Oakes (30717) - Richmond, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 28, 2024
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2024 Amber, hazy, no head. The aroma has a nice woody character, subtle balsamic, mild barrelly vinegar. On the palate, it's tart, but restrained in that tartness. Sweet malts, good complexity of barrel character... I imagine that was the vin jaune.

mcberko (42036) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 28, 2024
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2024 375mL bottle, pours a clear dark amber with a tiny beige head. Aroma reveals balsamic, some sweet dessert wine, and a touch of oak. Flavour is tart, acetic and complex, with plenty of sweet dessert wine, balsamic, tartness, and oak. It's definitely acetic but fittingly so. Finishes tart, acetic and sweet vinous. Very good.

PowY (4562) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - OCT 31, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 31, 2019 375 ml bottle at home, brewed 2014, bottled 2016. Pours a very hazy amber with a white head. The aroma is funky and acidic with balsamic vinegar and wood (typical BFM aromas) along some solvent and glue, ethyl acetate, some black currant. Medium full body with a medium acidity and a light tartness along some solvent like alcohol notes. The flavor starts acidic with balsamic vinegar and lactic notes, followed by lots of wood, white wine, oak and tart light berries. Finishes still acidic with a woody tartness and tart berry notes. eduardovl (1832) - SWITZERLAND - MAR 15, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2019 375ml bottle served in a geek Italian geek chalice glass. A: Pours a cloudy amber color forming a medium creamy tan head with medium retention that forms and leaves some soapy lingering lacings in the glass. S: Nose of sweet, fruity and sour. Strong notes of sweet caramel malts, dark dry fruits, apple vinegar, figs, pears, plums and wild yeasts. Strong notes of wood. Notes of leather. Metallic hints. T: Slightly sweet upfront that becomes quickly deliciously sour. Medium persistent bitterness. Notes of caramel, figs, raisins, dry plums, apple vinegar. In overall, a slightly sweet and sour taste. Good sweet-sour balance. Strong notes of oak. No alcohol despite the 11%ABV. M: Heavy body. Low carbonation. Caramel, oak and sour esters in the aftertaste. O: Excellent drinkability. Masterpiece.

Bottle, many thanks anstei! Hazy amber color with eggshell head. Aroma is nutty, a touch caramel, oxidative wine, acetone. Taste is super soft, nutty, oxidative, sweet balsamico. Silky mouthfeel with super fine-bubbled carbonation, beautiful. Not sour until you swallow. A gem in flavour, though a bit too acetony in aroma, but not as much as with some other ASBC. Great.
