Post tasting thoughts:
Bit too malty, but nice mango flavor.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered deep brown body, very attractive. Steady thin beige head. Really smooth, sweet. Great stuff. Doesn’t go overboard with the ABV...really lets the barrel sweetness shine. Still has great malt depth. Definitely what I dream that Rocky’s Revenge would taste like. A great beer. Unique, well executed.

Tyranena Three Beaches Honey Blonde Ale
Light aroma of malt and fruit. Golden Yellow color. Slightly sweet, slightly fruity, which turns to a bit of malt and finishes. Its ok but I really wish they would push the envelope. Give me this beer with a thick mouthful, and very sweet like honey. Have it finishes off with heavy biscuit and butter flavor. Make it really stand out from other basic honey beers.

Tyranena BGW The Kissers Monday Night Special Bourbon BA Double Oatmeal Stout
Killer stuff. Dense and dark and pours to a huge head. A ton of vanilla in the aroma along with a hint of bourbon. Surprisingly light body that seems attributable to the oats and gently sweet taste with no hops intervening. Bottled 09FEB17, so this delicious bottle was consumed at the tender age of four months. Seems like it could mature nicely so will have to tuck away at least one for future enjoyment.

Tyranena BGW Carnal Knowledge Double Oatmeal Stout
Appearance: Dark red brown. Opaque. No head Nose: Oats, oatmeal, and a bit of rye whiskey Taste: Deeply roasted oats with typical stout notes of coffee and chocolate. Rye whiskey more noticeable on the back end through finish. Body: Medium to thicker. Smooth and rich. Parting thoughts: Basically an oatmeal stout with a bit of whiskey on the finish. Not what I was expecting. A little disappointing.

Ddaft: Clear, deep gold, off-white head. wood, tea, mango aroma. Sweet, herbal and leafy.....caramel malt taste. Sort of a root-y, earthy bittering. Not bad....but quite different and unexpected.

Bottle at home. Pours opaque black with a medium, creamy tan head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is spicy Bourbon, faint vanilla, moderate roast and chocolate malt with a lingering, spicy alcohol nose and light burn. Flavor is moderate chocolate and roast malt, medium spicy Bourbon, light vanilla and oak, light hop bitterness and a sweet finish with spicy alcohol notes. Full body and medium carbonation. This one needs to sit for a bit to lighten the Bourbon burn.

Tyranena BGW Sailors Take Warning!
The aroma is a lot like opening a can of fruit cocktail that had been spiked with tequila. The oranges and cherries dominate but you can’t miss the booze. The label will have you think this is a beer, but it’s far more an easy-going lightly carbonated fruit punch. Sweet finish. Different and refreshing. Poured from a bottle with one of those goofy-funny partially hand-drawn Tyranena BGW labels (well worth a bonus point in the appearance category).

Tyranena Apple Blonde Ale (Take: One)
Howler from the source. Pours a golden yellow with a white head leaving some streaky lace. Aroma has lemon, some yeast, straw, light grain, and some apple. Taste is of some yeastiness, straw, lemons and subtle apple. Nose is better in that it is fuller. Light to medium bodied with no alcohol presence, the blend is ok and the carbonation is constant. Finishes sweetly yeasty. Loved the idea of this style being apple-heavy, however this take on it did not get there. 11.6

Keg @ Blue Moon, Madison. Deep brown with a substantial, creamy khaki head. Plenty of earthy, peppery rye barrel character. Caramel and marzipan. Dark chocolate. Flavor is fairly sweet. Boozy, dry peppery finish. Welcomed dark fruit character - raisin and prune. Subtle chocolate. Smooth and supple. Drinks pretty well, all things considered. Nice.

Tyranena BGW Carnal Knowledge In The Wood
A deviously low-key double oatmeal stout with a subtle whiskey, chocolate and vanilla aroma drifting up from a heady pour. Equally low-key sweetness on a full bodied, but not necessarily chewy, stout. If Discount Liquor in Milwaukee didn’t always have two-bottle limits on these short-supply beers, I would have bought several more. Bottling date is a little smudged. I can make out a "10" to start, smudged digits in the middle and a "17" to end, which I believe means this beer came from the future.

