“Classic British Pub with tasty food and some nice beers. Located right across from trafalgar Square, full of people during lunch time. Decent service, not too wide choice of beers, but still something to be found.“

“Visited many times before and last time 7th August 2023 - surprised I have never rated this as I have been here so often over the years. Great location close to Charing cross/Covent Garden, well presented small fronted place which is fine to drink out on the pavement, and indoors despite the size there is seating around the ground floor and plenty upstairs (just mind yourself on the stairs) Even though Fullers took it over some time back love that they have just kept it the same. Ok there is a few Fullers beers but there is still always a Kernel on tap, and without fail I seem to always score two or three new beers/brewery ticks mostly on cask (which is always in good condition on my visits) - always a must visit when in the area for me. Highly recommended.“

“Quite possible the best cask ale pub in central London. A free house with cask ales from different parts of the UK. There is always something interesting, well-kept beers on casks, or on the taps, as well. Rather small and narrow main room on the street level, but more seating upstairs. Friendly and knowledgeable service. Our fist visit to The Harp was in 2006, and the pub was, of course, included in our anniversary trip in autumn 2023 revisiting our best London pubs from 2003-2006. (Visited with Finn, 29.09.2023).“

“Two pubs on each side of a tunnel alley close to the Charing Cross station. We first came here back in 2003, and the pub was included in our anniversary trip revisiting our best London pubs from 2003-2006. Well kept and cozy main pub with some tasty Badger beers on cask and tap. Pizza options. Polite service. Family friendly - quite a few guests came here early on a Saturday afternoon. Retro music from Beatles and Kinks at our stay. Recommended. (Visited with Finn, 30.09.2023).“

“Pretty decent place showing a fine selection of cask ales and good things on keg as well. Despite the location not too loud or crowded even on a Friday night. No food served, but quick and friendly service on the beers.“

“One of a handful of traditional urban public houses that have resisted the lure to modernise for this tourist heavy part of the west end. It's a real ale pub with a long row of cask ales, ever changing as the 100's of pump clips stick on the walls above the bar would suggest. Keg ale is available here and there's one or two interesting lines - not the usual regulars you see in most other places around here. Long and thin, you can exit the pub into the very narrow alley behind, the walls are dotted with paintings.“

“Corner pub just up from the Harp pub and opposite the National Portrait Gallery. It has a traditional interior, decent enough, with very little natural light penetrating the inside, so the atmosphere is quite dark throughout the whole of the day. Being tourist central is serves food, and also only its own brews as this is a Sam Smiths concern. It does have its cask bitter though here complimenting its most regular keg brews.“

“Looking fine with its Victorian saloon-bar styling, it has a few rooms around a horseshoes bar sitting prominently after you enter. A range of Greene King regulars are the staple on the long row of cask pumps closest to the door, but there's another shorter row of guest ales around the corner, all of which are often brewed ones by microbreweries - some local, some further afield. There's a Whisky Room behind the bar, and food is served here, being tourist central they are mainly advertising fish and chips. Has a couple of often seen keg lines, which someone bought two pints worth for £12 just before I was served.“

“Lovely looking Victorian pub with all manner of ornate features, etched glass and art nouveau light fittings. Now a Greene King pub and mostly playing host to people / tourists who happen to be passing by, like me. Beer range is fairly bland, 5 cask, some Beavertown neck oil. Nowt to get excited about really, and only worth visiting to admire the old decor features. Staircase leading down to the toilets is plastered with old theatre posters.“

“Visited after a visit to Westminster Abbey on the afternoon of Friday 19th October 2018. Located opposite Trafalgar Square the Admirality is a split level Fullers pub kitted out in naval stylee ... the upstairs bars offers around double the amount of taps as downstairs. The downstairs has a number of booths dug into arches and is quite intimate and atmospheric. Selection wise this place is fine ... not up there with the Fullers craft houses but a good half dozen cask offerings from Fullers, including seasonals, and a few of their craft keg beers also. A medium sized bottle / can list offers some guest beers plus some more interesting Fullers offerings such as 2016 Vintage and Brewers reserve at very reasonable prices considering the location. What was not reasonably priced however was their own cask beer ... £5.50 for a pint of (DS) Hophead ... it's only 3.8% FFS ! Service was fine. Overall a nice enough pub and somewhere to dive into for food or drink if out doing tourist things with family, as I was, but far from a go to beer destination.“

“Easy to find and central. Quite a small old boozer with a certain amount of charm and an insane amount of costumers. Inside was crammed, alleyway behind the bar was full, street in front of it was full with one bouncer (?) making sure that we stayed behind the tapped line and people standing across the street with their beers and wines. Someone should get hit later of sooner. This is how plenty of old school UK bars seem to roll and we are talking here about a Wednesday evening, I am always affair to see how this place is on a Friday evening. Service was despite this very prompt, average prices but I only had cask beers. Fair amount of keg & cask with some common stuff and nothing crazy but decent enough. Interesting place, I questioned the cask a bit but I don’t know enough about it make a judgment. Overall an interesting experience, nice bar but standing outside and still almost packed like a sardine was a bit much for me but interesting for once. Very close to the National Portrait Gallery amongst other things.“

