Durham Bombay 106
Bottle, courtesy of Lakshmi on Fathers Day. Light gold colour, pale for an English IPA. Lightly bready malts, some spicy hop, yeasty bite, moderate bitterness that builds rather than bludgeons. Booze under wraps, quite dry finish. Not bad effort at a style I like, although for me could have taken a bit more sweet malt and more hop.

500ml bottle. Clear pale golden colour with a one finger white head which lasts forever. Aroma: hoppy, fruity, floral, slightly earthy. Taste: fruit, citrus, light grainy malts, floral, slightly spicy hop finish, light bitterness. Light-medium body, moderate carbonation and a bubbly mouthfeel. Not bad. Label prominently calls this a Bitter but definitely drinks like a Golden.

Durham Imperious
Piana sycząca, szybko opada do firanki. Barwa ciemno brązowa z mahoniowymi refleksami, klarowna. Aromat mało intensywny, trochę czekolady, pralin, wanilii i whisky. W smaku półsłodkie, czekolada, karmel, ciemny cukier, bourbon.

Aroma with a bit of vanilla, not much of malts - mostly whisky and a tiny bit of alcohol. I was surprised by the look of the beer as it’s not as dark as I expected an imp to be. Taste is much better than aroma with quite a bit of whisky notes, tiny bit of chocolate and tannic aftertaste. Shame it’s quite thin and lacks a bit of body. Overall I expected a bit more from that beer.

bottle from Plonk in Canberra Dark cola color. Thin collar of light tan head. falls to no collar at all. Nose is oak, whisky, vanilla extract, licorice, and roasted grain. Taste is a bit thin. Barrel seems to have really taken this over. Not a lot of base beer in this at all. Mostly the same notes as the nose had. Slightly fizzy carbonation. Expected a fuller feel than what I got for the ABV.

Czarne, nieprzejrzyste, piana drobno pęcherzykowa, pozostaje koronka.

Bottle. Dram Shop, Sheffield. Clear, deepest ruby red. Ring of dense, beige head. Nose has toasted malts. Booze steeped vine fruits. Sweet smoke. Sugar drenched coffee. Old school. Taste is rich and smoky sweet. Very vinous. Some liquorice bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Doesn’t feel 11.6% by a long way. A bit too fizzy, which renders the beer a little thin. Smoky sweet finish. Shame about the over carbonation. I’d bet that a couple of years sat in a cellar would improve this greatly. Still very enjoyable, mind you.

Durham White Stout
