3.7 Gadds Black Pearl Oyster Stout Can from Beer 52 – drank at home. Pours almost black with a small foamy beige head. Aroma has roasted malts and some chocolate. In the mouth it starts off sweet with a creamy texture, but some underlying bitterness. Flavour has chocolate (bitter) and dark fruits (sweet). Some hints of vanilla, herbs and spices come through later. Finish is somewhat dry and a bit sticky – the alcohol comes through at last as well. This is oretty good – hides it’s strength well. 2.5 Gadds She Sells Seashells Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a golden yellow with a small foamy white head and good lacing. The aroma has floral hops and citrus. In the mouth it starts off sweet but with some underlying bitterness, and grains to flavour. But after a while sticky citrus comes through and totally dominates the yucky finish. Not for me.
