Marko	3.1 Kommunalbrauhaus Neuhaus Lingl Zoigl Tap at Lingl, yay (11.11.2023). Full golden body, white head - pretty lasting. Buttery aroma, sweetish maltines... sigh... I was warned about this by Ryan who's had it the day before. The taste, however, is a step up - the diacetyl is more mild, the clean maltiness shows, some minerally touches, vague herbal notes, but almost no bitterness. I mean, I could finish it, but reading some other reviews, I'm just disappointed a little. Shows potential - the body's quite good, shame it didn't rest as much as it should have... Marko	3.8 Kommunalbrauhaus Neuhaus Schoilmichl Zoigl Tap at Zum Waldhauser / Waldhauser Zoigl - roughly 5 times (hey, Ryan had something like 10 :D) and then one more at Zum Waldnaabtal. Hazy golden body, off-white head. Herbal hoppiness on top of pillowy maltiness in the aroma, floral touches. Soft floral taste, belying a persistent carbonation, ending, through a soft maltiness, in a bitter, growing finish. Wow! Dry zesty notes, yeasty, citrussy, sourdough, grain, bread, lemongrass, hay, freshly mowed grass. Mild dry sourness, grainy sweetness, some bitterness. Dry bitterness. Full bodied, oily, lively carbonated, dry clovy spicy finish. Very unique Weißbier, loads of clove and spices, yet rather dry and quaffable. Monday, April 18, 2022

Sweet malt flavor, honey, orange and lemon. Rather simple and low on the hops. Smooth, oily body. Fresh and malt with light orange and peppery hops in the finish. Memorably simple. Grainy, just enough hopped, mellow, sweetish and reeking of authenticity. It was a mix of fortune and generosity to be allowed in to understand the principles behind this communal tradition - "just a little bit Communist but also with some enterprise". Im Geschmack mineralisch, erdig, malzig, rauchig. Kaum Kohlensäure, Körper wässrig, Alkohol praktisch nicht spürbar. Erfrischend. Genau das richtige nach einer anstrengenden Wanderung in der Hitze, anonsten aber keine Offenbarung. Hatte ich mir ehrlich gesagt mehr erwartet. 0.5l für 1,90€ (Preis hat sich erhöht :) ist dennoch unschlagbar, gerade noch mit dem günstigen und sehr guten Essen dazu. Schöne Gaststube & Garten! TAR	4 Kommunalbrauhaus Neuhaus Schafferhof Zoigl Draft @ Zoiglstube Schafferhof: Minimal haze to the bright shade of orange. Lathery froth is everlasting. Expressive aroma of zesty hops, minerals, sulfur, pepper, orange marmalade, floral Hallertau, and a musty, rustic yeast character. Firm in body with soft and creamy carbonation. Opens with sharp minerals and a bright lemony hop elegance underscored by the succulent weight of gently sweet nectar. Nearly "green" hoppiness is both oily and zesty and contrasts wonderfully with the exquisite malt softness and rich, cookielike melanoidins. Snappy toast synergizes with bracing minerals which further emphasizes the impeccably clean, bone-dry attenuation. Stacks of rich orange marmalade bolster the lean frame. A well measured kiss of sulfury yeast adds farmy character throughout. Expertly extracted pils malt deposits hay dust across the tongue as scratchy toast adds depth and texture. Stiff clench of deeply woody and herbal bitterness is amplified by relentless mineral action. Herbaceous and lemon rindy finish is countered by crisp toast and a rustic bite of lager yeast. So glad to find this in such fine condition after the past visit when it was acidic and plagued with DMS. This batch is pleasingly clean and vibrant, yet fully malty and rustic/sulfury. I ended up taking my mug back to the hotel, and the few ounces in my glass smelled pure the following morning, which is the true mark of a well-constructed beer. A session-worthy Zoigl when it’s on. TAR	2.5 Kommunalbrauhaus Neuhaus Käckn Zoigl Draft at Käck´n: Pale orange with some haziness. Puffy, creamy foam. Dull and dirty nose of waxy candy (candy corn), plastic, floral Hallertau, and hints of orange, apple, and butterscotch. Prickly carbonation. Seems quite young and underdeveloped, with sulfury yeast astringency and gummy candy sweetness pervading the flavor. Strong wax candy continues in the center alongside loads of soured fruit and apple juice. Malt gets lost in the excessive sweetness, and there is nary a hint of vividness to the grain. Zero trace of hop refinement or brightness, either. Leafy bitterness comprises the limp, papery finish. While I don’t recall this being so poor at 2009 Zoiglfest, I do know that it wasn’t quite this muddled, acidic, and underattenuated. Very difficult to enjoy this. Okt. - The most indistinctly drinkable of all drinkable Neugaus Zoigls, neither sweet-lieblich and bready like Schoilmichl, nor remarkably wild like Bahler: good, flowery hop bitterness in a deep yellow body, young chthonic malt base with some proteins in suspension. Body quite watery, with bitter hints of metallic lemon rind, white bread, earth and nettle. Oddly, still drinkable, but all over the place. At this point I did begin to get a lambiek territory feel from Zoiglland: anything can happen when both terroir, fermentation and coolship are given free reign... Earlier Rating: 10/5/2015 Total Score: 3.4 New 2015 Zoiglwirt serving at his own courtyard across Bahler’s, Tag der Kommunbrauer 10/2015. - Betrays some of its Bahler provenance in the phenolic-rubbery "Islay" nose, but then goes off onto a more pleasing honeygolden and herbal-bitter flavour profile, with a distinct soapy finish. One of the more easygoing Neuhauser Zoigls, honeysmooth with a good helping of hayish malts, perfectly round in mouthfeel with the helping of some residual yeastiness (diacetyl). Hops notes of prickly nettle. Still very enjoyable, if a bit darker and less bitter or breadcrust-roasty than its neighbours. Although setting adds to a very rich experience... Amazingly "wild" nose, bretty pollen, daffodil and dandelion flowers on a summery meadow - near-saison like (Saison de Cazeau) - fascinating. At the same time some rubbery smoked notes, near-medicinal like an Islay whiskey - must be that coolship? Lots of confidently bitter milk thistle notes (Saison Dupont), hints of smoked rubber on thick, honey-drizzled pilsner malts. - 2nd batch, post onstorm 04/10/2015 had much less of this wild profile and shows how much batches can differ even at the same Zoiglwirt. Common theme: bitter noble hops (melissa, nettle, thistle milk, dandelion) meet dry vegetable oil, honeylike palate. Im weiteren Verlauf bittert es unerwartet stark nach mit nicht allzu kräftigem aber aromatischem Hopfen: Orangenschale, Gras, etwas Pfeffer. Schwach rezent, schlank und leicht mineralisch, dadurch enorm süffig: man könnte stundenlang weitertrinken.
