UPDATED: SEP 7, 2020 2010 brew advised to be drunk up until 2015, drunk on 2020. 9/7/2020. Pale brown and cloudy, tall head. Aromatic nose, cheesy notes. Full body, very flavorful, unusually silky texture, juicy mouthfeel, slightly burning throat, lingering aftertaste, Strongly sweet but well balanced by bitterness, delicate crisp acidity. Predominantly malt but not lacking hop, fruity, raisins, prune. Fantastic beer despite being 10 years old and five years beyond the recommended.

drpimento (7576) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 18, 2019
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2019 This is a 2016 bottle. The Aromas are caramel malt, prunes, raisins and Oak. Flavors are somewhat like nose, a little Sweet at First followed with a lot of bitter. Some spice in the aroma and flavor also. Slightly soft carbonation and decent body but the lingering bitter gets a little in the way. Booze starts coming out in the Finish.

WortMeister11 (258) - TAIWAN - JUL 28, 2019
UPDATED: AUG 9, 2019 Aroma: los of toffee, butterscotch, grapefruit, little bit lemongrass or soapy, pine Appearance: mildly hazy reddish-amber color with a one-finger beige head. Lots of suspension. Taste: lots of toffee, syrup, grapefruit, pine, very high sweetness, medium-high bitterness Palate: full body, very chewy, almost syrupy texture, very little carbonation, bittersweet finish, booziness. Overall: It is without doubt a super malty bomb with robust hopiness from American variety and gives an impression of caramelized grapefruit. Its flavor is really nice, but the complexity is low, otherwise it would be perfect. Decent barley wine.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2019 Bottled, 355ml, aged 3yrs from The Ship & Bottle, Liverpool. Clouded brown, copper with off white head. There is a smooth, boozy character to this, fruity, plummy in nature. Heavy maltiness with a toast like character, roasty, sweet nuts. Big on the palate. It's a sipper but pretty decent.

Mr.Spooks (4982) - Tennessee, USA - JUL 31, 2018
Vintage 2013. Holds up very well, having grown an intense caramel backbone without turning syrupy or cloy. Molasses, dried fig, tobacco, and dried apple add heft to the middle, while the back end dries out, with a pine-laced bitter fade accented by toffee and a touch of maraschino cherry. Booziness has all but disappeared, leaving a thick, oozing pint of barleywine goodness. Buttered caramel on the nose. Pours red-amber with a brief off-white head and modest lacing. Delicious.
