COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. UPDATED: OCT 24, 2023 Hazy brown appearance. Pored with a medium head. Initially I thought it was a pleasant nutty brown ale. After a while it became more complex than that with a lot of subtle flavours floating around. Left no lacing. An interesting beer.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2023 Servido en cáliz, color marrón cobrizo, turbia, espuma beige claro bien retenida. Aroma a levadura, malta tostada, frutos secos, ciruelas pasas, dátiles, pastel de chocolate, licor, especias...
En boca tiene un ingreso entre un primer tacto ligeramente dulce y un amargor consistente, notas de regaliz, frutos secos, vino tinto, pan tostado...El trago es cálido de largo retrogusto, fondo levemente dulce, marcado amargor, y algo especiado.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2023 33cl bottle at Le Poechenellekelder, Bruxelles, Belgium. Pours brown, with fine whitish foam. Aroma is intensely malty, a little smoked. Body is average, with fine but intense carbonation. Taste is fairly sweet, though the final is still balanced.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2023 The aroma of berries, burned sugar, malt, caramel. Brown in color with small bubbles. Caramel, burned sugar, berries in taste. Medium body, medium carbonation.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2023 Donkerrood/ bruin mistig bier met een gebroken witte 2-vingerdikke schuimkraag van fijne structuur die zeer lang blijft staan. Sowieso een heel levendig bier. Geur is zoet van de mout en fruitig (kersen). Ook de smaak is fruitig met een heel licht zuurtje waardoor er een complexe smaakontwikkeling is.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2023 Lichtbruin bier met een beige schuimkraag. Aroma van zure appel. Bah. Geen idee of het zo hoort, of een slecht flesje was.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2023 Bottle at Ebenezers, Nantwich. Pours a deep ruby with a smll foamy cream head and good lacing. The aroma has almonds, peanuts and malts. In the mouth it is sharp / tart – not quite sour. Flavour has cherries, malts yeast, spices and cloves, with hints of raspberries and chocolate. Finishv is quite dry. Try is rather nice – but to be sipped slowly.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2023 Dark brown with nice frothy off-white head which stays long. Aroma of dried fruits, yeast, spices, hint of caramel. Taste has lots of berries and fruits, some citrus and sweetness. Finishes dry. Full body, average carbonation. Intresting berry forward belgian ale.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2022 Beim Öffnen des Oerbiers kommt zuerst Rauch / Dampf und dann Schaum aus der Flasche. Hier bestätigt sich was auch andere Rezensionen sagen: übermäsige Schaum Aktivität. Nach geduldigem Warten bis die üppige Schaumkrone abgeklungen ist haben wir ein dunkelbraunes Bier mit stabiler fingerdicker und feinporiger Krone. Der Geruch erinnert an Rosinen, Beeren und Likör. Röstaromen im Hintergrund. Beim Antrunk ziemlich sanft mit Tendenz zu einem Pflaumen Likör, den ich mal getrunken habe. Sehr komplex kommt mir das Bier aber nicht vor, hier habe ich schon andere Quadrupel getestet. Dafür ist es hochgradig und gefährlich rezent bei gut eingestellter Honigsüße. Beim Abgang bitterer und deutlicherer Alkohol, wobei die 9% doch nicht vermutet werden können. Zweifellos ein gutes Bier jedoch nicht auf den Spitzenplätzen.