Tyranena Rocky’s Revenge Bourbon Brown
Poured it out because I couldn't finish it - a "I can't remember the last time" event. It poured and smelled great but the flavorings were over powering. If it wasn't fake flavors added then I'm impressed with their aging process potency. However it felt really artificial in flavor. Elements reminded me of Bourbon County in its potency of aroma and palate so I give credit there. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tyranena BGW Carnal Knowledge Double Oatmeal Stout
Sort of a Founders Breakfast Stout Lite, if that’s possible. It does not have the over-the-top, multilayered aroma of that oatmeal stout nor its generous ABV, but it does have a similar smooth, easy-going body, chocolate aroma and mild hop bite working against an overall sweetness. A respectable stout.

Tyranena Shaggin’ In the Highlands
Smokey without being smoked, Shaggin’ in the Highlands strikes me as far smokier than a Highlands scotch and seems more an Islay scotch (Bowmore, to be precise). Hey, but maybe it’s just the booze talkin’! What strikes me most is the smooth, dry sweetness to this ale. It does not have the heaviness of a typical scotch ale and seems to be whispering, "Hey, you can drink more than one of me." Poured from a bottle.

pours a clear rich copper with a medium creamy head. An oddly malty aroma profile. I don’t get the orange there. I do get some of the orange in the taste. Bitter from start to finish. Dank. Thick mouth feel. Not as citrusy as I was expecting. But still an enjoyable IPA.

Tyranena BGW Coco Poco
Bottle pour - black body with a deep tan head that recedes quite quickly - leaving the thinnest of rings. Aroma is not particularly intense, but what is in there, and you might have to dig, is very pleasant - malty, sweet chocolate, splash of wood, and to be fair, I can get a hint of coconut, but only because I’m looking for it - very subtle. Flavor is a bit more bitter than I was expecting - borders on a burnt feel...chocolate lasts throughout...get a boozy, rum feel though in the flavor. Palate is medium bodied. Decent, though wasn’t particularly impressed...

Bottle - Dark strong beer is what Tyranena does well, and this is no exception. The coconut is light and not suntan lotiony, the rum is sweet but not overbearing, and the porter below is big and roasty. Nom nom nom.

12oz bottle from Discount in Waukesha. Brownish tan pour, no head. Even a lot of spinning did not create a head. Aroma is very plastic-y, with some scotchy peat and some iodine. Little positive in this ... Taste is of sweet malts, some smokiness, some peat and some alcohol. Medium bodied, with alcohol. The blend is decent - shrug? - for what this is, it is not badly blended. There is almost no carbonation. Finishes sweetly. This is not in a direction of a brew I am interested in. Maybe my first "less than 10" 8

Tyranena BGW Socialite - Imperial Brown aged in Red Wine Barrels
The third of the three barrel-aged browns that I’ve found from Tyranena in recent months, Socialite is another adventure in taste alongside Island Booty and High Class Broad. Both the oak barrel and red wine influence and significantly lighten the normally hearty Tyranena brown ale. The most distinctive and appealing aspect is the long finish that eventually turns a little dry. Enjoyed tonight from a bottle dated 30JUN16.

On tap at the Malt Shoppe in Tosa. Darker than amber pour. Of white head, spotty lace. Fruity malty, less malt in the nose, not seeing specifics of either fruit. Thick. Not quite syrupy but close. Finishes sweet and fruity tangy. Shrug, tasty but a bit muddled. Not clean enough to be good. 13.5

Light amber color with a smaller lid of ecru bubbles. Sweeter scents with citric hops and a bit of resin and wood. Sweet start. Middle has mild fruit and enough bitterness to balance. The fruit doesn’t seem to mingle that well. It seems to have lost it freshness.
