“(Visited May 2023) Spacious beer bar close to Hackney Wick overground station. Just leave the station and turn left under the railway, then the bar is just 100 m straight ahead. Pink elephant above the entrance. (Google gave a longer and more complex route). Modern, slightly industrial, interior (bricks, wood, metal). Swift and friendly service. Two handpumps and 20 keg taps, with beers from British and foreign craft brewers. Good mixture of styles and nationalities. Large bottle selection, some really interesting stuff. Visited on an early Friday afternoon, was quite slow. Definitely worth the detour.“

“Visited around midday Saturday 25th March 2023 - located next to the howling hops tank room this was a new brewery for me so made a visit. Guy was running late for the midday open but was apologetic and happy to serve a flight of their beers for me. Ok size kind of rough round the edges looking decor but plenty of seating inside and out. Beers prices were decent with plenty of sized pours offered including the flight of 5 beers for a tenner. Not bad and easy to work into a crawl around other nearby places.“

“Visited early afternoon of Saturday 25th March 2023 - very nice looking building and bar with spacious outdoor and indoor seating. Bar with plenty of keg and cask offerings with a good mix of quality brews from London, around the UK and some EU/US numbers of which I got 3 x 3 thirds on my visit. Staff friendly and knowledgeable, good selection, highly recommend a visit.“

“An awesome modem looking, slightly rustic bar that is the best in the area for sure. They have 20 keg beers and two on cask, all from quality breweries. Friendly and helpful staff. An awesome burger van outside. Just 50m from Hackney Wick station. When you come out of the main exit, turn left and it’s 50m in front of you. Google, on the other hand, tells you to turn right and walk for 2/10 of a mile!“

“I’ve no idea what this building used to be, but it’s converted rather well into a cool, large, open plan, rustic, old skool taproom with a long bench, Oktoberfest like feel. Apart from a lick of paint, I don’t thin they have done so much since they moved in here. They have 10 tanks. Didn’t see any cans or bottles. Not the best service. The staff all looked like they would rather be somewhere else. I will return though. There are many quality bars close by.“

“Visited August 2022 with beery friends. A new ( for us ) place in the area. Good addition to the other places in Hackney Wick if in the area. Good range of their own beers on tap / cans. Friendly service. Plenty of seating inside as outside. “

“An OK brewery taproom. Decent range on tap, I think around 10 or so. Beer quality is about average. Average prices, too. Friendly enough service. The venue has kind of a roadhouse aesthetic. I wouldn't say this place is a destination in and of itself. But if you are visiting the other nearby beer spots (Howling Hops, Beer Merchants Tap) and have a little spare time, it's worth popping your head in here.“

“An excellent beer destination. About 20 beers on tap, mostly keg with at most a couple on cask. Huge selection in bottle and can. Prices are all over the place, there are some great deals and fair prices alongside very expensive stuff (some overpriced). Service is friendly but at busy times they aren't always efficient. In terms of ambiance, this is certainly one of the more attractive beer places in London. It's a nicely renovated industrial kind of place, also has a nice outdoor area. Definitely worth making the effort to come visit Hackney Wick just to visit here, but there are a few nice brewery taprooms in the area as well.“

“It may well have been because the venue was hosting Collabageddon 2019 but this place was rammed. At first it looked like we would be stood in a corner before spotting that there was an ante room with bench tables and we had a few hours before the reservation was due. When you factor in the ante room it's a pretty big venue with a long bar. Presumably ~20 rotating kegs and a couple of casks. Seem to be two permanent Paulaner beers on with their own old school taps - I wonder why? A load of bottles in the multiple fridges. The porkie was fine. The main room is done up quite nicely but it was a bit overcrowded where we were sat with the tables being rather close to each other. The service was standard. Had to shout to make myself understood. I can see why this place is a draw with such an array of beers but for me it's out of the way so not sure when I'd be back unless it was for a similar special event.“

“Snuck in and out of here fro Collabageddon 2019. Didin't really see the surrounding neighborhood, but inside was a dimly lit, wide open space. I only had the collabageddon lineup so can't really speak for the tap list. Seems like the go to place for this neck of the woods. will need to revisit on a subsequent trip to LOndon.“

