“Visited here May 24th 2022. It was a nice day as I recall, we'd just been around the market and then got here and plonked ourselves right at the front and people watched. It was a warm'ish' day, btw I really don't know why I didn't review this at the time, I suspect it was because we were en route or returning from the UK and I was just too busy. I went inside and watched them pouring the beers. It's a great place, plenty of history and easy to find.“

“Visited here May 24th 2022 after Uerige. It was a pleasantly warm day and we sat outside, btw I really don't know why I didn't review this at the time, I suspect it was because we were en route or returning from the UK and I was just too busy. However we enjoyed it here, it seems as though this street would be party central at night.“

“The closest brewpub to the station but their opening time is later than most. Two alts typically on tap: 0.2L pours for €2.90, more expensive than most places (which are usually €2.30). Service is fine, fairly attentive. Typical German brewpub feel. Definitely some of the better quality beers in town. Must stop.“

“Pretty much the only craft beer bar in town, located very close to some of the alt places. A nice change of pace. They had 12 taps of quite varied European variety (Norwegian, English, Swedih, German). Flights of 5 x 0.1L pours available, priced per beer. Service is very friendly, seemingly sold on geeky styles. Once you’ve exhausted the alts, come here for some more interesting beers.“

“Right in the old town, different feel to the other traditional brewpubs. This one is self-serve and cash only, with modern music playing. Only the 1 (alt) beer on tap. Come get it (€3.60 for 0.25L, more than the other places), then hit up the very nearby Holy Craft Beer Bar once you’re done with the alts. Friendly woman at the bar. Above-average alt experience.“

“2 taps (!) instead of 1 like most brewpubs here. Traditional German beer garden. Find a seat and they’ll bring you an alt bier. Ask if they have anything else on — they had their pils on when I visited, which was decent. €3.50 for 0.25L pours of the alt, which is high quality, probably only second to the Schlüssel in town. Service was the friendliest here, telling me about the beers, and being quite hospitable. Must-visit in Dusseldorf.“

“An easy 15-20 minute walk from the centre, this feels like a tired old German brewpub. It was empty at 4pm on a Monday, no music was playing, and it was just lifeless in there. I grabbed their altbier (€2.20 for. 0.25L) and left. Service is the usual in town — indifferent but fast. Not a top spot by any means.“

“I preferred this place slightly to Uerige: the beer was a touch better and the environment felt more like a traditional German beer garden than the dingy Uerige pub. Just find a place to sit and they’ll bring out a beer for you. €2.85 for a 0.25L glass. Hard to rate a place with one beer on tap, but for what it is, it’s a must-visit in Dusseldorf.“

“It’s hard to rate brewpubs that have one beer. Classic brewpub with a single beer on tap, maybe sometimes two? Seemingly grumpy but astute service. I wasn’t greeted when I walked in and was ignored until I asked for a beer: €2.85 for a 0.25L glass here. I mean, you gotta visit when in Dusseldorf but it’s hard to rave about it.“

“Der neue Taproom direkt in der Brauerei-Halle. Seit Februar geöffnet. Es gibt nicht nur das leckere Alt, sondern auch 5 neue eigene Biere! Top Qualität. Dazu leckere Flammkuchen. Sehr nettes Personal das Spass an Bier hat! Noch ein Geheimtip, unbedingt vorbei gehen!“

“First stop on an evenings pub crawl around the Altstadt, this one in the northern part was naturally busy on a hot summer Saturday evening with plenty of people outside and many enjoying food in the dimly lit pseudo medieval style interior. I found a space on one of the two small tables opposite the bar for simple drinking purposes, which proved to be a great place to watch the servers and waiters in action. Had a couple of beer choices.“

“A few doors closer to the river than the Brauerei In Füchschen, with a similar set-up and serves the same beers, so you may want to combine any pub crawl with trying a different beer from the brewery in each venue rather than all in one.“

“In the midst of all the Altstadt beer action, although its appearance seems a little disingenuous compared to what you might expect from a classic German beer hall setting. However, it's a workable setting an you can enjoy a Schumacher brew in here.“

“On the main road running parallel to the main avenue that has the trams running down the middle. This is the modern part of the city pub outlet for Schumacher. The front area has drinking tables with the side and rear mostly for those wanting food. There is a garden, which had already closed as I got to this place quite late on. In a modern building but still looks traditional.“

“Centrally located in the Altstadt, packed outside in the summer evening, but less so inside with a large beer hall area at the rear beyond the bar area. There's nothing too historic about the place but it does have the required look of a Brauerei bar. Food is served in the aforementioned back room and you can sample their own brews here“

“Busy thin but deep bar with very little natural light and an impressive amount of football scarves on its ceiling from most of Europe's elite and well-known clubs... And Billericay Town! They show sport here and serve Guinness as well as a couple of German beers on tap.“

“In the northern section of the old town facing into a tiny square type area where it puts its own seats onto in good weather, this is a split level craft beer bar with the usual table service provided. 12 crafted efforts, 10 from Germany and 2 from my hometown Vocation Brewery, needless to say I went Deutsch with my choices. Three fridges of cans and bottles compliment proceedings. Modern designed bench and stool seating.“

“Visited on Friday evening and it was obviously totally packed. They have a massive terrace but another one across the street with an outside bar. Managed to find a place outside, shame that I didn't manage to get inside because the interior looked absolutely gorgeous. Tried latter but no luck either. More than a few people claimed that they have the best Alt but must have been an off day, De Konninck like with metallic note and bitter leaves. Good still for sure but expected a bit better. Shame that I didn't get to fully experience the interior.“

