UPDATED: APR 6, 2020 (Bottle, Bier Circus, Brussels, 16 Oct 2019) Reddish brown colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit, orange peel, syrup and red apples. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, apples, pears, brown sugar, dried fruit and a mild bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Interesting, with a good fruit character. Quite nice.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2018 Gekocht op 16-08-2018 bij Dranken Geers in Oostakker. En thuis geproefd op 24-11-2018. La Hervoise wordt verdeelt door SA Corman-Collins in Battice en is een wazig donker-bruin biertje dat maar weinig beige schuim maakt bij het uitschenken. Het heeft een romig tot moussige structuur en het blijft wel op een normale manier aan het glas kleven. Pareling kan je zeer moeilijk zien wegens de donkere kleur van het bier. Het schuim zakt vlug in elkaar en na een tijdje blijft er slechts een zeer dun fijn laagje over. Het aroma is karamel-zoet met wat citrus, vanille en een hout-toets. De smaak is karamel zoet en karamel-moutig. In de mond toont La Hervoise een volle body met een ietwat olieachtige textuur en toch ook prikkelend koolzuurgas. Een eerder complex biertje. De nasmaak is wat plakkerig en vloeit lang uit, is wat hop-bitterig en zoetig met hier toch wel wat peer en ook koffie-mout en een heel licht droogje. Een leuk biertje gebrouwen met siroop op basis van appelen en peren maar dit heb ik met enige moeite slechts in de nasmaak waargenomen. UPDATED: MAY 30, 2018 Bouteille offerte par Jean-Paul de ... Herve. Apparence : grenat, petite mousse. Nez : épices, fruits rouges, poire. Bouche légèrement acidulée, un peu de candi (de sirop ?), du caramel, des fruits (cerise, prune, poire). Corps moyen, petite amertume. Pas mal car le sucre est maitrisé et l'alcool est bien caché.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2019 Bière au sirop de Herve (c'est un sirop de poires et de pommes confectionné au pays de Herve). Robe rousse brune, belle mousse aux reflets orangées, haute et crémeuse qui tient longtemps. Nez fruité, on retrouve le sirop de poire, groseilles et fraises. Bouche également fruitée sur des saveurs de poires et de fraises, amertume agréable avec de houblons herbeux et épicés. Longueur moyenne mais amertume durable, les notes de fruits restent quand même bien en bouche, corps dense limite liquoreux, bonne carbo, alcool qui chauffe les oreilles. Belle surprise, méfiant habituellement quant à l'ajout de sirop dans la bière, on a ici un bel équilibre entre l'amertume de la bière, le sucre et le côté fruité du sirop de Herve !

(bottle) murky brown colour with a frothy light-beige head. aroma of roasted wheat and bubble gum, with lots of bum bum schnaps, liquorice and earth. flavour is more bubble gum and cherry juice, slightly tannic, with a hint of yeast and a light toasted-bitter finish. heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

Brown. Aroma is indeed pear, caramel, earthy, soy sauce. Taste is quite dry with sour pear and some tannins. Also quite some amount of dead yeast. Murky alcoholic. A bit watery still. Misses some body. Ok.

Bottle. Dry chocolate covered pear/berry, some spices. Murky brown, offwhite lace. Permumed, metallic roast, light salt, chalky light mouthfeel. Dry muddled finish.

Bottle. Brown color with white head. Aroma is pear syrup indeed, chocolate, dark malts, a touch roasted. Taste is fruit syrup, chocolate, earthy, herbal. Silky mouthfeel with high carbonation. Drinkable, but not too convincing.

F: medium size, tan, quick diminishing. C: dark brown, hazy, opaque. A: malty, pear, cocoa, mellow fruity, bit spicy, candy. T: red/dark fruits, bit herbal, spicy, caramel, pear, not very sweet, bit honey, interesting but in a good way, medium body and carbonation, not great but good, enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Carrefour market, Route de Marche, Bastogne.