“So it's a bit out in the middle of nowhere (Hackney industrial) but this is one of London's top beer venues, and the train station is only 5 mins away. Run by the people behind Cave Direct and the excellent Beermerchants webshop this is a large venue with a great tap list and bottle fridges. Has a large outdoor seated area and a couple of big spacious areas inside. Decor is industrial chic, very much in keeping with the craft beer scene.“

“We went here after the match between West Ham United and Arsenal, so the place is fairly close to London Stadium, and handy for a few beers after the match. To get inside I had to remove my West Ham scarf and cap - fair enough. Very crowed inside but we got our beers poured directly from the tanks. Really tasty, great beers made here! A rather large warehouse place with floors of stone, wooden benches and chairs, charming worn down, indeed. Ten tanks with Howling Hops brews. Their beers are served in different sizes for good prices. Hard working, still smiling staff. Seating outside. Next to the Crate taproom and brewery. (Visited with Per, Leif and Magne 12.01.2019).“

“A tap room and a brewery located in a brick building by the banks of the River Lee and quite close to West Ham United's home ground. A rather large room in different sections with high ceiling. Five of their own beers on tap at our stay in addition to some guest beers and a decent bottled range. Outdoor seating by the river. Pizza options. Polite service. Loud piano music. Guess we be back in January before and after the match between WHU and Arsenal. (Visited with Finn 28.09.2018).“

“A large and airy room with rough interiors and minimalist decor. And a quite large patio at the entrance. Its located close to the Hackney Wick overground station and not so far from Hammers new stadium. Great selection of beers; about five fridges filled with bottles and cans and a line-up of 22 craft ales on keg. Tiny Rebel beers on the two hand pumps. Service was friendly and informative. Grunge music at our stay. Opens early. (Visited with Finn 28.09.2018).“

“The taproom is next to the beer tanks, where they tap the beers. You can sit inside and outside with an improvised but relaxing charm. If you are already visiting the crate brewery you should definitely not miss this place.“

“This bar has quite a wide selection of bottles and cans, but the tap and selection was a bit reduced due to several Oktoberfest beers. They offer different tshirts and hoodies as well as glasses of different breweries. Sadly, the merchandise and the beer prices were pretty expensive.“

“As I’m sure others have said, this part of London is fast becoming the new Bermondsey and the Beer Merchants Tap is a welcome addition. It’s in an old warehouse just round the corner from Hackney Wick station and close to Crate and Howling Hops. We visited prior to the 2018 Beavertown Extravaganza, when it opened at 17.00 following a reception for the Extravaganza brewers. The beer range was terrific - 20 taps - and as well as their own cheese and meat platters food was also available from a Salty Loin truck in the pleasant outdoor area (I say pleasant but I imagine at quieter times it may seem a bit noisy and dusty due to all the building work going on in this otherwise semi-derelict but soon to be up and coming area). (Visited 7 September 2018).“

“Another fairly new place in Hackney. This one has a wide range of taps and a huge amount of bottles to choose from. Standard modern interieur, fast service also during busy times, and overall a really good place. Early opening hours are also good for the holiday tickers. A great addition to the Hackney beer scene.“

“Can't believe I've not rated this place yet, been here twice Saturday 17th March with Jude and Baz and again Saturday 30th July 2018 with Mum and Keith. Its really easy to find, its just north of of the Overground and then right at the next road and it's on the left hand side. It's in a large square old building that has been tastefully restored/renovated.

There is an outside terrace area that runs along the side and beside the entrance, inside it is a large open plan space. There is a row of fridges off to the left along the wall, the bar is straight ahead with a few more fridges to the right hand side of this. A raised seating area takes up about just under half of the floor space in here with long tables and bench seating, further seating in the area near the main entrance and in front of the bar. It has adopted the all too familiar industrial look, but it is smarter than Brewdog and others. There is a further room and toilets off to the left hand side, I believe this is the barrel ageing area but there is seating as I recall.

