Idiosynkrasie (10125) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - MAY 10, 2019
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2019 500ml bottle [10% abv]. Hazy, dark brown colour with crimson glimmer and small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Minimally smoky, roasty, dark malty and fruity aroma, notes of blackcurrant, a touch of chocolate and green wood. Taste is tart, fruity and roasty dark malty, notes of blackcurrant, dark chocolate, woody and minimally smoky overtones, a slightly nutty touch, fruit acid, well hidden alcohol. Well balanced, refreshing tartness, good drinkability.

Zlotta (5911) - Hagen, GERMANY - NOV 13, 2018
0.5 l bottle from 'Vormann Brauerei', 2015 vintage at 10% abv, cellared for three-and-a-half years. Clear, ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Slightly sweetish, sourish, fairly fruity aroma of lots of blackcurrant, elderberry and a touch of caramel. Moderately sweet, a bit malty, minimally oxidized, gently sour and quite fruity taste of massive blackcurrant, elderberry, some caramel and hints of molasses, followed by a medium long, gently tart, moderately dry, a bit oxidized and just minimally smoky finish. Medium body, slightly astringent and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite nice, but the great base beer is pretty much hidden behind the berries. I prefer the standard version.

17Beer (810) - Connecticut, USA - OCT 25, 2018
UPDATED: OCT 25, 2018 One Pint bottle from Beer Table. Pours an opaque scarlet with a frothy pink head. Huge wine-like scents of currents. Taste has solid sours but also a surprising amount of malt bready flavors. Big oily mouthfeel transitions into a dry lingering sour finish that lasts. No noticeable alcohol for an 8%. Super complex and not an every day quaff but cool.

Beersiveknown (5380) - NORTHERN IRELAND - SEP 28, 2018
Bottle at home, EU Summer Santa 2018, courtesy of Erzengel - Cheers Gabriel!
This has to be one of the zaniest German beers I've had. Its an alt yes, but its strong, and sour and tastes of blackcurrant. I really enjoyed this, an aged alt complete with musty, earthy malts, then some refreshing sharpness then tart blackcurrant but finishing with a nutty porter like flavour. Would love to try the non-fruited version. Nice find Gabriel!

Poured at Shelton Festival, purple with medium pink head that lasts. The aroma is currants, oak, earth. Medium body, jammy, berry, currants, oak, boozy finish, very good.

DocLock (11546) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 26, 2018
Pours hazy dark purple/black with pink head. Berries in the nose, yeasty fruit, tart acidity. Complex and dense palate with berry flavor, acid, yeast, funk, smooth finish.

minutemat (8464) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUN 23, 2018
500ml bottle, thanks to Erzengel! Pours a deep purple, large purple-pink head. Light fruity nose, blackcurrant hints. Light, thin and surprisingly watery on the palette, albeit juicy. Some light smoky hints behind some mildly juicy blackcurrants. Some red wine acidity creeping in mid-way through with nutty echoes. Interesting and different for sure.

Ritzn (3214) - GERMANY - APR 23, 2018
Red dark brown. Aroma is slight smoky, red berries, a bit toffee. Taste is tart and very tanniny, cocoa, red wine, some chocolate bitterness, sour berries. Very harsh, but with a good fruityness. Some smoke in the finish. Meh.
