COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

At Maakun’s. Black with thin light brown head. Roasted chocolate malts. Coffee chocolate vanilla bourbon (just wrote vinalla, so you know) butterscotch, hazelnut. Very sweet with nice pure cocoa bitter and vnilla smoothness. Full body, smooth heavy oily texture, big bourbon and go’damn a joy to drink.

Bottle shared at home, massive thanks to Santa bytemesis! One year old to the day. Pitch black with short lasting light brown head that leaves some big bubbles. Massive sweet chocolate at first, sweet bourbon with lots of vanilla, oak, and toffee. Starts with loads of sweet desert notes, and underneath there’s coffee, roasted malts, and soft licorice. There’s a slight alcohol burn beneath the sweetness, but it’s balanced well with the sweet and roasted notes. Quite sweet and light bitter. Almost full bodied with soft carbonation. Very strong on the bourbon, but I love the chocolate notes here. Very nice.

BOD 3/5/15. Pours dark as a starless night. World class head volume, lacing and retention. World class nose of bourbon, cocoa, vanilla, a hint of coffee and subtle roast and oak notes over a base of caramel and biscuit. Almost full body with a texture that is creamy and possesses an oily character as well. Superb carbonation with a nice effervescent middle coupled with a very prickly finish. The flavor profile is world class. It is intense, complex and masterfully balanced. Bourbon is the primary flavor but is buttressed by a rich malt base that pops with roast producing a somewhat sweet stout. Coffee, oak and chocolate comprise the supporting cast of this renowned stout. Bitterness is mild in the middle with roast rather evident over a subtle oak character. From the middle on, chocolate notes are ascending to challenge the bourbon. The finish has a bit of heat and subtle astringency that actually add to the complexity of this masterpiece. At the end, a long slow fade of chocolate lingers.

Strong aroma of coffee, a Lot of coffee followed immediately by a big cocoa nibs, a little bit of vanilla, maybe just a suggestion, riminiscence of milkshake, then oak, bourbon Pure black with a beige head, that disappear not so quicley. Yeah, a Lot of coffee in the mouth, just a Lot of coffee. Then cocoa , strong bourbon notes, oak presence, cherry hint, pocket coffee like aftertaste, And finally a hint of vanilla. Not so sweet like i expected, but so dry. A great beer that lacks in sweetness. With a little touche of vanilla this could be the best beer ever in my experiences. Good mouthfeel, silky/oily texiture, medium to big body. Aftertaste is almoust infinite.

Bourbon. Bourbon, bourbon, bourbon. A tad bit too much bourbon, but delicious nonetheless. Huge bourbon, chocolate, licorice aroma. Palate is a boozy plum with burnt chocolate notes. Mouth feel is strong upfront with a cooling alcohol burn that lingers and is quite pleasing. So happy to finally try this beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

What a beer! Despite the hefty amount of alcohol it drinks smooth, dark with gracious amounts of bourbon and coffee and vanilla notes.

355ml bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow:
Fantastic stuff from Founders & well worth the wait, I’m glad I picked up 2 bottles at the time. Full of flavour & quite complex with dark, ripe fruits & an oak sweetness on top of the excellent roasted flavours & dark malts. I enjoyed the warming alcohol touches that gave the beer a nice kick & despite the strength it still proved an easier than expected beer to drink. A beautiful beer & one of the best I think I’ve tried, I’m definitely looking forward to trying this one again now.

Two words Bur Bon. In the aroma in the flavor Kentucky through and through. Malt undertone mellows it out a bit and adds a slight sweet flavor.

An awesome bourbon barreled stout. Pours a beautiful deep black with a tan head. Smells great, vanilla and bourbon and mint. More of this in the taste, lots of vanilla and coffee and mint, with bourbon in the finish. Had on tap at 0L bottleshop.

From bottle, thanks a lot Orla!!! Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of vanilla, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, light licorice, bourbon, dark fruits, this baby has got it all! Taste is an explosion of goodness, vanilla, bourbon, woody finish, light chocolate, roasted malts, so f*cking well balanced!
