Hey gang,

We are planning on adding a rate-with-attributes option to the mobile experience and would like your help. We need help translating attribute labels into 8 languages.

Attributes to be translated: Aroma, Appearance, Taste, Palate, Overall

Languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Swedish, German, French, Italian, Dutch

If you can help with any of these, please let me know, or simply post here!

Much appreciated

Joe

Note: Spanish and Portuguese are targeted at Latin American users.

Appearance: Utseende
Taste: Smak
Palate: Munkänsla (literally mouthfeel, difficult to translate)
Overall: Övergripande

Does "Texture" make more sense?

French:
Aroma: Arôme
Appearance: Apparence
Taste: Goût
Palate: Texture (Texture) or Corps (Body) - this one is tricky
Overall: Appréciation générale, or Général

Not really. Perhaps "Kropp", meaning "Body", makes more sense.

Julien, wouldn’t something like "Finale" be more appropriate for Palate?
Or "Arriere-goût" (sorry, missing accents on my keyboard).

I can do Dutch if you fix the login issue first. :-)

German:

Aroma: Aroma
Appearance: Aussehen
Taste: Geschmack
Palate: "Gaumen" is probably the best choice, although "Mundgefühl" (mouthfeel), "Textur" (texture), "Abgang" (the flavour a beverage has towards the end, while and after swallowing) would probably also work. For me, I mostly interpret palate as a combination of these vocabularies.
Overall: "Gesamteindruck" or just "Gesamt".

I agree that Finale or Arrière-goût are classics on French tasting forms but both still refer to taste and I don’t think they convey what we’re looking for under Palate on ratebeer which would actually be texture of the beer (carbonation and body) (joet to confirm?).

I would also suggest Bouche as a possible translation (literally mouth, but can mean mouthfeel in context). Maybe that’s better?
