Draft. Pale golden body with a frothy white head. Aroma of grass, straw, toasted grain with a hint of spice and lemon. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Nice flavors of grassy hops and lemongrass with a slight tang to finish it off. Crisp, clean malts. Nice one.

Draught at Phoenixville: Aroma of Pils malts, slight Noble hops, slight lemon, and slight grain. Poured yellow/gold in color with a medium-large, creamy white head, that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Hazy. Sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of pils malt, noble hops, grain, and a hint of lemon. Light to medium body. Tingly, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter, dry, pils malt, grain finish.

Draft during PBW 2011. Poured bright gold with white head, with key lime edges. Nose was soapy pale malt, crisp Spalt hops, biscuit, tart apricot. Tastes a bit like a pils/Bopils hybrid, with the crisp pale malt, Saazy hops, limey soapy hints, and some finishing tartness. Nicely done.

In short: A fantastic moderately hoppy thirst lager.
How: Tap at brewpub, Phoenixville location. One of the RBSG 2011 bus-trip pit-stop
The look: Cloudy yellow blonde body topped by a very small white head
In long: Nose is mildly grassy over a bed of fresh country field hay. Taste is full of fresh cereals, fresh hay, country field dried flowers, some tropical fruits, yellowed grass with a spicy edge. Full lively body. Finish is mildly bitter and with a refreshing tartness. All brewpub lagers are fresh beers when you drink them on location, but some are simply better than other at pushing forward this freshness, and it was the case here. This was a near perfect thirst lager, one of the best I’ve had in North-America. In my entire week-end of RBSG 2011 drinking highly rated hyped beers and sought-after sours, it is this simple $5 pint of thirst lager that ended-up being my beer of the week-end. So this is a Standard Pils!! Standard?!?!? I thought Standard was synonym to ’average’ but now I realize it is synonym to ’exceptional’. My mistake, english is not my mother tongue. Great news for me because I’ve been told over and over that I am very standard in bed… awesome!!!

On tap at Slyfox, stop #2 on the RBSG bus. Pours a hazed gold with a thin white head. Toast, grain and earthy noble hops on the nose. Dusty, light citrus. Crisp, grainy and smooth. Very nice.
