“This one also turned out to be surprisingly closed on our visit, luckily this meant mainly no restaurant, but we could have our beers outside. Some other locals were also drinking outside. By local standards quite a few beers including bottles which you could get to go or from the beer vending machine behind the nearby bus stop. Beer was not as good as others in the area but still solid.“

“We arrived to find the place closed – changed closing hours were posted on the door but obviously not online etc. Luckily after some argument they allowed us to have a beer outside which is cool. Just incredibly good keller. The table outside did have an almost satanic amount of flies on it which made it a bit less optimal environment, still amazing beer & happy we got something.“

“Tiny town consisting almost of just this brewery and the church, walked into the restaurant first and looked totally deserted and closed, were told that it’s at the back. Great weather, sitting at the back, brewery was serving just beer – inquiring we found out that the other beer was available also in bottled so both beers available. Beer quality was just unbelievable good at 2.50 euro for the draft beer. Just unbelievably good beers really. You cannot buy a crate currently. Some of the best beer in the world.“

“Visited the Bierkeller. What a great atmosphere! Good beer, good food, fair prices. Self service, of course, but a fantastic place to relax and enjoy in the middle of nowhere.“

“Visited this place on a Wednesday evening in June. Place was already about 80% full .. would be worried about coming on a summer weekend! Great atmosphere, pleasant and cool under the trees. We sat at the very back, where there’s a view over the nearby pond. Good food. Best tasting Kellerbier of the whole trip. Very nice!“

“Pleasant seating up on the hill. You can hike here without too much of a problem from the nearby villages although there is not, to my knowledge, an official beer trail between the breweries as in some other parts of Franconia. Good stop. As others have mentioned though, the beer is better at Roppelt and Lieberth.“

“Finally! Open only in winter, open only on fridays…Cozy and friendly franconian Gasthaus, only one- but superb - Lieberth Bier available, but many different versions of “home-grown” carp… Still a great place to enjoy great Lieberth beers in winter…“

“Visiting the place is a bit of a funny experience - surly regulars staring at the curious strangers appearing and family members behind the bar who still seem perplexed that peoiple come from afar to try the beer (and buy a crate if possible). Still, everyone is happy after getting their beers and you can start to feel like the beer geek exploerers of yore after a visit.“

“Wyjątkowe miejsce z duszą i prawdziwą tradycją. Witzgall Vollbier i Witzgall Landbier to jedne z najlepszych lagerów jakie dane mi było spróbować. Nie omijajcie tego miejsca podróżując po Frankonii.“

“Nice place on edges of a forest. Lots of benches both in shade and in sun. 4 beers, the quality was good. Good food, we had some faschierte laibchen. Worth checking out.“

“As we drove past the brewery we wondered if the place was opened as google suggested since no sign of life could be seen whatsoever. Luckily we decided to check the back yard where locals were enjoying their steins. One beer on tap and one in bottle. Both helles and keller are world class, probably the best I've ever had. The owner refused to sell us beer to go since we had no empty bottles. Even locals persuading him and offering money for the bottles and crate didn't help. Too bad, but nevertheless this was one of the highlights of our Franconia trip.“

“So there are three Lieberth places that are not very far from each other. But the opening times are very confusing. (Something like: yeah if its sunny and warm we maybe open this one except on weekends in october after 3 pm...). So a good hint i have is calling them and asking if they are open. After a little fiddling around this was the one of the three open today. So what to say beyond the obvious? Beer is great and very inexpensive. Beergarden is super cozy. Very recommended.“

“Very down to earth place right in the center of this small village. I arrived quite early and sat down in the small patio/beergarden in the back. Inside was closed at this time. Only a few locals there. One beer on tap and thats it but this one in perfection. Bottles/crates to go.“

“Visited en famille JUN2018. - A very modest place with sparely lit rooms and small back patio without much of a view, well-filled in late Vormittag by locals, slowly bustling with locals renewing their cases of Vollbier. Older couple serving in their own time, younger brewer slightly suspicious of oversharing with the nosey outsiders. Visiting this with a 2yr old and older parents for whom places like this were once an ordinary way to stay hydrated does help to put the lasting quality (but also modern romanticised views) in perspective.“

“Typical franconian "Keller", southwest of the village centre, on a little slope over the village roofs, facing the Aischtal and the beginnings of the "Franconian Switzerland". Not a big selection, as expected, but a nice place to spend the afternoon in the sun or in the shadow. O.K.“

“Smaller than the other places here, it seemed. There were a few beers available, more than others, but I got a Kellerier and not only is is nowhere near as good as Lieberth or Roppelt, is was super warm. Come on, need to try a bit harder. Ok besieds that and being overshadowed by its neighbors.“

