3.5 Marin Old Dipsea Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine This is a backlog rating from 2011, from notes. I took notes on every beer that I had, but didn't rate most because they were below average to average and my time was better spent with family or work. This one was more well known than many that I missed. Technology, or the lack thereof, also contributed to the backlog. Words to describe this beer are sweet malts, caramel, dark fruit, berry, some tartness, the barrel comes off more like a wine barrel than bourbon, oak. Saturday, July 1, 2023

3.6 Marin San Quentin's Breakout Stout Can found at my local shop, decided to take a shot. Pours opaque black with a tight, 2-finger tan head. Aroma of coffee followed by chocolate. Full body with a touch of oil to it. The finish is long, with a touch of astringency. Roasty flavor up front, mixed with some coffee. This gives way to a chocolate note that lingers at the back. 3.5 Marin San Quentin's Breakout Stout Dåse: Old schoolamerikansk stout. Sort klar øl med et kæmpe skumhoved. Næsten overkarboneret, men den falder hurtigt. Masser af chokolade, men bakket op af en del bitterhumle så sødmen ikke bliver for meget. Me likes. Men ikke for meget. Sunday, September 6, 2020

Deep roasted maltiness in the aroma along with chocolate and some dark fruits and unfortunately sour notes (off-notes). Lively palate. Flavour: Deep roasted malt with chocolate and the sourness is present, some dark fruits and a medium bittterness. Light infection which ruins the great taste it should have had. 3.2 Marin Mt. Tam Pale Ale If you are expecting a typical old school west coast pale ale ala Seirra Nevada, this curve ball should throw you. Starting with a firm malt base with equal parts caramel and huskier grains, then adding a unique super spicy hop profile that is way more East than West, Mt. Tam is a pleasant, mildly carbonated quaff, that keeps its balance while still showcasing the uniquely spicy hop and yeast profile Marin has chosen. It's unlikely to draw many accolades, but would be quite at home in my fridge on the regular. Interesting and unique but without being weird. Thursday, December 26, 2019
