Confluence Des Moines IPA
Draft on tap at Shortís East Side (Iowa City, IA). Pours a darker amber pour, mellow haziness. Hoppy bitter nose is earthy, floral, bit of citrusy life. Carmelized, touch sweeter, medium bodied. Firmer bitterness, even keeled sweetness. Not one of the more bright, fruity, trendy IPAs. But still pretty fresh, bitter enough, not too sweet. Solid IPA overall.

Confluence South Side Citra Blonde
Draft pour on tap at Quintonís Bar & Deli (Iowa City, IA). Pours a decent hazed amber golden hue, a touch darker with a decent glow overall. Frothy offwhite head atop is full, creamy, sticks around and laces well enough. Aromas show some punchy Citra hops, fruity elements are a bit tropical and citrusy, the bitter floral and earthy resiny appeal hits a bit stronger as we settle. Initial is lighter bodied overall with just a touch of girth into the middle. A decent fruity Citra tangy appeal meets firmer bitter florals, rind oils and resiny appeal. A mellow sweetness, cleaner backend with some soapy and citrus rind bitterness hangs on. Not potent but certainly on par with a more sessionworthy style. I dig the flavors and flow, but itíd be nice to see the ABV just a touch lower.

Golden orange. dark candied sugar, a lot of yeast aroma here with mead-like aromas along with leaves. taste is the same. itís a very substantial cake-like delicacy to this with a mango / apricot note that like those fruits were baked and topped with brown sugar and itís just all culminating really nicely.

750 ml purchased at the brewery! Bottle date of 7/23/2015. Full lasting head with lace on a oil black liquid. Wood like aroma upfront with chocolates and raisin.

The flavor is nice, larger dark fruit backbone with chocolate and slight ash.mTexture mouthfeel is a tad lacking. Itís medium but I am missing the full / chewy/ smoothness. Beefing up the body and texture with put this stout into another tier. Still easy drinking enough.
