Dogfish Head Beer To Drink Music To
Bottle from J’s. Pours a deep gold to light amber with a small bit of head. Big cardamon nose with green walnut and coriander and a very distinct tripel-like yeast aroma. Mint and orange zest on the palate with a lingering mint flavor. Gets better as it warms. Bit of black pepper on the finish as well.

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale
Pours a clear amber color with a small ivory head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is brown bread, pumpkin but not overpowering, and some spices but faint. In the flavor I pick up lightly roasted malts, caramel, some spice up front with a mild hop kick, and there is some pumpkin but once again not overpowering.

Bottle from Milk and Hops, Chelsea. Pours dark brown with a small ring of head and minimal lace. Meat and coffee on the aroma, some lactose notes. Roasty, smokey, and meaty flavor. Light bitter. Medium bodied, tingly mouthfeel. A little odd, but pretty decent.

Here’s an idea - if you’re going to put pork in a beer, maybe mention that on the carton. Picked up a 12 pack, read the descript online, took it back the next day unopened. Even if I wanted meat-beer, scrapple’s disgusting - heads, hearts, snouts all boiled and ground up. Nasty stuff, do not want.

Points for being interesting I guess. Okay, smoky, maple, chocolate, chickory coffee, strange spice. I’ll stick with "breakfast stouts", methinks.

12 oz bottle from a 6-Pack. Poured into stemmed IPA glass. Thin white head dosnt last long. Some thin lacing left on glass. Beer is a fairly pale clear golden color. Faint pine notes in aroma. Taste has a hint of sweet upfront followed by some notes of pine and grasses. Medium bitter. A medium bodied beer with average carbonation. Overall a solid average IPA.

Dogfish Head Pennsylvania Tuxedo (8.5%)
12oz bottle. 10/21/16 code date. Appearance: Deep golden brown with a light amber hue, brilliantly clear, with a moderate off white foam head. Aroma: Grassy citrus hop notes dominate. Pine tree aroma getvstringer as the beer warms, and begins to dominate the profile. Overall aroma is moderatelyvstrong for an IPA. Taste: Moderate caramel malt sweetness, with a strong citrus character that instantly runs smack dab into a pine tree. Strong pine mixed with the citrus brings obvious thoughts of Pine Sol to mind. Strong bitterness hits at the finish, but balances well against the malt base. Mouthfeel: Medium to heavy bodied for the style, with low carbonation. Finish: Leaves a warm caramel malt and strong pine retronasally. Overall: Quite an interesting beer. Beautiful appearance, strong citrus character, true pine tree aromas, and well balanced. My brain keeps telling me there’s pine sol in this glass, but as the beer warms the balance tips more toward the pine and is very nice.

Gold and light orange with a creamy white head. Caramel malt is heavier with just enough citrus and pine hops to cut the sweetness. Balanced but not as fantastic as everyone makes it out to be.

Amazing idea, fairly solid results. The adjuncts are a bit murky with such a kaleidoscopic approach, yet the finished brew has a mellow citric saltiness, easy on the palate yet curious enough to keep the beer interesting. A bit watery on the finish, but otherwise fascinating.

Dogfish Head Flesh & Blood IPA
Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Clear reddish orange with a 2-finger off-white head and very good lacing. Aroma of intense citrus, especially blood oranges, with a little toasted grain. Taste of blood orange, lemon peel, orange peel and a little toasted grain. Medium/light body and medium/high carbonation. Something is off with the mouthfeel. It is not a brew I want to let linger on my tongue. Overall, this is heavy-handed on the adjuncts. I love blood orange, but not as the dominant flavor in a beer. I have no objection to augmenting a brew, but I would rather the flavor came principally from a selection of hops and malts, not from adjuncts. The hops and malt flavors are pretty well buried in this one. If you let the beer sit for a while, some of the adjuncts dissipate and you can pick up a little hop bitterness. But even then, it is well short of a well-crafted, balanced IPA. Keep experimenting Dogfish Head, but maybe this one should have stayed at the brewhouse. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Cooper’s. pours dark thick inky brown with thick mocha head that laces heavily. Aroma is heavily roasty dark chocolate malt, big woody/oaky flavor, port, soy sauce. Taste is clean big roasty chocolately malt, dry dank woody flavors, rich soy sauce lingers on the finish. Unique beer, really unlike anything else out there. As expected from Dogfish. I’ll admit too, the unusual wood does add something here.

Dogfish Head Bitches Brew
I was lucky enough to get this once early before it disappeared forever. I am not a fan of stouts, but I and a huge fan of Davis- and as such- gave this a try. I do not know the terms involved in rating a stout- Ive tried others a hated them. This beer was the exception. I was immediately struck with the pleasant aroma upon opening the bottle- a mild honey/coffee smell that immediately proved the worth. the tast indeed reminded me of the music= not one word or combination of words can describe the taste. I’ve been able to obtain a few bottles here and there and still have the second of the two bottles unopened from the first release. I noticed it’s best just a few degrees below room temp- in a wide mouthed glass that delivers the aroma immediately prior to taste. Like the music- hard to classify, easy to love.

Dogfish Head Beer for Breakfast
To date, this is my favorite Dogfish Head beer. I have never enjoyed one as much as this one. They usually do some odd off the wall beers and this is no exception, however, this time it’s actually really delicious. You get gigantic coffee and chocolate aroma with a nice sweetness and smokiness. Smells like something you’d drink with a big stack of pancakes. Taste is sweet, smoky, and more sweet. Lots of chocolate, big fresh cold pressed pressed coffee...like super good coffee. Overall, this is a gigantic win and absolutely delicious. I’ve never had scrapple before so I can’t really say that I tasted it but if it tastes anything like bacon I definitely got some. Awesome stuff, actually worth buying a six pack.

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA
(12oz bottle, Virginia USA) AROMA: good dry hopped nose, some typical hop bouquet, fresh, green, hint of coffee/mocha and grapefruit, nice complexity and balance. APPEARANCE: medium/light amber, touch off-white oily foam, clear. TASTE: roasted corn, smokey, mocha, solid hop middle, with raisin/prune, touch of citrus peel, dry toast, herbal. PALATE: quite frizzy on the tongue, cleansing, dry finish on oner cheeks, only medium bodied, not heavy or overbearing. OVERALL: love the balanced nose, visually just an average ale, nice smokey/mocha malt to go with a hoppy finish. Very drinkable. Somewhat unique in the IPA family.

Hazy gold small white head. Aroma mild but nice - white grape, saffron, honey. Taste very much follows. Funky grapes with a touch of seasoned honey. Still, it's beer - with elements of mead and wine. Interesting but I wouldn't want more than one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a black color with dark brown hues and almost no head. Aromas of cocoa, vanilla, maple syrup, coffee, and smoked meat. Chocolate, coffee and some smoky, maple scrapple is what I get on the taste, all appropriately subtle. Smooth mouthfeel with little carbonation. Outstanding breakfast stout. Even better than Founders in my opinion.

Shared a bottle with Sr. Netz- Great dark golden color. Didn’t hold the lacing head very long, but still had some at the edges. Smelled grassy and resiny, but could not cover the faint boozy notes. It has a huge hop punch as it rolls into the mouth but mellows quite a bit on the backside. Still a classic for hoppiness.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium creamy brown head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet creamy lactose and bakers chocolate with some smoky roast.

The flavor is sweet creamy chocolate with roasty bbq. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, an interesting beer. Lots of sweet and smoky roast, but not a lot of coffee...not sure on the scrapple.
