74 /100 506 E MAIN STREET Dumpy little place behind a very cool record shop in downtown Arlington.
Front yard with a beat up stage & picnic tables. Inside are metal stools a center bar & lots of brewing equipment (plus a few aging barrels). Mix of 80s & 90s alt & artpop, like early Beck, B-52s, Duran Duran. Only one tv & it had disc golf tuned, so it was harmless. Bathrooms were surprisingly sizeable & clean.
Easy to read & colorful chalkboard tap list with twenty options plus some wines. 5oz, half, 12oz & pint pours. Most things are around $6. Sours aren't very sour, IPAs aren't very bitter, but they regularly have clean & inviting brews. $2 off sours on sour Saturdays.
Very good bbq there several days a week, but no house food. The smaller taco place next to the record shop,Los Molcas, is very legit & a better options than big box Fuzzy's. Support local.
Came early on a Friday & while quiet it was half regulars.
Besides the bartender constantly forgetting my name, this is a solid place. |
92 /100 Kool Keg (Bar) 207 S EAST STREET A great place to stop in after a Tuesday night of pitching horseshoes just a couple blocks east of there. Nice rich woodwork gives it a warm feel. Servers are all knowledgeable and helpful on all the different lines of brew selection. Yes, a large selection of hard to find brews and specialties. Example Prairie Noir imperial stout aged in oak whiskey barrels. Kool Keg also supports the local craft breweries. Some brews are a little pricey but sometimes customers will spring for it and share samples. Larger the quantity the cheaper the price. They will fill your growlers and also have a 32 oz canning tool so you can take your favorite draft home. The only two problems I can see is parking and the place can fill up quickly once the word gets out as it becomes more popular. |
90 /100 506 E MAIN STREET Stopped by while in town for a football game. Luckily they had a lit-up "open" sign leaning up against the nondescript metal exterior or it would have been tough to find. Don’t let the bland, industrial outside fool you, though. Inside is a smallish but comfortable tasting area with a HUGE selection of their own beers. They had nearly TWENTY of theirs on tap when I was there. Bartender was very generous with samples when I let him know I was from out of town and wanted to try as many as I could. Even let me sample a few straight from the tank (Cosmic Wah is INCREDIBLE). Not only worth stopping by if you’re in the area, this is a place worth going out of your way for. I’ll definitely be making it a point to stop by again the next time I’m anywhere near DFW. |
84 /100 BFF Asian Grill & Sports Bar (Restaurant) 2150 E. LAMAR BLVD. STE 100 This place has a ton of beers but I just got the vibe that craft beer was a distant third behind the food and the fact that it’s a sports bar. Took 10 minutes just to get the water and the place was at half capacity during a Cowboys game. If I were to go back I’d probably try the bar area for better service. |
78 /100 500 E. DIVISION STREET Nice brewery close to the stadiums. Plenty of parking here. This place is surrounded by car dealerships and apparently was also a car dealership in a previous life. Now the place looks like a solid brewery with lots of woods and tin walls. Good atmosphere here. Just a few light snacks available here so bring food. Root beer is also available. |
96 /100 Kool Keg (Bar) 207 S EAST STREET Great place with a amazing and knowledgeable staff. they really know and love craft beer. Bottle share friendly. this is definitely a go to place for me. |
76 /100 Whole Foods Market - Arlington (TX) (Grocery Store) 801 E LAMAR BLVD I left the wife at the hotel and stopped out here to get a good selection of beers for the next few days. They had a fridge of single 12 bottles I liked. I got the guy who stocks the beer to label a couple 12 oz bottles from any six pack for single sale. Great! Got some bombers too. Great selection. |
80 /100 Total Wine & More - Arlington (Beer Store) 981 INTERSTATE 20 W Close to my house with better prices and better selection than anything else I’ve found close to me. As a new Texan, I particularly like that just about everything is available as singles/mix 6’ers and they’ve never said no to anything I’ve asked to get as a single. Perfect way for me to try the new stuff without committing to 6 of them. Nice "special releases" section as well. Not a half bad selection of cigars as well which is nice. |
70 /100 Whole Foods Market - Arlington (TX) (Grocery Store) 801 E LAMAR BLVD Yep, it is a WFM. The store is what I would consider medium sized for them with a large beer selection of mostly local and regional selections at reasonable prices. The singles are mostly bomber sized bottles. |
92 /100 Old School Pizza & Suds (Restaurant) 603 W ABRAM STREET Hole in the wall joint. Down the street from UTA so expect a college crowd if you go at night. About 15 taps, but they use the 15 they have to keep good beer on tap. I’ve been to places with 3 times as many taps with a worse selection. They frequently rotate taps and keep up to date seasonals pouring. Really good pizza, I just wish they’d add more variety to their menu, it’s pretty much just pizza. Oh yeah, they usually run dirt cheap specials on certain taps their trying to finish. |