“I like the guy who lives near the brewery who reviewed this and said that the lager is barely above average. LMAO. Was with my wife and kid and wife thought best beer of Germany trip was Seinshimer, until she tried the Vollbier here. I stil would go with Seinshimer but this is a close #2. World class lager all the way and that is trying a lot of lager in a lot of countries. The place is beyond dead when we visited on a hot July afternoon, but were treated nicely by the owner and prices were dirt cheaper. This place deserves the hype just for the vollbier“

“A beautiful quiet Keller on the edge of the forest, just a couple minutes away from the brewery. Authentic Keller experience, about as good as it gets. Cheap Roppelt beer with decent food in a great location, this is probably one of my favourite Kellers ever!“

“Place rating #300. Since Lieberth Kellerbier is among one of my fondest beer memories ever, and I gave the Lieberth brewpub a straight 100, I reckoned this is the place to do my anniversary rating. Supreme Kellerbier that bafflingly is listed as "Halbe" instead of "Seidla". Supreme condition, though not as well-lagered as the beer I gave a 4.6 to - though arguably it is better for summer in this condition. Paired with some tasty Zwetschgebaamäs, this place was more than fun. But honestly: this place could be disgusting and totally messed up, if the beer is as good as Lieberth's is, it would still be a top recommendation worldwide.“

“The eternal (hopefully!) destiny of Rittmayer is to be larger and more recognized nationally than, but standing in the shadow of the other Hallerndorf breweries (sans Friedel). Their beers are very, very good, but Lieberth is just 10m away and better, and Roppelt is on the other side of the forest. Hence this Keller would be amazing if it weren't for the fact that even greater Kellers are nearby. But this is crying on a high level even for Franconian standards, so: If you happen to stop by, set foot in here and have a Seidla. Rittmayer is great!“

“Located in between the Kreuzberg and Rittmayer Kellers, this was our favourite of the day. It had by far the best Kellerbier and the mood was more relaxed (less shrieking children) than the other two. Historical and authentic feel. Overall a great place/beer hunt experience.“

“Vast and busy place on the Kreuzberg in a foresty area, the biergarten roaring with people including a lot of children, like a communal gathering place. Above average selection including a very tasty Zwickl, some more hoppy beers and a number of "craft beers" which I didn't try but appeared to be barrel aged Bocks. Food was pleasant, but the downside is that everything's self-service, and you have to stand in two seperate lines to get your food and beer. Next to Lieberth Keller, be sure to spend some time there.“

“Finally. Awesome kellerbier. Cozy and local. Welcoming and friendly. Not easy to reach within opening hours but in the summer you can have the beers at both their Kreuzberg keller and the dorfkeller. This time I got their pils and lager, which on previous visits at their Kreuzberg keller claimed they never had brewed :-)“

“A large and popular place in Hallerndorf. Food is tasty, the beer is one of the many superb beers you can get in this village, and everything is fine. They also have a little shop where you can buy bottles to go. Franconian quality throughout.“

“The opening hours here are not right. You can only eat on Fridays, and it's closed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays (at least that's how the owner told us, but you never know, he didn't go into much detail). The opening hours being wrong actually lead to one of the most memorable beer experiences of my life: Long story short, we were there on a Saturday, and the place was closed. The owner was home, though, and after a little chat, he let us in and poured us beer. After the first Seidla was poured, the keg kicked and before we could say we're happy with just one Seidla he went downstairs, tapped a new keg, drainpoured the beer he had already poured and poured us three super fresh Seidla. We already had a bad conscious for making so much trouble, but he seemed to be happy about us wanting to try his beer. Then he sat down with us and chatted a bit about where we know his beer from and about the problems that small Franconian brewers are facing nowadays. The beer was in a ridiculously good shape and unspeakably tasty, such that it could easily compete with Witzgall in its prime condition, in fact, it was much better for me in that moment than the particular bottles of Witzgall we had the night before at Witzgall. I give this the perfect 100 because this pleasantly surprising beer experience was totally worth it, and everything fit together today. There's no way to not give a full 15 in Selection because the beer is exactly what you want from such a place, there's no way to not give a full 10 in service considering what Mister Lieberth did for us, and there's no way to not give a full 20 overall considering the experience.“

“A huge and modern place located on top of the Kreuzberg - next to the Kellers of Rittmayer and Lieberth. A large selection of beers (about 8 taps and 8 different bottles), so the ticker will be happy here. Also a large selection of food that looks quite tasty. The beers are not the greatest in the area, but still good to tick a couple off if you are here with a group. The Lieberth beer next door is where you want to stay, though (although their Keller is not always open).“
