“We visited “Zur Liesl” on April 16th 2022 just one week after the opening. Very centrally located in an old cigarette factory. It is the 3rd Kaltenhausen place owned by Heineken and it is another great one. They revived the traditional Linzer Bier and have a few more steel industry themed beers on tap. A small brewhouse is at the rear left end of the pub. Very nicely decorated and definitely a place we will visit again when in the area.“

42 /100 PFARRGASSE 12
“The granite was in the Steingasse for seven years, in the summer of 2012 it moved to its present location on the Pfarrgasse, inside the Old Town Hall. Inside there is a cozy "living room" atmosphere for lovers of cosy spaces, it holds approx 40 people and there are a lot of high tables and stools. Its not a place for "militant" non-smokers! It is well run and very friendly. Small snacks are offered along side a solid (if not adventurous) beer selection.“

“A classic Irish pub, centrally located in the heart of Linz Austria. It doesn't get much more Irish. The heart of the Irish owner is seen throughout, with an array of signage, pictures, coins, and sporting memorabilia complementing the wooden nooks and tables. Always nice selection of International and Austrian beers on tap and bottled plus a fridge full of good Austrian beers. Also there is a gamut of fine whiskies, at very reasonable Irish prices! Quench thy soul as well as thine thirst, with an authentically Irish welcome.“

“A small brewpub a short walk from the center, at the south station market area, it looks like a fast food place! You cant miss it as its painted blue. There is also outside seating. The brewing equipment is prominent and a plus is they offer brewing course's. They have 5 taps and a fridge with bottles all brewed with love and 💓! by a young and knowledgeable couple who understand the beer craft. (Respect!) Good little place with friendly staff and good beer snacks, they also have early opening hours, always a plus in Austria.“

“Service at this place was swift and accommodating. I have limited German speaking abilities but the waiter understood my "Danglish". I love dark beers and ordered one of their home brews but also got tasters from the other 2 Josef Linzy brews. I enjoyed each one and found my chosen beer to be what I expected, excellent! Recommend this home brew to any passing traveller and the establishment is easy to find. I did not eat here but the food passing my eyes and nose was tempting :).“

“They used to brew on site, but changed that some years ago. Now they have some beers that (apparently) get exclusively brewed for them by Brau Union. The place is quite huge, food is decent and rather big portions. Smoking is an issue. Ok for the ticks“

“Small place a short walk from the center in a market area. The place houses also the brewing equipment. They have 5 taps and a fridge with bottles. The smallest size is 0,2l which is still somewhat Ok for tasting the beers. I tried 2 beers on site of which one was not very good, but the second one was actually quite nice. Decent and also early opening hours. Overall recommended place in Linz. Also nice, the market has some cider options.“

“Visited in the summer of 2016 with sebilinz. A nice modern bar with a nice selection of internationals and some nice locals as well. For a visitor who knows Austrian beer and the most basic imports, it's not too exciting, though. Food looked good, though we didn't eat. Nice, but not great.“

“Visited with sebilinz last summer. Classic Irish pub, centrally located in Linz. A fridge full of good Austrian beers, and some international goodies. Kind staff with fast service as well, as well as fairly priced. Definitely a fun place to visit!“

“Visited here with Sebilinz and Saeglopur about 2 months ago. Nice ambience. Service was OK but not overwhelming. Beer selection is nice, but also not very convincing. Austrian offers are rather on the macro side / I would be more happy with some more Austrian micro breweries on offer. International offers could also be a bit more interesting. Overall OK but nowhere near outstanding. Prices are also a bit on the upper side. Food was good. Overall OK place.“

“Visited with seblinz about a week after opening. A modern and poche place that is busy with young people. The staff quickly found us a table and also served us quickly, and the staff is also nicer than in traditional Austrian places. A couple of dozen beers on the menu, mostly stuff coming from standard distribution channels, but nice selection. Slightly pricy, but still okay. Definitely worth a visit if you’re already in the city.“

Klosterhof Linz (Restaurant)

“A large place that nevertheless has a nice feeling. Service can take its time sometimes. Lots of Stiegl beers to try here, including the famous Grapefruit Radler. The food is standard Austrian food, solidly prepared, but nothing too exciting either. Overall worth a quick visit, but not the first place to go to in Linz (but apparently it’s one of the very few places which is also open on Sundays).“

“Clean and well-ordered bottle shop quite centrally located in Linz. Selection is quite standard for the internationals, but also has interesting Austrian locals which I needed in my ticking portfolio. Prices are fair. Not exquisite, but solid enough.“

“Nice place, basically has the same selection as the other beer tempel store. I guess its just a tad bigger. Half the selction is austrian, micros and macros, then quite some belgian and the usual other fair. Both for locals and tourists its a good idea to drop by. They also have an online shop, but not necessarily all the beers are listed there.“

“Bottle shop in the centre of Linz. Average Selection but I think this will be getting better over time. What I really like about this shop is the delivery service which is very useful if you have to work longer and you are in need for some drinkable beer. The delivery service is highly recommended and delivers till 2 after midnight.“

“Located at the end of a side lane to the busy Landstrasse, this very neat and tidy store offers a decent selection of domestic and foreign craft beers as well as some well known macros. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. Definitely a place to visit if you are in Linz.“

Josef Linz (Restaurant)
LANDSTRAßE 49
“Located in the busy Landstrasse in the very centre of the city, it is essentially a very spacious restaurant, which happens to produce its own beer. The two brewa, a Helles and a somewhat unfinished Dunkel, are nothing exciting. Neither is the service, which is very slow. Not very expensive but some waiters seem to be keen on cheating gravely with the change. Well, at least the food was palatable. A country place tick if you are a visitor from abroad, not more than that.“

“Place opened just in May 2015 and is the second Biertempel beside Biertempel Hofberg. This shop is bigger and more generous, nice ambiance. Selection seems also to be greate but has not as expanded as I hoped. So more or less a pretty averange selection with few outstanding finds.“

“Nice bar in the heart of Linz with an ok selection of belgium beers. Pretty standard stuff and nothing to get excited about but a first good step. They serve waffles and different tarte flambées, but I would love to get Moules Frites.“

“Bit of mass put-through type of place. However the pils/helles was very drinkable. It gets very busy (we had two visits) and it can take an age to get served. As far as we could ascertain this is definetely not a brewpub but is brewed locally and is a cut above the usual mass produced stuff normally available.“

“A rather large and modern place on Linz´ main joint. Funny toilets with TV screens. The keller outside is a nice escape from this hugely commercial neighborhood, but I would not want to hang around too long. And I simply dislike Linz, but the fact remains that this is your best option in the city. The beers are quite good though..“
