Passed by this restaurant by coincidence once many, many years ago before I became obsessed with beer, and vowed to return one day to eat here. So I finally made it there last Wednesday - though it is now located in another street than I remember - and took the 32 € beer menu, which included a paté made with Rochefort, tournedos with a shallot sauce prepared with Lupulus and a passion fruit mousse with Bons Voeux, all of which were fine, though the French fries served with the tournedos were partially still half raw inside, and partially completely dried out so this could have done much better especially in the capital of a country were fries are regarded as an side dish to a vast array of meat, fish or poultry preparations. Service was friendly, quick and efficient and the atmosphere (I sat outside) was one to cherish. The beers available were a range of Belgian classics and even included two I never tasted before, but clearly the aged owner has no interest for or knowledge of the international craft beer scene so this place is definitely not a ticker’s paradise. Still, this being one of the oldest, most classic and still very few true beer restaurants in Belgium and the food being decent, I recommend visiting this at least once. Interior is very classically Belgian too, woody and ’heavy’ like a brown tavern, but utterly cosy and adorned with all kinds of references to Brussels or Belgian culture. In all, a very old school place, but fitting in well in the Marolles neighborhood and by all standards a lovely environment, with decent food and decent beer served properly, what more can one want to end a day in Brussels...
Called here for dinner three times during a three night stay in Brussels! Great, traditional, hearty food. Good beer selection. (Look in the three fridges yourself, rather than perusing the beer list. You’ll not miss anything, then). Prompt, friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Quirky surroundings. Busy place, so reserving a table is a must, really.
Visited this place for lunch on Saturday and it was very busy. Fortunately someone had just left so I got their table. Only four taps with one changing. Plenty of bottles. It’s not the place to go for ticks, but to get beer with your food and in your food, this is the place to be. Had their seasonal salad and rabbit in gueuze and both were just too damn delicious. Decent pricing too. Very friendly service from most of the staff, though the head (?) waitress was rather stand-offish and seemed like she wanted to die, but granted they were super busy.

We booked a table - I guess you need to during the weekend because it was pretty full.
Food is very very nice. No Michelin stars here but just very nice food mostly with beer as an ingredient.
The beer list is big. A few taps but a lot of good brews on bottle. Mostly only Belgian stuff, but Gueuze goes with a lot of dishes:-)
Would love to re-visit.
