“Friendly one room venue on the main road just north of the city centre. A good range of cask ales, plus interesting fridge options.“

“Hydes pub to the west of the town centre, although if you’re in the area and want to sample a Hydes beer, the ten minute walk is probably your best option. The pub has a local feel to it, but it has a nice decoration with at the bar separated from the majority of its seating by a brick fireplace wall in the middle of the room with a mounted television on it to show the football. With carpets and decent pub furniture it’s a quaint and relaxing place to drink. Perhaps the best reason to come here though is for a rare keg ale from a recipe that harks back to the Walkers brewery from Warrington, from the days before it even merged with Tetley!“

“On the northern edge of the town centre, but easily found on the main road after the small ASDA, this is a warm and inviting Wetherspoon, well furnished with a low lighting and little sunlight other than at its entrance. The bar is set back inside the pub along the side wall and there’s plenty of serving space as well as a couple of rows of ale pumps. It is traditional and familiar in style to this chain in decor and design.“
