650Fr!).
2005
It’s not a mistery, Mr. Jacques Amstein knows his business, and for this reason the selection doesn’t rotate very fast; nevertheless you can find here Cantillon (e.g. FouFoune, Lou Pepe...), an old stock of Thomas Hardy 1994, different vintages of the new Samichlaus, many Trappist beers, big bottles up to 15 litres!; he is also one of the few European importers of Unibrue. You can open a bottle and drink it directly in the shop (warehouse).“
