“Visited in June '23, on a Friday evening. They were already getting ready to close because it was a quiet evening, but we were allowed in to order one drink. Small, cozy pub, brown café style. We had their Hells and Rauchichs, both decent beers, albeit over-carbonated. Certainly worth at least a short visit. Short walk down the street from Spezial.“

“Visited in June '23. Quite busy, great ambiance, much much bigger place than you'd tell from standing outside on the sidewalk. Enclosed patio is huge. Sat outside on one of the sturdy picknick benches. Apparently it was already time for the last round as soon as we got our first beer here. Had the really tasty Export and decent Helles Keller. Service was decent, efficient. Well worth a stop.“

Mahr’s Bräu (Restaurant)
WUNDERBURG 10
“Visited in June '23. Half an hour walk out of the city center. The weather was great, so we sat outside. Fairly large patio, plenty of sheltered seating. Had the Sommer Lager and Pils, both in mediocre shape. Service was typical for the region, grumpy but efficient. Had a good Schweinshaxe for a decent price. Didn't venture inside the building. Too bad Keesmann, opposite of Mahr's, was already closed.“

“Visited June ´23. Weather was great so we sat outside in their small sheltered garden. Not the most spectacular view here (walls) but being at beer heaven more than makes up for that. Had the slightly disappointing Märzen from the wooden barrel (must have had the last bit, tasted sludgy and earthy), checked out the lovely rooms indoors and went back on our way. Great stop, friendly and efficient service (outdoors is table service only), next time we'll make it a longer visit.“

“More of a modern brewpub than a typical franconian brewers bar, but nice. Good schnitzel, nice beers from BroBier (even offering flights), good service. What´s not to like?“

“Nice, small and cozy inside (visited during the winter). Beers are perfectly fine. Less crowded than some of the usual suspects on the main streets, but the locals seems to find it here.“

“Very popular and crowded with a younger audience despite apparently being one of the oldest pubs in town (didn’t look like that). We got lucky since their Grünhopfen Festbier had been released only two days prior. The beer was solid but nowhere near some other producers. Multiple beers available.“

“Cozy traditional restaurant, old Bavarian look, feels like a tavern stop from old times almost, incredibly quick service. Keller was very solid but there is better in town, Rauchbier on the other hand was luckily amazing condition even if not one to drink more than two half liters of. Traditional heavy on pork food obv. Other members of the company tried and enjoyed it.“

“Short walk up a hill, we sat in the garden in the back which looks like repurposed stables. Heavy rain but even with the rain the view was great, quick, good service and standard price. We found all beers in absolutely amazing condition. Highly recommended.“

“Located almost right next to Schlenkerla but almost empty as well especially compared to Schlenkerla, modern with almost a botanic garden look inside. More expensive than elsewhere and they even do a flight of beers! 4 beers on tap I think, quality is not as bad as people say but obviously way below many other breweries in town. Fun to sit outside and watch the tourists. On the one hand yes worse beer for more money, on the other hand not that terrible, competition is just world class. Obviously nowhere near essential in Bamberg. Hey the beer at Fässla is worse.“

Weyermann Fan Shop (Beer Store)
BRENNERSTRASSE 17-19
“Touristic, modern but done well for sure, friendly service, about 4 fridges with Weyermann beers in very wide range of beers, you can drime them outside on some tables. They sell beers from a lot of different breweries to which they supply malts including stuff like BA Firestone Walker, Eclipse, Sierre Nevada, some older bottles but all old stuff was things that easily can take age like big stouts etc. Cool t-shirts, hop shampoo, snacks, dog treats even, massively surprised by the selection. Amazing place.“

“Didn't seem open at all when we arrived, once an employee saw us, he guided us, and they checked up on us a few times. Lots of greenhouses where they grow all kinds of fruits & vegetables, hop garden in the back, huge inside bar / party room area, event location, quite a lot of stuff going on. 8 beers on tap, samples available, Zwickle, Helles but also tomato & cucumber beer, later were still very Bavarian style, clean, crisp dry with just a hint of tomato in the tomato one. Still Bavarian beer with unusual ingredients. They also make cool gins with herbs which they grow etc. Lots of drawing on the walls, cartoony, cool place for sure, great being in the garden.“

“Open later in the evening, student / younger audience bar, this place is a total mess with many rooms and mezzanines, took couple of tries till we found the bar, dark, cozy. Nice livingroom, low goth older vibe / look. Friendly service. Spezial U & Grasser on tap, good condition.“

“Younger and student audience, open late in the evening, dark bit Bohemian / living room look, football table. Visited twice, first evening they had plastic keg of Möchsambacher up on the bar, gravity pours, only bottles second visit Möchsambacher & Keesmann Hell. Music installation was hilariously bad, good Mexican er, Schnapps wheel that you can spin for 2 euros to get a mystery shot, got ask if I had any allergies before taking my first shot (hazelnut), cash, friendly, cool place. Cool and fun place.“

“Student bar with metal days in center of town. Lots of brick and wood, huge number of tourists, quite big, popular & mainstream modern bad metal. Very friendly service, server heard that it was the birthday of someone from the group and gave us all a free round of shots without even checking ID. About 5 Fässla beers on tap, diacetyl in mine, not a great brewery, fair prices, bit menu of shots, cocktails, their Mexican er was really nice tough, shots had funny toppings, tortilla for Mexican er, cucumber salt and pepper for the pickle one. Not a Fässla fan but defiantly a different place from their traditional restaurant to try their beers. They also sold 1 litter of pils, cola & schnapps I think mix for 9.70 euo?“

