UPDATED: MAY 20, 2022 Imperial stout de 13 % abv, mûri 6 mois en fût de vieux rhum. La base est la Black Albert, qui est déjà elle seule à 13 % .. A noter pour l'anecdote que le rhum conduit à un stout 'flavored', alors que le calva de ma bière précédente ne le conduisait pas … Il y a des mystères que seul l'esprit saint peut nous aider à sonder. Nous serons donc concentrés sur ce que le rhum a de plus flavored que le calva .. ce qui revient à un problème de fragrances .. Le paradoxe est que cette bière finit quasiment plus amère que celle au calva .. mais ce n'est pas la même bière ni le même brasseur … Donc les alcools sont bien relatifs à ce qu'on en fait, la durée de maturation et bien entendu la bière de base sur laquelle ils agissent .. CONCLUSION : beau rhum barrel .. Albert ! (music pairing : Albert King, en session avec Stevie Ray Vaughan .. du vrai old rhum .. )

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2022 Jeudi 21 avril 2022. Bouteille de 33cL. 13%. Encore une bière belge 'légère' de la part de Jean-Baptiste :) A la maison. Robe quasi noire brillante avec une écume beige moyenne ; rétention moyenne. Torréfié, café+, chocolat noir léger, boisé léger, (alcool) part là je veux dire que l'alcool est évident comme personnage de l'histoire mais bien intégré. Belle amertume modérée, légèrement épicé, légère rondeur, moyen sec rafraîchissant, base chaleureuse. Bonne présence en bouche, texture fine à moyenne, plat, final sec chaleureux amer torréfié sur le café. Bref, super, délicieux.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2021 Pours a pitch-black coloration with a small, frothy. mocha-colored head. Smells of quite roasted, slightly caramelly malt, distinct coffee aromas, lighter chocolate and hints of dark fruits and wood. Taste is an excellent balance of quite roasted, slightly caramelly malt, distinct coffee, lighter dark and bitter chocolate, some dark fruit, with notes of raisin and fig, as well as some tobacco, coconut and hints of brown sugar, earthy wood and spice, with accents of clove and licorice. Finishes rather dry and roasted, with a light bitterness and some coffee, chocolate and dark fruit lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light carbonation. This makes for quite a rich and complex brew with a rather dry, roasted, slightly bitter character and a distinct coffee presence, which I really love here, while the dark chocolate and fruits, as well as the barrel notes really give a that certain Caribbean fruit cake feel to this. I'm not necessarily a huge fan of rum barrels in beer, but they really are a perfect fit for Black Albert with its dark fruit and spice notes. Despite some hints of brown sugar, the overall lack of sweetness is very welcome here, while the coconut and tobacco accents round this out very nicely, while never feeling too boozy for its ABV either. Possibly my favorite Black Damnation so far, which I really didn't expect.