“Visited on 17th January 2017. Fuller’s pub just around the corner from the Arch bearing the same name. It’s a lovely old spot with the decor resembling a ship, lots of nautical tat on the walls but it’s not tacky. Feels really ornate. Beer range is mostly from the Fuller’s stable and a solid mix of cask and keg covering a good range of their beer. Also has Sierra Nevada Pale too. Prices are steep. Service decent. Nice Fuller’s pub.“

“I go to this pub quite a lot as it’s always a good meeting place and I have a fondness for the brewery. A largish pub so normally some space amongst the tourists and always a cheery atmosphere. If you stick to the taps they are pretty good value - although I was surprised the first time I ordered bottles in a Sam Smith’s pub. Not a particulalry attractive or trendy pub but I like it (the booths are always good to sit in with a bunch of mates).“

“I want to like this pub more - but it’s always been so busy. Good array of more traditional beers, with the odd Kernel, etc. Staff are friendly enough. Normally expect beers to be pricey in London but was surprised last time so dropped down from my standard averagd score. I drop in if I’m passing but not somewhere I’d stay for long.“

“Visited for lunch on 10/05/16. Trad Victorian boozer on Villiers St, between Embankment tube and the Strand. The POW is set on two floors, the upstairs being branded as the ’Rudyard Kipling’ dining room. Wood floors, old pictures adorning the walls and a mix of high and low seating are the order of the day. The bar is to the left as you enter dispensing 4 cask lines including Atlas, the house Nicholsons beer and a few other guests. Lots of pump clips adorn the bar suggesting a good variety in terms of guest beers. Craft keg included Firestone Walker Easy Jack which was good to see. Crafty stuff also in bottle format in the fridge including Siren and Brewdog, so something for everyone. The place wasn’t too packed for lunch, service decent, food tasty enough. Not a go to destination but some decent offerings on tap and you may well pick up a new rate amongst the guest beers.“

“Visited on 16th January 2016. Situated pretty much underneath Charing Cross station and a few steps from Heaven this is an unusual pub as it’s split into 2 across the street. We chose the right hand side as looked less busy, small room with a snug at the end, 3 Badger beers on tap, tried a couple and were well kept, prices not too bad. Got sat in a booth and relaxed. Private party upstairs had buxom young ladies in the full Durndel outfit popping up and down which nearly got me into trouble!. Nice old pub, not really a beer destination but if you desire some Badger beers then this is a decent enough spot to try them.“

“The bar staff were interested enough in my quest to become the top rater of Fuller’s Brewery to find out where Fuller’s Red Fox was on cask and found it at The Jugged Hare Victoria. So top marks for helpful service. Good place to stop in for a drink if you are on south side of Trafalgar Square“

“An excellent Fullers pub. It’s a high-ceilinged place with a luxurious air about it. Lots of wood. Great range of Fullers beers on offer, particularly in bottle. Friendly service. Definitely one of the better Fullers pubs I have visited. While the Admiralty is not a destination on its own, if you find yourself in its vicinity it would be further checking it out.“

“Tourist/young person trap across the street from the National Gallery et al, but a cozy interior. Had lunch here as we had just gotten off the plane and were starving. Decent steak and kidney pie and fish and chips, and the beer tasted just fine. Bartender was actually a sweetheart and was doing a commendable job as the only server/bartender during lunch. As Leighton mentioned, go to the Harp, but this place wasn’t bad.“

“Fantastic pub that seemed to be exactly what one should look for in a British pub; small, somewhat cramped space (but endearingly so), dark wood, beautifully conditioned ales, and old school charm. Had a few Dark Stars and a Kernel beer while I was here, sat upstairs with a school group of a professor and several students, all of whom were blasted. Awesome ambiance. Very central, and I would say a must visit for tourists considering its proximity to the city’s sights. Excellent.“

“2015-09-22. Nice classic English pub. Stools in front of the stained glass window facing the street. Long skinny pub with a more relaxed sitting area up the stairs of death. (Seriously, I am glad I was sober when I had to go to the bathroom! :) ) Server was friendly. Had a Kernel and a small cold pork pie that was pretty tasty. Prices seemed on the higher side, but then Kernel never seems to be cheap. Well worth a visit. “

“The final day of the 6-Nations was in full swing at this pub when I arrived on a Saturday afternoon. It was packed for it, but given its very central location it is probably packed throughout the week regardless of what events are happening. I never got out of the bar area which is relatively small, but I”m not too sure if there’s anywhere else to go in this pub anyhow. It’s a Victorian styled pub as many in this chain are and appealing for it despite the fact it’s quite simple in its design, fixtures and fittings. The ‘L’ shaped bar includes plenty of ales to choose from, most of which are situated on its corner. One man next to me ordered a soft drink, was given it, then instructed the server to remove all the ice cubes he’d watched her put in initially!“

“A former national pub of the year when it was, in my opinion, not the best in London. This is tiny, the beer range has improved and is worth the couple of minute stroll from Charing Cross. Dark Star beer featured heavily but a few guests too. Beer I had in good nick. Worth a look as handy for The pigeons in Trafalgar Square. Gets really busy in the post work rush and you’ll likely fight your way to the bar and drink on the street“
