And fuck the dink beers brewed in Vancouver!
|
|
These are the most frequently brewed styles, in BC: shit! (to 2, 4 and 5)
|
How is this different from AB/SK/MB ???
|
I didn’t know they brew beer there...
OR has
IPA
APA
Sour
IIPA
Saison
WA has
IPA
APA
IIPA
Spice
Saison
CA has:
IPA
APA
IIPA
Sour
Imperial Stout
Denmark
IPA
Imperial Stout
APA
Spice
Belgian Ale (this is generic, not bad nor good)
Spice and Fruit are mainly gimmick beers for brewers with no imagination (bad base beer and a random ingredient from the spice cabinet or fridge).
Saisons brewed in North America, maybe because of the yeast, are never good, ranging between candy and soap (with very few exceptions).
Unfortunately these numbers show that local breweries focus more on these ones (not to mention the sheer number of fruited gose, fake kolsch, fruited wheat...) than brewers in the best regions do.

On tap at Darbys:
Mango
Passionfruit
Boysenberry
Strawberry
Merri Berri
Blackberry
Blueberry
Raspberry
Blackberry
Cranberry
way to go in order to show skills brewing malt and hops rather then just dumping fruit in a random beer

Yeah, I noticed that Darby’s list is a bit one-dimensional. And considering that the big thing right now is some of these cloudy hoppy things (Space Armadillo, Alpha Dog, etc) it’s a bit strange to focus on fruited sours that aren’t Nectarous). I like the place, but they gotta rotate some of these redundant beers off the taps and keep the selection on point. Maybe a happy hour to tap into all the people who work down there now, help move some product. I’d go.

Happy hour? there was a debate last year, is that even legal in Vancouver?

Few bottles of Raised by Wolves left at BCL on Bute and Alberni, 7$
