COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"I really wanted to do something special for our 1000th batch at the original brewpub. Goose Island could have thrown a party. But we did something better. We brewed a beer. A really big batch of stout-so big the malt was coming out of the top of the mash tun. After fermentation we brought in some bourbon barrels to age the stout. One hundred and fifty days later, Bourbon County Stout was born-A liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with a thick foam the color of bourbon barrels. The nose is a mix of charred oak, vanilla,carmel and smoke. One sip has more flavor than your average case of beer. It overpowers anything in the room. People have even said that it’s a great cigar beer, but I haven’t yet tried a cigar that would stand up to it." Brewmaster Greg Hall;

Editor’s Note: Baudoinia Fulton & Wood Series offering (And the Low Storage entry from FoBAB 2012) is simply Bourbon County Stout aged in the same barrels. It has been alted as it offers no different recipe or barrel type simply the presence of a distillers fungus on the barrels that adds no distinct characteristic to the beer from the fungus itself except for possible oxygen exposure changes. While Brewers Intent indicates that they consider it a new beer, no true distinction aside from this oxidation amount and possible aging time differences separates the beers. It’s essentially a single barrel Bourbon County version something we have always treated as regular Bourbon County Stout in the past.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2019 Pours black, fading head. Nose shows liquorice, cocoa, booze, coffee liqueur,, insanely sweet and rich smelling. Flavours include coffee, coconut, chocolate, heavy booze, a bit solvent-like in the finish.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2019 Wersja 2016. Aromat wyraźnie beczkowy, waniliowy, kokosowy. Dalej czekolada, kakao, kawa, melano, paloność, alkohol. Barwa czarna nieprzejrzysta. Prawie bez piany. Smak słodki z czekoladą, melano, karmelem, kawą. Sporo alkoholu. Goryczka słodowo-alkoholowa, nieco zbyt palona i alkoholowa. Pełnia wysoka, wysycenie średnie i wyraźnie alkoholowy finisz z bogatą nutą słodową.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2019 Who on earth thinks this is 100/100? I question your judgement. It's good, but I wouldn't pass up a Dragon's Milk for one, that's for sure. Especially not at twice the price. I've never been a huge fan of Goose Island, and I think that's because of the water (water is 95% of what you brew). And I like the Bourbon Country Stout. But not that much. I think maybe because I'm not a huge fan of either nitrous or pastries, and the 2019 gives you plenty of both. The 2018 is far better than the 2019, unless you really like chocolate-flavored sugar stout. The 2019 has a gritty mouth and a sweeter scent. The 2018 is a bit smoother (and fresher) on the tongue, with more of a whiskey finish. And at these prices, I'll stick with Boulevard (try their BB Stout). Imbibe and enjoy.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2019 W aromacie solidny bourbon, kokos i czekolada. Niesamowicie gęste, oblepiające. Mocno kawowo czekoladowe, ze zdecydowaną beczkową wanilią. Troche sos sojowy ale nie za mocny.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2019 Intense rich sucker punch mouthfeel backing up a strong flavour rounded off with booziness perfection. The sip journey is a myriad of dark fruit and chocolate.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2019 So much history and never disappoints. Caramel, beautiful toffee, oak, yeasty. I wonder if there is an undesirable hint of acidity.