“Visited in June. Stop #2 of the day, opted to sit outside on their patio. Had a nice chat with some locals at our table. Waiter was in for some fun but still efficient, beers were almost all good to very good, with the Rauchbier as the clear winner. Black, bold and smokey as hell. Food was decent as well, typical German grub but well executed and decently priced. Didn't sit inside but looked like a nice place to drink inside as well, oldskool, lots of wood and beams, you know the drill. Certainly recommended.“

“Visited the Keller in June on a lovely sunny day. First stop of the day, stepped in for a few beers before lunch. Small uphill walk from the city center. Large keller with picnic tables, lots of families coming in for lunch. If fully occupied tables will be shared, which really adds to the lively atmosphere, had a nice chat with a couple of local visitors. The few beers that were on were decent to good, the bottled Roter Bock was great, quick and attentive service, food looked good as well, certainly worth the 'trek' out of the city center.“

“Visited in June, right after a horrible Spezial-experience. Stood outside in their covered beer garden. Lots of locals having a good time here, great vibe and the beers we had were in good shape as well. Lots of wood, hop vines, beers can be ordered at the desk in the hallway. Not a big fan of their beers, but I could have stayed a lot longer here.“

“Visited in June, first stop of the trip in order to visit beer heaven first. But man, how horrible can your service be?! I'm used to various degrees of blunt service in NL but this one took the cake. After asking inside to 3 inert, cross-armed staff members if we could take a seat outside we were looked at if we asked the stupidest question in the world. All tables were reserved but apparently it's not an issue if you sit down until that reserved time, it's only an issue to ask questions. The waitress just asked Wass? (what?). Without making any eye contact or interaction the beer was smacked onto our table. We drank our Ungespundet and decided to leave after that. Low ambiance rating due to horrible service, we didn't feel welcome at all.“

“Visited a few times in June. Small, warm store with a small selection of regional / local beers. Perhaps not the cheapest, but for someone not from this area like me great to pick up a few nice local beers. They also have a few fridges, which was great to take out a few cold beers to enjoy on the bridge close to the shop.“

“Etwas verschachtelte Brauereigaststätte mit mehreren hintereinander angeordneten holzgetäfelten Räumen. Am besten speist man im hinteren Raum, dort bleibt man ungestört von den teilweise lautstarken Gästen in den vorderen Räumen. Solide Küche, freundliche Bedienung, erstklassiges Pils vom Faß. Eine gute Adresse in Bamberg. (Wieder besucht 24.8.2023.)“

“Kleine Auswahl an Bamberger, etwas größere an ausgefallenen Craftbieren, beide zu stolzen Preisen. Wer wie ich vor allem fränkische Biere sucht, ist mit fast jedem REWE-Getränkemarkt im Umland besser bedient - da hat man größere Auswahl und zahlt nur halb so viel. Bin gespannt, wie lange sich dieses Geschäftsmodell, das Alltagsgetränk Bier als Luxusgut zu vermarkten, noch halten kann. (Besucht 21.8.2023.)“

“Visited July 2023. Crowded, busy and loud Wirtshaus with a Biergarten inside of a court. Self service for beer only. Rather dirty outside, plenty of people. Beers good though, 3 options (Lager, Gold-Pils, Weizen bottled). Maybe not the best option.“

“An historic brewpub it's one of the oldest and most traditional buildings in the area, dating back to the 1300s! (Newly renovated in 2013 when the brewery started up again) with wood beams and outdoor tables, serving typical Bavarian meals, beer and cocktails, with an area for smoker. A great atmosphere, frequented by locals, who are friendly with us foreigners 🙃 Very friendly and helpful staff. A perfect location with in the heart of everything. A must visit when in Bamberg!“

“Visited in 2017. It‘s a museum in a pretty old cellar, like hundreds of years old. A usual museum which tells you the history of beer and the brewing process as well as old machines, equipment, bottles and many more old stuff. It might be interesting for people who are new to beer, but not a must visit for a beer expert. The staff is very nice and they even did sell one Museumsbier, which was a re-branded Weiherer Kellerbier.“

“Located on the outskirts of the Old Town of Bamberg, just opposite Brauerei Fässla, this venue is a typical one of its kind - a decent Bavarian brewpub, spacious, with a biergarten and an interior decorated on light wood, and heavily frequented by locals and tourists alike. A rather limited but tasty selection of beers brewed on location (3 taps and 4 bottles), and friendly staff. Tasty and satiating food - I had the Hungarian stew, wich features on the menu along some other traditional items.“

Decent selection of beers brewed on location (4 taps and 6 bottles), and friendly staff. A good place to chill out on a summer weekend evening. “Located in the middle of the enchanting Old Town of Bamberg, this stylish retro Braukeller is very popular with licals and tourists alike. No wonder, since the delicious beer brewed on location is widely known. However, you would probably have tasted most of it before reaching the place. If so, go for the Kräusen, available only here and only in summertime, or for the lesser known bottles, which can be found in the shop in the same venue. Amiable staff and popular prices, but do not expect more than 2-3 taps to be running.“