Staff were great on both of our visits and the place is clearly very popular. You can either select from the fridges or from the large tap list, we've done both and as we were part of the crowdfund set up benefitted from the invest £50 get £100 to spend at the bar, which we have dipped into now on both occasions, however one of the pre-loaded cards still has about £80+ on it, so prices aren't too bad here. There are a few regulars on tap that don't really excite but I have managed to get some decent beers on both visits. With Crate, Howling Hops and Mason and Co all close this is a must visit place.“

“Dropped in here on my way home from a couple day stay in Stratford. Location is a bit industrial, which makes it spacious. Lots of regulars there at opening. Has a bit of Hipster feel. Was able to grab some beers to go at about £4 a bottle. So not necessarily that cheap, but not exactly expensive either. If I’m in the area again I want to try their pizza as it smelled great.“

“I suppose you get what you pay for... quality comes at a price. To drink in tap beers (2 real ales and 20 keg) about average London prices, but bottles and cans ok if take away but if you drink in a whole £2,50 extra! Would be cheaper to travel to Beguim and drink there! Pity as I liked everything else about this venue. This new venue adds weight to visiting Hackney Wick for a pub crawl.“

“Visited July 2018. Easy to find, since placed close to the Overground station.. Placed in an old industrial building, rather spacy with a lot of seatings both inside as outside. Lots of beers on tap, lots of beets in the fridge, both to drink in the pub and to take away.. One could easy stay here for a long time, especially on a hot day like today, since they have a good working air condition.. Very friendly service, beers served in good condition.. They serve cheese/ meat plates.. the beers scene is a good mix of UK and foreign beers..“

“I liked it. Simple beer hall but done well. Good use of lighting in evening helps create atmosphere. Fleetwood Mac and Peter Gabriel on the music. Sample tray was £8.50 for 5 beers I thought was good value. I liked the stripped down feel.“

“Large warehouse conversion on an industrial estate. Nice outside space next to the canal, this place can get crazy busy, it’s quite hipster-ish too. In addition to Crate’s own beers they often have guest beers available. Personally I’ve never really rated the Crate beers that highly. Wouldn’t put anyone off trying this place themselves though“

“Large old brick building a short walk from Hackney Wick overground station. It’s a tank bar set out in a German beer hall style, a large room with bench seating. Due to the size of the place I've found it better to visit when it’s busy (great ambiance) rather than 1pm on a Monday lunchtime when one might be the only customer. 10 huge tanks dispensing HH’s own beers behind the bar. I do think their beer has improved in quality over the years. Worth a visit. Crate taproom is next door“

“Visited in February 2018 on a quiet Monday afternoon. Quite a nice rough and ready industrial look inside dominated by the 10 big beer tanks at one of the ends of the premises. Glad to see they offered flights so made the most of 2 x 5 flight samples to try all the beer on offer. Staff was friendly enough, and looked like they had some interesting food but didn't partake. Overall a decent enough venue to hit while in the area.“

“This place is in a lovely old brick building only two minutes walk from Hackney Wick overground station. It’s an impressive conversion, a big two room space with some outside seating out front. 20+ taps serving a wide range of styles from breweries in the Cave Direct stable. I hope that the standard of beers on tap remains as high outside of opening week. Huge range of bottle & cans in around 10 large fridges The house beer Huis is fantastic! Could drink it all day. An excellent addition to the London drinking scene.“

“Just next door to Crate. Really enjoyed the place, on a brew day/bottled day, even more so than the vibe at Crate. Tried most of their beers, some quite solid, others sporting some off-buttery notes - or maybe the Fuller type yeast? Interesting styles available from German to the more robust UK styles and IPAs. Missed out on the bbq spot, inside the brewery, that opens at 18h but looked mighty good.“

“Nice location along the small canal, plenty of room inside and outside. Really nice to see how a lot fo the industrial area was revamped into quite attractive businesses. “This is the taproom and restaurant that belongs to the brewery that is just a building away. Their food is amazing, the beers are served in mostly good conditions, and you can sit outside next to the canal, which is a lot of fun! Very recommended if you plan to eat here, else it's still a fun place, but maybe not worth the trip to this area.“

“We liked this place with a very industrial feeling .. 10 tanks dispensing their own beers .. what happened to us is actually an odd thing, we had in a couple of places in London their Pale Ale which was really good ,then when we had the same beer there from the tank was completely a different beer very hazy and looked no aged properly .. did not try the food .. good price and kind service .. sitting area outside..“
