UPDATED: APR 14, 2024 12 oz can from Total Wine and More in Short Pump, VA The beer poured a dark brown with a tan head and modest lacing. You detect traces of chocolate and roasted malts for the aroma. The flavors are solid: chocolate, roasted malts, and hints of licorice. The beer has a medium body and soft carbonation. Very nice!

Stellaaaa (297) - Tennessee, USA - MAR 24, 2024
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2024 It has a dark roastiness to the grain, but tastes like they used a very low amount of the grain in the mash compared to water, so it really has a very watered-down taste. It poured a very thin, see-through black with minimal head. I got a few notes of grain here and there, but it just really tasted very thin and watery. It did have a nice effervescence to it. I could also really taste the alcohol in there, even though it's a fairly standard ABV. There just wan't enough of a malt or hop flavor to cover it up. Overall, I'd compare it to a cola on ice that's been sitting out for a few hours. I won't waste any alcohol generally, so I can't say it was a true drain pour. But, after I tasted enough to get a good rating, I just chugged it and moved on to some better beers.

kdm1984 (1100) - Springfield, Missouri, USA - MAR 23, 2024

FlacoAlto (4461) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAR 8, 2024
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2024 Arrived from the tap with a nicely browned dark tan colored head the beer is a solid, black-brown color. Aromas of dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, wholesome toasted brown bread, and roasted nutty aromatics. Light bodied, with a solid carbonation, yet still more velvetty in texture than fizzy. Smooth roasted flavors, a bit smoky, dark cocoa, ample toasted whole grain brown bread, dark toasted nutty notes, and bitter, slightly acidic burnt grain flavors are all found here. This is a very smooth Schwarzbier, bit still packed with lots of flavor. A very satisfying example of the style.

MicroGrog (3255) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JAN 15, 2024
UPDATED: JAN 15, 2024 Cheap single from GBX. Still on the dark lager kick. Pint glass @home. opaque but filtered ruby brown pour underneath. Frothy, pale batter head. Caramel roast over a stiff herbal nose. Cookie batter, caramel, English Breakfast tea, weak prickly hop bite, lingering steel & a bit of dirt. Frothy & thin, medium acid, a bit too sweet. Okay.

thegreenrooster (6949) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 30, 2023
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2023 Pour is a black with a tight tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and cocoa powder. Flavor is more of a dark fruit with a minor roast and a wee bit of sour in the finish. Aroma was headed in the right direction but the flavor was a little lackluster.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2021 I was a little worried since this was a little over carbonated but it tastes just fine. Nice roastiness.
