jjsint (7741) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 29, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2020 Can bought from Beautiful Beers and drunk at home. Light to mid-gold and clear. There's a little ring of white head. Marmalade and lemon biscuit in the aroma with some floral notes. Taste is fairly bitter with astringent hops to the fore. Lemon peel and a tpuch of TCP in the finish. Medium to heavy carbonation. Not the hoppiest APA you're likely to have, but it's got some decent character.

snowcrash000 (2276) - Cologne, GERMANY - JAN 24, 2020
UPDATED: JAN 24, 2020 Pours a cloudy, light amber coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smell is very subdued with only quite faint biscuity, caramel malt and tropical hops coming through. Taste is not terribly expressive either, but does have a nice balance of biscuity malt and faint tropical/citrus hops going on, with notes of mango, papaya, grapefruit and tangerine, as well as some resinous pine coming through as well. Finishes with a light bitterness and some faint tropical notes and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. While I do realize that is probably a little past its prime at 4 months old, It's really not *that* old and this just doesn't seem to keep up very well. I've had plenty of (I)PAs at the same age that where still a lot more expressive, to be honest. I mean, this is still enjoyable enough for a 5% ABV brew, don't get me wrong, but it just doesn't wow me or anything. I have adjusted my score slightly upwards to make up for the age, but I'm generally getting the impression that Cigar City brews just don't hold up very well by now.