“Visited on Friday evening so place was totally packed as was the whole center full of bars that looked like great places to make terrible drunk decissions. We managed to luckily get a place in the stading section so major luck given the crowds. Comming from the street outside it felt like you went back in time, white and blue decoration, bathroom tiles, all old-fashioned. Best Alt that I tried during my visit, more creamy and rich, seemed to be served actually from a wooden keg. Service as expected.“

“Modern craft beer bar with some nice Alt super fast, continuous checking service. Definitely a different crowd, and we managed to get a place inside on a Friday evening, total win. Selection is definitely massively different from elsewhere in town from bigger modern craft like Funky Fluid, Lervig to La Trappe to some German craft like Maisel and Freigheist but also La Trappe as well as one Alt (my favorite Schlüssel). They do flights. Prices were all over the place, modern craft was expensive as expected going towards 8 euros per glass but I also got a Speedway Double Fudge for 9.50 euro. Definitely solid place, felt bit smaller than it was, nice change of pace and good service.“

“Calm residential part of town across the river. Located in an old railway station, red walls, wood interior, copper brewing vessels. Looks amazing, service was good as expected. Their Alt is called Goulasch for some reason, bit too much carbonation but overall surprisingly good and one of the better ones, pleasant surprise. They had a vegan schnitzel which was basic but exactly what you would expect. Far away to have actual seating, people but bit of peace, unexpectedly positively surprised. Good stuff.“

“Located slam dunk in a residential area, wouldn't even have guessed that there was a brewery there before I stood in front of it. Very much a family and kids dinner feel with lots of odd paraphernalia and a winter garden part that looked like a botanical garden. They have an Alt, Dunked, Helles and a craft beer which is a pale ale it seems. Okay service. They also do 400 ml. pours of the non-craft beer beers which are far better deal than small ones. Tried the Alt and Dunked, both had minor wet dog and moldy wet great smell and after-taste respectively not too much to be totally rubbish but enough to bother me. They also sell loads of wine. Least favorite of the Alt tried. Shame the beer wasn't a tad better.“

“Located outside of the historical center. Saturday evening and the local football team was playing, everything was impossibly packed at least here we found standing places outdoors. Beer was quite solid and upper tier. Serves was to tradition, got a bit tired of everything being round up and made the mistake to ask change back and pissed off the guy quite a bit. Interior looked nice, we were bitten too tired of the impossible crowds.“

“Another one where the interior is gorgeous, service is as you would expect, we finally found space early on Sunday. Standing place had a sitting option, very thing piece of wood which is the least comfortable seating I have ever experienced. Alt was quality, Weihnachtsbier was super rich, dark fruits, thicker and best alt of the trip and totally worth it. There was also a pils but didn't try it. A curry was available as a vegan option, didn't try, long list of strong drinks etc. All around great stuff. Peak Alt place.“

“Located in the center and impossibly full during peak times. Finally, managed to visit early on Sunday as the only customers. Surprisingly small actually, new clearly but meant to feel a bit classical. Tap selection is in line, there is Alt in regular pour but also 500 ml. but they also have a Helles and even a pale ale and IPA plus a guest tap so something far more modern. Service was okay, focus was definitely getting the place ready to get going. Beer was okay but definitely not peak. Decent, something different but not overly exciting but nice all the same.“

“Another one that was impossible to get into during peak hours, visited on Sunday, went open far latter than expected. Impressively efficient service given how one woman was doing everything with loads of people. Far more of a dive bar look more than anything else, only partially intentional, saw a hole in the wall. Beer seemed to be straight from the tank, had some Alt, wider and shorter glasses than usual, vaguely sour fruit taste which wasn't optimal, which brings me to the main problem with this place which smelled unpleasantly of rotten fruit, sour beer. The Cheapest Alt we had.“

“Old bar in Aldstadt. Some small tables by the bar for drinks only and other sections of larger tables. Dimly lit. They have alt and pils on draft (no one had ordered the pils). A fairly extensive food menu of all German specialties (I didn’t try any food). Another solid stop in Düsseldorf.“

“Old bar in the Aldstadt. Plenty of indoor seating in a variety of different smaller rooms. We sat in a room with a large ceiling with sort of a skylight. They only serve the alt bier on draft of course. They seem to have some bottles available. Nice place for a beer.“

“A place that is located more in residential area, so away from the center and the main places. 4 taps and flight was possible. Either alt wasn't in good condition or is just not very good.. the other 3 were fine. It was surprisingly busy, so service wasn't the fastest, but still ok. Prices were on the cheaper end. if you have time, it is not a bad beer destination, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit it.“

“Big place in the traditional German style with a beer garden in the back. A bit off the beaten track compared to Schlüssel and Eurige, but the most charming of the three and, in my opinion, the best Altbier. Didn’t try the food, but the offerings were limited compared to those at Schlüssel. Great stop. Definitely something to experience.“

“On a street in the Altstadt that I can only describe as party central on a warm, June night—so full of people we could barely get through the heaving masses. This place was buzzing too, though the staff had no trouble keeping everyone satisfied with the requisite Altbier. They bring trays of the traditional little glasses before you‘ve even ordered—there are benefits to having a limited tap list I guess. Good beer, and the best food of the Altbier breweries we visited. Atmospheric in the traditional style, but not as charming as Schumacher.“

“Huge place near the river. On a warm, summer night people were spilling out into the street, but places were still to be found inside near a window, among one of the warren of little rooms. Similar atmosphere to the other Altbier breweries we tried, perhaps a little more eclectic and less classical. One beer on the tap, their classic Alt. Would love to see this expanded, perhaps by keeping the seasonals on tap on a regular basis, but it is what it is, a Düsseldorf institution and not to be missed, although I preferred the beer at Schumacher and the food at Zum Schlüssel.“