68 /100 Whole Foods Market - Arlington (TX) (Grocery Store) 801 E LAMAR BLVD A decent place to pick up a six pack of something good while buying your groceries. Nothing particularly rare, but some pretty good stuff. Occasional tastings on weekends. Not great prices, but not outrageous. |
72 /100 Old School Pizza & Suds (Restaurant) 603 W ABRAM STREET New restaurant that opened up in a location that has held no less than 3 previous businesses. Old house that was converted to a business. We walk in and the front bar area was covered with backwards hat fratties who gave us a look like "who are you?" We quickly noticed that their 75¢ beer special included Rahr and we got super excited. Great beer special, and the pizza was pretty tasty too. The waitress was super cute but I’m pretty sure she was still in college and lived at home. Rockin. |
64 /100 Whole Foods Market - Arlington (TX) (Grocery Store) 801 E LAMAR BLVD Typical Whole Foods, with typically high prices (but only a buck or two more than other area beer stores). A few interesting tidbits, but generally a narrower selection than Whole Foods in other states. Not worth an extra trip. |
86 /100 Whole Foods Market - Arlington (TX) (Grocery Store) 801 E LAMAR BLVD Just like the other reviews have already said the big thing worth noting here is the variety of good craft beers. another item worth talking about; right next to where the beer is, they have a large selection of quality cheeses. They have different types of pretty much any cheese you can think of, and are willing to sample any of them to you with a smile, so whatever you’re drinking your sure to find a good cheese to pair |
70 /100 Whole Foods Market - Arlington (TX) (Grocery Store) 801 E LAMAR BLVD The main thing is the selection of beers. This is a food market and they have a pretty good selection of beers that I have discovered. |
80 /100 BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse - Arlington (Restaurant) 201 INTERSTATE 20 E I love to go to BJ’s. The Harvest Hefewiesen is the best (highest) I’ve rated so far. I’ve also tried the sampler, just not a fan of the heavy beers porters/stouts; but thats just me. the blonde and Jarimia red are good beers too. I just wish the prices were more reasonable. |
72 /100 Whole Foods Market - Arlington (TX) (Grocery Store) 801 E LAMAR BLVD Good little place to pick up some out of the way beers. Has an organic smell to it that always gets me every time I walk in. Never shopped their for food but it’s all your healthy choices. Beer cooler is in the back. One for sixers and another for singles. The six pack cooler usually has things in it that are uncommon for the area. The single cooler has lots of bombers and above, and high quality choices at that. The girl that heads it up always talks to me when I buzz in for something, and she knows what she’s talking about too. Prices are decent, maybe a dollar more than standard, but for the choices it is worth it. |
68 /100 BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse - Arlington (Restaurant) 201 INTERSTATE 20 E Not a bad brewpub, for what it is. Pretty nice place with bar and restaurant seating. Usually have 8 or 9 of their own brews on tap, not sure about any further selections. Pizzas and burgers are their best bets, with specials on mini pizzas on sunday nights. If not on special, their prices can be a little high. Lots of big screens in the bar area. |
74 /100 Whole Foods Market - Arlington (TX) (Grocery Store) 801 E LAMAR BLVD Friendly staff that broke 4-packs for me. Very helpful staff. They had a pretty decent selection. |
78 /100 Whole Foods Market - Arlington (TX) (Grocery Store) 801 E LAMAR BLVD I dont know about ambiance or whatever, but I do know about beer selection. If you are looking for a decent selection of beers that dont end in Light in Texas, then I applaud you. And if you are doing this in Arlington - Whole Foods is the place. A few Belgians, lots of bombers, and a good selection of high-end US micros. Cheers. |
64 /100 BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse - Arlington (Restaurant) 201 INTERSTATE 20 E I grabbed a motel room a short distance away soze I could walk there and stumble back later. Decent food served in a wood-laden Rock Bottom atmosphere. The servers seemed to know their beers, but were serving Duvahls rather than Duv’ls. Their own brews were respectable. Not a bad joint for eats and beers with plenty of decent guests on tap and in bottles. |
72 /100 BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse - Arlington (Restaurant) 201 INTERSTATE 20 E 17 taps including 10 of their own (counting a cider and root beer). Other taps included Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, Saint Arnold Christmas, Chimay Tripple, and Lindemans Framboise. Had a bottle list of 12 Belgians including Chimay, Duvel, Oval, Maredsous, Saison Dupont, Scaldis. Large open dining area, nice long bar. I didn’t eat, but I’ve heard the food is great. It wasn’t too crowed at 5:00 PM on a Tuesday. |
