Marin Old Dipsea Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine
This is a backlog rating from 2011, from notes. I took notes on every beer that I had, but didn't rate most because they were below average to average and my time was better spent with family or work. This one was more well known than many that I missed. Technology, or the lack thereof, also contributed to the backlog. Words to describe this beer are sweet malts, caramel, dark fruit, berry, some tartness, the barrel comes off more like a wine barrel than bourbon, oak.

Marin San Quentin's Breakout Stout
Can found at my local shop, decided to take a shot. Pours opaque black with a tight, 2-finger tan head. Aroma of coffee followed by chocolate. Full body with a touch of oil to it. The finish is long, with a touch of astringency. Roasty flavor up front, mixed with some coffee. This gives way to a chocolate note that lingers at the back.

Marin Heimlicher Pils
On tap at Marin, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out biscuity malt and subdued grassy hops. Flavour is lightly grassy and floral in the hop department, with a sort of crisp bready malt backbone. Not very punchy or bright, but it’s clean and drinkable.

Marin Old Dipsea Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine
2018 version aged in Moylan's bourbon barrels, 10.2% abv. Pours a turbid copper brown on tap with thin ring of bubbly tan foam that leaves light lace. Aroma of big bourbon barrel notes over sweet boozy caramel and molasses, a touch of dark fruit behind. Taste is sweet and boozy, mildly bitter, a dark fruit oxidized caramel base. A bit boozy, but not bad.

Marin Titania Imperial Stout
On the menu as the non barrel aged version. Pours an opaque brownish black on tap with nice cap of tan foam that dissipates slowly to leave moderate lace. Aroma of dark fruit over dark chocolate and medium roast, a hint of burnt sugar and molasses. Taste follows, bitter but sweet malt and a touch of booze to back up the roast. Pretty solid stout, but nothing terribly amazing.

Marin Tiburon Blonde
Pours a mostly clear golden yellow on tap with rocky white foam that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of biscuit and cracker malt notes over a slight fruity ale yeast. Taste is sweet with a mild ester profile and light bitterness. It's basic, it's crushable, it's unexciting and just mediocre.

Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow on tap with bubbly white foam that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of huge hits of candied raspberry, likely extract, with a hint of wheat behind. On tap @ The Bistro DIPA/TIPA Festival 2017. Clear golden beer with white foam. This is kind of rough. Get just a very raw, unfinished feel. Wort, popcorn, and bread. Lots of toasted grains, too. Some grass, orange juice, and canned fruit. Also fairly bitter. Just not a fan.

Dåse: Old schoolamerikansk stout. Sort klar øl med et kæmpe skumhoved. Næsten overkarboneret, men den falder hurtigt. Masser af chokolade, men bakket op af en del bitterhumle så sødmen ikke bliver for meget. Me likes. Men ikke for meget.

Botella. The cap flew off with a bang. Black colour with a huge creamish light brown head, good lacing. Deep roasted maltiness in the aroma along with chocolate and some dark fruits and unfortunately sour notes (off-notes). Lively palate. Flavour: Deep roasted malt with chocolate and the sourness is present, some dark fruits and a medium bittterness. Light infection which ruins the great taste it should have had.

Marin Mt. Tam Pale Ale
If you are expecting a typical old school west coast pale ale ala Seirra Nevada, this curve ball should throw you. Starting with a firm malt base with equal parts caramel and huskier grains, then adding a unique super spicy hop profile that is way more East than West, Mt. Tam is a pleasant, mildly carbonated quaff, that keeps its balance while still showcasing the uniquely spicy hop and yeast profile Marin has chosen. It's unlikely to draw many accolades, but would be quite at home in my fridge on the regular. Interesting and unique but without being weird.
