These guys really bailed me out. After heading down by train then waiting for an hour for a bus to check out Oud Beersel I get out into the pissing rain only to find the brewery closed! Pop into the flower shop chat with owner who’s like they should be open. He looks outside, oh no signboard... oh wait it’s a national holiday in Belgium. Damn, bad luck. I was going to walk to 3 Fonteinen in the rain hoping the brewery was open but the florist kindly offered me a ride. The brewery was closed but the restaurant had just opened. I was meeting a friend at 2 so I settled in for a long wait. Had the 3 Fonteinen Jonge Lambik which was great, the faro was out but I ordered the Cassonade a la Flammande which I believe has a sauce made with the Oud Lambik. Big portion, great fries, Service was good even as the place got packed. Free wifi kept me busy. Top class, chatted with the owner a bit on my way out and hope to visit again someday.

First stop on recent Belgium trip, stopped by for lunch and had the first of several Moules-frites plates. These were exceptional, cooked in Gueze. The three of us tried various beers and Guezes’. Nice outdoor seating area and very friendly helpful staff. Finished it off with a trip over to the store and ran into one of the brewers who was very willing to talk brewing.

Stopped in here as they were beginning to open up. As we walked in, they said the kitchen wouldn’t be open for another 45 minutes or so, but we could come in and have drinks if we liked. That sounded pretty good to us, so we walked in and took a seat. It was about 30 minutes before anybody came to ask us what we would like to drink. The girl in the shop recommended asking if there was any Framboos left, so I did. This must have been a bad idea, because the woman that appeared to want to take our drink order, said no, and walked away. It was another 20 minutes before another waiter came to ask us if we would like anything. We were allowed to order a couple beers this time, so that was nice, but we weren’t allowed to order food yet, even though people around us already had food. We were the second guests to come through the doors, and probably the 10th to get to order. That sucked, and there really is no excuse for that. The only redeeming factor, is that I was able to try their Jonge lambic, and the krokketten were delicious. That being said, the only reason I would come back here is to have beer in hopes I could do it quicker next time. If this weren’t the only place to try the Faro and the unblended lambics, I wouldn’t come back here at all.

Smart restaurant/café selling all the usual beers from Drie Fontainen but nothing rare, along with common beers from elsewhere. Good but pricey food and reasonable service.

Nice looking place with some outside seating. Bottle list had a nice selection to choose from at reasonable prices. Food was very good too.

Nice not that small restaurant with chimney a little bar section. The ffod is either a basic selection or a few more special things cook with their beer or to match their beers. They have a special beer cellar with some treasures. Personally, I would strongly recommend not being the designated driver of the group, that’s less fun as it turned out ;-).

A nice old fashioned restaurant in Beersel, right around the corner from the brewery. The service is friendly, they have nice traditional food available (partly cooked with beer), and some of their beers as well: Lambic, Faro, Kriekenlambik from the hand pump, and vintage Gueuzes (1997 and 2001 when we were there - we went for the 1997 one for 39 Euros). Some bottle stuff (belgian industry beers) and if you’re lucky, Intense Red or Hommage. Extremely nice prices for the tap beers, and okay prices for the bottle beers. The vintages were priced very fairly. Definitely worth to drive out to Beersel from Brussels, but not only because of this place (there’s more you can do in Beersel) ;;)

Very old fashioned looking place: the sight of the 3 handpumps here in Payottenland makes it all worthwhile. Just visit..

Very big place ( surprise ! ) just next to the brewery and shop . Ran by the brother of Armand . Service is phenomenal, very friendly, everyone made time to chat , even Armand himself stopped by . The lady works here for well over 20 y , which sais enough about the good atmosphere . Food was just too damn good , and huge portions as well . Everything appeared to be really fresh and taken care of . Value was also pretty neat . Beerlist isn’t to big, and in contradicition to what one might expect, not very 3 fonteinen based. Their core-range is made up with commercial beers ( Palm breweries - based ) , with some ’extras ’from the brewery , such as the geuze, kriek, ... Nothing to rare ( millenium or such ) , but the nice thing is the vintages . We took an 97 bottle for only 39 Euro ! The only downside here is the interior ( to me , it reminds me of what my grandma would call old fashionned ) and the music ( also from the late 30’s ???? ) But that’s just me and opinions may vary . Certainly will return , as this is a great bonus feature when you visited the brewery .

Nice restaurant with plenty of seating both inside, and outside in the nice beergarden. We visited before noon the first opening day after the summervacation, so no beer on the 3 handpumps yet. One of the servers very kindly offered to go to the brewery and fill a jar with lambic for me, Thanks! Some bottle avaible aswell. Nice english speaking service who took the time to talk with us about our travel from Denmark, and beery stuff to do in Belgium. Dirt cheap prices (2€ for my lambic) Would like to return some other time and enjoy some food with the beer.
