Continuing my Rogue Imperial Stout biannual vertical (1996-2008 skipping 98); today the 2002 12 oz bottle. It tastes very good, no oxidation apparent, lots of chocolate and a bit of pepperiness; but flatter than a pool table; about two larger bubbles and this had a regular cap; not the screw caps of the ’96 and ’00. My baby boy Enniskillen says it’s not a vertical because I am drinking the 6 bottles over six days, but what the heck! Two each of 6 oz, 12 oz, and 750 ml bottles would be undo-able by myself in a sitting!

Anchor steam beer. Well that’s just clean and delicious.
Isn’t it?
I sure wish that was the case. Shew, talk about a beer that has seen better days. Husky malt, rotting fruit character, severely unclean all-around. It seems Anchor isn’t even trying anymore.
